This is an accurate statement. Bloodstained is the first game in years that after beating it, I actually played New Game+.

The game requires no grinding I 100% the game in 9 hours of game time it's really not that hard either. Seriously no grinding required made the strongest rapier and whip before even getting to the final boss.

In 7th grade, I took an SAT test without preparing for it at all, it was spur-of-the-moment, I knew about it about an hour ahead of time and didn’t do any research or anything. I scored higher on it than the average person using it to apply for college in my area. An IQ test has shown me to be in the 99.9th percentile for IQ. This is the highest result the test I was given reaches anything further and they’d consider it to be within the margin of error for that test.

My mother’s boyfriend of 8 years is an aerospace engineer who graduated Virginia Tech. At the age of 15, I understand physics better than him, and I owe very little of it to him, as he would rarely give me a decent explanation of anything, just tell me that my ideas were wrong and become aggravated with me for not quite understanding thermodynamics. He’s not particularly successful as an engineer, but I’ve met lots of other engineers who aren’t as good as me at physics, so I’m guessing that’s not just a result of him being bad at it.

I’m also pretty good at engineering. I have independently thought of basically every branch of philosophy I’ve come across. Every question of existentialism which I’ve seen discussed in websites, the thoughts haven’t been new to me. Philosophy has pretty much gotten trivial for me; I’ve considered taking a philosophy course just to see how easy it is. I’m a good enough writer that I’m writing a book and so far everybody who’s read any of it has said it was really good and plausible to expect to have published.

And that’s not just, like, me and family members, that counts strangers on the Internet. I’ve heard zero negative appraisal of it so far; people have critiqued it, but not insulted it. I don’t know if that will suffice as evidence that I’m intelligent but that's all I got.

Actually spent a long time grinding to fill my RPG OCD to max out shit. You can become so fucking powerful it's disgusting. I had to use a sword to make the final boss and secret boss last longer because you can just put on the infinite ammo hat and blast everyone with diamond bullets to kill anything in seconds.

anyone else feel the bosses, especially the ones that were in CotM, were a bit lacking?

I'm not shitposting the threads or anything but I genuinely think Hollow Knight is a shit game. It's hands down the worst Metroidvania I've ever played and the pacing was so bad that the only game I can compare it to in terms of how absurdly long it takes for the game to stop being boring relative to its total runtime is DQ7.

The non-human bosses were definitely lacking in presence and relevance, but I it's unfair to compare them to the ones a linear game where they are guaranteed to be the climax of their respective stage. Though the criticism regarding the surrounding areas being mostly unrelated in tone and atmosphere to the bosses is valid. The only 3 bosses in the game that had a proper thematic build up are Vepar, Zangetsu 2, Glutton Train and maybe Gebel and Valac.

Gameplay-wise they were all fine. Their moveset doesn't shine until you fight them in nightmare mode and only if you aren't grinding for shards . I think it's mostly a game balance issue and not necessarily a flaw in the design of the bosses. Though Alfred was definitely a terrible fight full of jank hitboxes.

The Valkyrie Sword can actually break the game. You can use it in NG+ to get to the water area immediately.

My only complaint was that the dificulty was all over the place. Zangetsu floored me multiple times, then Craftwork was a total pushover, touble jump demon, dragons and the reflector guy were varying degrees of easy, and then I died quite a lot of times to Bloodless. And after that, got every boss on the first attempt.

She forms the upper part of the dress from the cut in her neck and the lower part from the blood in the tub. As you fight her, she replenishes the lost parts of her dress with blood from the stage.

There's literally nothing about this that's incorrect. I'm acknowledging it's headcanon in that it's not explicitly stated in text but contextually all of the information is there.

Yeah, I kinda get why they included mirrors but I wish they hadn't. They're really only to give an indication of where the Ray needs to be used but they also stop doing it later in the castle so it's basically just training wheels that leave a permanent mark on the terrain for no real reason.

Consensus seems to be that the difficulty of Hard mode peters out about halfway through.

The one where she stands in the background and sprays water is easy to avoid since it just covers half the stage. But when she is on the right side? There is no cover. You can't destroy the water with your sword. The backdash has no iframes. I am at a complete loss.

The intended way, since it's designed for NG+, is to use a defensive shard to block the attack.

The game also spawns to Seama right before the attack that you can hide behind to block it by hitting them to stun them.

I always forget poorfags are poorfags not only because they don't have any money but also they're really bad at decision making and spend their money poorly even when they have it. PC has a high upfront cost but it's cheaper in the long run because the games are cheaper there is no extra charge to play online, if you want to upgrade you only have to swap out a part or two rather than buying a whole new "Pro" console. Basically poorfags are a self fulfilling prophecy.

I am weirdly infatuated with Valdis Story even though it's one of the cringiest games I have ever played. But I can still respect it for staying true to itself in spite of that and playing itself straight. And its combat, while flawed, is elaborate and great fun while continuing to change and add to itself throughout just about the full game. It's really rough around the edges though, in spite of having a really solid core.
The Mega Man Zero boss battles and ranks are all superb too.

It really does feel a lot more like Mega Man Zero than either Metroid or Castlevania though. That's not a bad thing as far as I am concerned though. Score and rank fagging this game is great fun and I kind of love it for it.

I am kind of more excited for Fae Tactics though to be honest. Maybe I am just naïve, but I imagine it to have less jank than Valdis Story.
I'd buy Valdis Story and replay it in a heartbeat if it was ported to the Switch though.

IGA tooks what was on th surface SoTN had to offer and just pout in in Bloodstained, but the gameplay and inner intricacies are all missed. BS is shallow and streamlined in comparison to SoTN.

That's two different things user. Being similar and being as good are not the same. You're right. SOTN is better in many ways. Hell Aria and Dawn are better too. But Bloodstained absolutely reminds me of those games.

Anyway I think that they'll do a much better job in the sequel. Apparently the game sold really really well and they're already planning on it. With the base engine setup along with graphics, lore, etc...they'll be able to do a lot of refining.

Not one of IGA's games had combat that was remotely as complex or satisfying as Bloodstained.
They took the best parts of PoR and OoE, blended them together and heavily refined the secret attacks from PoR/SOTN to be the best they'd ever been.

The level design is also 1:1 the same as SOTN's design philosophy, for better and worse.
