It's literally what he's always wanted to do. He wanted to make short films, and youtube videos was the best way to get a crowd. His biggest mistake was going on gamegrumps instead of continuing his solo career, which made the jump to his current works more dramatic. Go back to his old videos and notice the amount of organized camera work and quality edits that he puts into every one of his solo videos, its clear that he's very into film and cinema, and now he's doing what he's always wanted to.
