And no, the actual game was never fake. You can see it being played by multiple random people on camera with the controller visible.

it looked like hot garbage

lets be honest with ourselves here, did the game really ever look good?

After monhun release this game is irrelevant anyway.

Probably some mismanagment issues, just like it usually is.
The game looked pretty interesting.

God so many wild rumors flung around this. It was the next dark souls, dragons dogma, New from soft/cap on collab I mean all for it to go to vapor ware is pretty fucking anticlimactic it at the very least could’ve had a demo like PT and given people something

>buying a "cinematic experience" in 2019

its the spear and tight corridor
and i think the dungeon thing is pretty cool too

How the fuck is it a cinematic experience? Watch the actual gameplay.

It'll be out next gen

They're probably turning it into Dragon's Dogma: Deep Down now.

>Watch the actual gameplay.
that wasn't a gameplay it was a montage they said it

Maybe watch the second video, nigger. The one with over an hour of gameplay where random people play it and you see the fucking controller and how it moves the character any everything.

>Full-on blocks a blast of fire from a dragon
>While in a suit of iron armor

Holy shit what a bad idea making the game look hyper-realistic. All I could think was, "This dude's skin should at least be melted to his armor"

It probably wouldn't have turned out great or anything but the concept of a modern co-op dungeon crawler with action combat seemed pretty intriguing to me.

It looked like shit

It looked like an over the shoulder Dark Souls, which would have been great. Also all the shills itt calling it shit are hilarious.

Going on the OP I was thinking the top link was newer, like the game was now about scripted "fighting" and epic slow mo. For some reason I remember the reveal being completely different.

Disregard this I am a faggot.

>using a puny sword (sidearm) to fight a dragon

get a pike retard

I believe the top video was shown at the very first showcase of PS4. People were arguing if it's real back then.

>skin
>touching armor
Please don't nitpick about muh realism when you're an uneducated faggot

This is what I want. Dragon's Crown but as a third person perspective. It will not even matter to me even if the stats are simplified.

Deep Down/Panta Rhei was developed on PS4 devkits, which were actually significantly stronger than the final console. Sony essentially lied about the specs and it cost developers million. This is why Deep Down was so insanely good-looking, and why titles like Assassin's Creed Unity ran and performed like garbage but is actually more technically impressive than new AC titles.

Basically, Capcom had made an engine for a non-existent console. Which is why it ended up being scrapped in favor of the RE engine instead.

So Dragon's Dogma?

Sounds like something Sóyny would do.

Back in 2013 this was the only demo that really sold the "next gen" feel. Shame it turned into an F2P schlooter and then got canned. Graphically it still looks better than most games on the console today.

They'll probably used the assets for Dragon Dogma 2 anway

reminds me of demons souls, remaster when..

I knew about this game 2 whole days before it was canceled and i'm still bummed about it

>Console massively downgraded
>Still x5 as powerful as the Fisher Price Bingbox™

Did you forget about the co-op part? Also Dragon's Dogma isn't a dungeon crawler except for Dark Arisen. I don't want wide empty fields.

With the current state of COG being an absolute mess after they decided to close down MHFrontier and DD Online
It's safe to say the game is pretty much dead for good and the assets might end up getting reused for DD2

Didn't look very good, just a collection of interesting tech, which is exactly what it was: a tech demo.

rent free

>the assets might end up getting reused for DD2
A much better use than whatever DeepDown would ever have turned out to be.

>rent free
That's right, WE live rent free in your heads

Truly a mystery. Conceptually it looked super interesting. It was set in the modern day, like Assassin's Creed with timetravel-like mechanics. Some Capcom execs were leading the team. They alluded to several technical problems they kept running into.

My takeaway is that they didn't have much planned in terms of level design, and the execs felt intimidated by the Souls series' success. Looks like self-doubt started to creep in because the last statements on record are of how they thought "maybe they hadn't come up with as good a game as they had thought they did" and stuff to that effect, while outright denying that the game was cancelled. Then they clammed up about 5 years ago completely and for the most part journalists stopped asking questions.

I for one hope they release it or just package up what they already have in some fashion. Whatever the case, there's too few games in this genre to begin with.

It was literally supposed to be free2play isekai shit that took place in the future, the medival fantasy setting was meant to be like a video game in a video game.

It sounded dumb and like nobody at Capcom really had a vision for it.

>tfw still waiting for this

I'm with you, user. One day...

>nobody at Capcom really had a vision for it.
What? Do you have any source?

>melee combat
>over the shoulder camera
dead on arrival

I bought a PS4 for Bloodborne, Wild and Deep Down.
Fuck every fucking studio in the world for having the balls to announce a game that doesn't even exist.
Fuck them all.

Literally the reason why i bought a PS4. My buddy and i saw the gameplay reveal and got really excited for the concept. We waited for years, and now he doesn't even play vidya anymore.
This game never coming out legit makes me sad and depressed.

Apparently the engine and game ran like shit outside of the few controlled gameplay snippets that we see.
