Realistically how long until dmc 6?

Depends on how well DMC5SE sells in about 5 years. If it breaks 5m sales, maybe a few years after that. If it's under 3m, maybe never.
Probably around 2021
A large chunk of DMC5's developmemt was spent on retooling the RE engine to handle action games. Now the engine has been reworked and a lot of the groundwork is finished.
unless there's a new director I doubt this, Itsuno is working on Dragon's Dogma 2 now
bout three fiddy.
Probably close considering Capcom said that DMC will be a flagship franchise going forward
Itsuno said he wanted DMC5 to be his last DMC, Dragons Dogma 2 will most likely be his final title before retiring as director.
>Japanese media creator will be allowed to retire
lmao
I'm surprised capcom didn't jump at the chance to remake dino crisis 1/2 when the whole jurassic world thing was hyped up, they missed a pretty big opportunity if were to be the same standards as dmc5/re2 remake
If DMC doesn't go to a new director then Capcom will essentially be putting the franchise on a massive hiatus just like they did after DMC4 when Itsuno went on to make DD. Which they aren't gonna allow.
Hard to say. Seeing as we're at the end of the 8th generation cycle, DMC5 roughly took five years to complete and the fact Itsuno is currently working on the next Dragons Dogma I don't expect DMC6 until after 2025 and that's a big if. Due to the way DMC5 ended it feels like a finally. The twins have made their peace, Nero has his real father now to build a relationship with and everyone in general is walking off into the sunset.
They have registered domains for dmc 6 and 7. And they have mentioned that 5 will be their template for future games, you think they brought back the game, it sold well, never to capitalize on it ever again? It shouldn't take long now since they of course will reuse assets. I'd give it 3 to 4 years.
Looking at it realistically, there's a couple of different paths the franchise can take. The majority of the work has already been done on the RE engine, this alone cuts dev time by at least 2 years. Capcom can still strike the iron while it's hot by releasing DMC5SE within the next year. It would be a gamble for them to wait any longer. They can use that to springboard DMC6. If they wait, they'll do what they always do, and that's releasing collections and 5SE to gauge interest for 6. I imagine the problem at the moment is finding someone who wants to take the helm, since Itsuno is moving over to DD2 and then probably retirement. Honestly, I wish that Itsuno had given 5 a more closed ending. He said he wanted to give 5 an open ending to allow for more stories, but what's the point if Capcom is going to shelve the series for another 5 to 10 years. There's still many ways to write further stories that start from everyone just doing their own, demon hunting, thing after the events of 5.
It's not going to be the same without Itsuno, don't ask for sequels unless you know the team behind it is going to deliver otherwise it's best to leave things on a high note.
Never, XV is a better action game than this piece of crap and sold 5 million day 1, currently at 9 million.
DMC5 will never reach 5 million copies total, let alone 9 million, so it will never get a sequel
What a fucking failure.
>DMC5 roughly took five years to complete
FFXV took 4 years to complete and still obliterates DMC5 in every single way, including sales. DMC cucks are sad.
another 10 years.
>FFXV took 4 years to complete
Bwahahaha 4 years, you clearly have no idea the development hell that game had. From it's conception FFXV took over a decade.
It'll be the same team itsuno used and the new director would have been trained under him, so why the fuck are you so worried?
Barry are you okay?
Barry don't start samefagging like you did last time.
I wanna know what happened to Sparda
>It'll be the same team itsuno used and the new director would have been trained under him, so why the fuck are you so worried?
Dark Souls 2 development says it all.
I honestly want a DMC5 expansion way more than DMC6.
With DMC6 they would inevitably have to restart shit from scratch since it's a new game, a DMC5 expansion could build on DMC5's mechanics with new missions/characters/weapons/enemies/etc.
If and when they make DMC6 I hope it's a Sparda prequel or something.
>comparing a completely different game
As long as matt stays then we're golden
4 years since Tabata took over, Versus is not XV.
not an argument
seethe
not an argument
based
They should just have the guy who worked on Dante's moveset direct DMC6. I don't know what his name is but he's showed up in some of the developer videos, seems like a cool guy.
>wish that Itsuno had given 5 a more closed ending. He said he wanted to give 5 an open ending to allow for more stories,
When did itsuno say this? Is there a news article?
