Yeah I think it was pretty good, bought it when it first came out because of muh "hardcore RPG" mechanics. I think the world is pretty easy to get into and they've probably fixed a lot of the bugs by now.
Some of the mechanics are obtuse, but for 10 bucks it's definitely worth

Yes. The world is charming, story is very human and the fighting system is special, but it has some really rough edges here and there. Single combat is great, tactical and good, but the game constantly throws you against 3+ opponents and the combat mechanics just break down in camera targeting and maneuvers.

Yeah. I picked it up for nearly double that and it's the first game I've really got immersed into in a long time. Not totally sure how to explain it, but it has a very "on the ground" feeling and humanizes events that could seem dry in a history book. You really get a feel for being a commoner swept up in things way outside your scope. I also like how weighty the combat feels even though like said above, it gets hard to manage when you run into more than one or two enemies.

I bought the game because i'm something of an amateur historian of the Medieval period and the devs recreated the world pretty faithfully but of course people who know jackshit about said period thought Bohemia was as diverse and current year America.

But I found it to be one of the most engrossing rpgs I've played because it feels like actual Role-Playing, putting you into the shoes of an illiterate peasant of the time who has to work and train to develop his skills, rather than just slapping "rpg" on the box just because it has a level up or skill tree system.

I am hoping KCD2: Hussite Wars edition, seeing as the whole first game predicts it, plus they clearly aged up Hans Capon for a plot important reason, and I assume it's because he dies tragically historically during the Hussite Wars by the anti-Hussites, which would give Henry motivation to gain revenge.
I fucking hope this happens. I wanna see medieval Tanks and Jan Zizka make autistic war speeches whilst they play the Hussite Choral that scares off some of the Crusaders

Absolutely worth it. It’s worth the full retail price because you can tell it’s a game that was made with passion. I throughly enjoyed every minute of it, living in Europe and having an interest in history certainly added to my enjoyment though. The controversy drummed up around it’s release was not of the devs making, just autistic leftists crying about things they have no control over as usual.

Gameplay is hit or miss, you can either love it or hate it. The gameplay tries to implement realistic sword combat, but the result can either look janky or cool depending on your opinion. The alchemy system is cool and the persuasion and talking system is like classical RPGs (although some choices are limited) side-quests have really interesting outcomes. Overall, I recommend you pirate it and try it. If you love it, buy it and keep playing and maybe read up on historical Bohemia to appreciate some of the small details, maybe watch a historical Czech movie. If you don't like its, then just drop it, although I highly recommend you play more than the Prologue, because the prologue is kinda scripted and long (several hours long).
