He's not that fast, but Answer is a over average in his speed, and I find his mobility in general very fun with how you can use your scrolls to manuever yourself and how his high jump is more of a long jump compared to the rest of the cast. If you just want a character who's just fast, plain and simple, Jam and Milia would be the way to go though.

OP is right on some level but it's a problem with fighting games in general and not just guilty gear. Tons of people play fighting games just for the "status" you get and the community aspects of playing fighting games and not the games themselves. These are the people who jump from game to game every new release and fellate old fighting games despite being bad at all of them.

The spacing one is stupid because you don't play spacing. You have good spacing, this leading to playing good footsies. Shimmying is just walking in and out of throw range. It's a shit term because it came from a shit game, SFV. Also, calling something end lag instead of recovery frames or just recovery is retarded. The only reason it's end lag is because smash has a dedicated stage recovery button. Also because smash isnt a fighting game.

Also, Blazblue does not have "tech chasing". In all fighting games, 3D, 2D, or otherwise, it's okizeme or just oki.

Venom's considered to be better by many but you also have to think about how many people actually play him. Fuck YRC airdash though, that mechanic alone can be pretty damning for characters like Axl and Zato. Tech buttons are way too strong as well.

There's still a fairly decent amount of people playing Venom, he's not the most played of course, but he's cool and good and both of those attract a lot of people, even if his weirdness puts some people off. I agree about YRC airdash, but I will say that I like that YRC carries your momentum out of what you're doing in most instances, it can make for a lot of fun moments. YRC airdash is just a bit too fast though.

I don't play SFV so I can't say about that,but GG has loads of defensive options, way more than Tekken. It needs those defensive options because of how much some character are capable of. Burst, Dead Angle, FD, air blocking and Blitz Shield are all universal and, for the most part, very useful tools for defense, and then there's character specific stuff as well as IBs on top of it. The only defensive options I can think of in Tekken outside of just blocking normally are the different parries you have and sidesteps. Admittedly I don't play as much Tekken as GG so something may have slipped my mind, but I really don't think it has as many defensive options as GG.