No it's a pattern that you get with different directors. Happened to Dark Souls 2 and more to the point the different directors on the DMC games shows the difference in tone.
>4 years since Tabata took over, Versus is not XV.
Are you an idiot or something. It's still over a decade because they still used large portions of the already completed work.
I just can't imagine being interested in games and not rating dmc5 as a top tier game especially considering the absolute shit tier quality of games today with mtx and all that bollocks.
Inb4 "dmc5 lets you buy red orbs!" people who actually buy red orbs deserve to lose their money when there's a way built into the game to farm red orbs if you actually play well.
CAN YOU FUCKING NOT?
>they still used large portions of the already completed work.
wrong
Hi barry
I think the most likely outcome is that the next game is gonna be a full-blown RE2 style remake of either DMC1 or DMC3. Most likely DMC1 since it's the first in the series, and very important in the canon, but also quite dated and retconned in places.
I bet there's a ton of people at Capcom who don't like how much baggage the franchise has collected over the years. If they did a remake it would essentially allow them to hit the reset button like they did with Resident Evil. It would also make it easier for them to introduce a brand new unproven director.
Itsuno can still help out by supervising 6 if necessary.
Moron, game design isn't linear, Square Enix would have produced tons of assets before the game was reconfigured to FFXV. This isn't unique to this game, it happens to other games as well.
not a single thing from that trailer is in FFXV aside from 3 combat animations, try again tranny
You really have no fucking idea how game development works do you. There's is more to this than visuals, there's all the code under the hood that's been worked on for a decade, you use that you've got a head start.
everything was scrapped, they switched engines 2 times since that trailer retard
I liked RE2make but I really don't see the point of remakes, they could better spend those resources on a new game.
Have a solo Dante or Sparda game that takes place in one atmospheric location, that's basically DMC1/3 right there, only you can come up with your own ideas rather than potentially ruining or being restricted by old ones.
There is still source code they had written for fucks sake that they just port over, it's no different than what happened to the remastered version of Dark Souls, they imported assets from the original engine into the new one, it's why the lighting isn't quite the same in the remaster. Why do it this way instead of bringing the original over? It's because the new engine is designed to talk and take advantage of the 8th generation console hardware.
The final zone where you're supposed to confront all the bad guys? Literally 3 hours of corridors while Ardyn explains the plot to you because it's impossible to understand otherwise since all the important stuff has already happened off-screen (and also in that prequel movie no one watched). All those cool villains that you saw at the start of the game? They all died off-screen. Lunafreya's brother? He also dies off-screen so you only get to see him once in the entire game, even though that was obviously not supposed to be the case originally. For some reason your love interest's handmaiden is Shiva in disguise, a plot point that is literally never explained or touched upon again after it originally happens.
There's a time skip near the end and Noctis' is now supposed to be 30 or something, his face looks older but his body model is still the exact same, so you get to see a 30 year old man's head on a 15 year old's body and it looks ABSOLUTELY hilarious. You're also railroaded into the last boss from this point on because the entire map becomes inaccessible, and NPCs other than your party disappear from the face of the earth, even though they're referenced by the party multiple times, presumably because they couldn't finish their models.
The "game" is a massive trainwreck. Literally NONE of the plotlines established early on are ever resolved. The only bits that are okay are the post-credits cutscenes and the soundtrack, everything else is broken beyond repair. Supposedly the DLCs improve the game and make some sense of the plot but I'll be fucked if I ever waste money or hard drive space on that pile of garbage ever again.
Fuck DMC6, DMC5 is only complete when Vergil arrives.
>Vergil expansion when?
Quick, post games with better combat than XV. I’ll start.
>Ninja Gaiden Black
>Bayonetta
>Most DMC games
>KH2FM
>TWEWY
>Megaman X
>Kirby
>Metal Gear Rising
Almost any other game has better combat than XV's "Hold O" combat
Jet Set Radio Future
>DMC6 gets directed by Matt
>its pure kino
>assuming he isn't gonna pander to ResetEra
When they find the best replacement for Itsono they can find, hopefully someone that would look back at Kamiya's work and actually played other action games, while still maintaining the fundamentals Itsuno set to the series,
We really need someone new to the series to spice things up
fucking this why are u fags already talking about 6 when we didn't even get vergil yet
