Thanks user I'll try it out later.

That's not Civ4.

Based, Civ 4 is still the king

>DLC still costs money
I'd rather pirate

The game did not strike me ass balanced for multiplayer.

It is perfectly ass balanced.

It's not that good without expansions, but very good with them.

>fuck up in battle
>want to reload
>have to wait for like 5 minutes

Great idea, having multiplayer-centric design (which nobody plays) influence the SP experience.

first one is still the best

Master of Magic is the best.

touché

I could never get into Civ, shit was always infuriating.

>>want to reload

Do you not have an SSD in the year 20 fricken 19? also have you considered not being a shitter and savescumming?

As someone who has never played a 4x game, how hard is this to learn?

It really is. III is good but it lacks soul. Shame that I have no fucking idea how to play the first one, I'm getting BTFO on the first mission.

The early campaign holds your hand pretty lovingly until you get a hold of it.

Fuck you nigger I need to try strategies before I know which ones work, it's not like I can apply real world logic and tactics to this shitty combat.

>turn based
>tiles
>unit clusters

Fuck off with that autistic shit.
Real-time full scale of bust.

>DLC not free
fucking Paradox
how necessary are they? you can never tell with their games

First mission is easy. Second one is the pleb filter because of the 20-turn limit.

>Always spam archers whenever you can.
>Fortify cities as fast as you can.
>Level up defense first.
>Explore all the level and research everything when possible before ending the mission.
>Read strategy guides in AoW Heaven.
>Customize your hero at the start if you want. (Including race)
>Choose at least lightning or cold strike.
>Regeneration heals units completely after every turn. Very good on hero.
>Always enchant your most important troops or leader.
>Don't choose the dwarf path if you are not optimized for exploring LONG tunnel sections.

Overall I'm having a lot of fun with it. The dwarf levels are so fucking intricate and laberynthic that I am still stoked.

Hey, thanks. Even though I am about to go on my wizarding/warlock run (Heretic/Hexen/Hexen 2/Amid Evil) I will try it out afterwards.

I see... maybe I fucked up picking the dark side first. I'll give it another shot in the future.

Paradox DLC is always free you brainlet

I just don't want to bother with the hassle, piracy really is a service problem

3 factions are locked behind the DLCs. The best factions are not in the game at all however. I don't know what the fuck were they thinking.

Haven't played that yet but with those races you get the chance of using dark elf archers and orc swordsmen which are FAR better than most race's counterparts. Plus the undead get regeneration and wraiths that are only killable by magic.

My sentiments exactly. I hate games with DLC, this shit just needs to stop. I have NEVER been excited to go back to a game that just got DLC, I'd rather just get entire remakes like the Witcher Enhanced Editions or that new Persona 5 for when I'll replay them 3-5 years later. FUCK DLC.

Nah the $400 price tag is the problem with paradox DLC

Yeah, but in the first mission you play as goblins. The elves just fucking swarm me with millions of troops and I can't keep up with killing them all. It's probably really simple but I'm just retarded.

do i use creamapi for these dlcs? are they worth buying w/ real money?

Since the game is on GOG, can't I just pirate it and get all the DLC for multiplayer?

You just round them up with goblin darter stacks and go with fast combat (pretty good units).

The morale system is also not well explained and you need to have at least "average" level of troops on "unruly" or "enslaved" cities which means more or better troops guarding them. Same with squads needing to be "stable" for troops to not desert at any given moment. You might need to fortifiy or upgrade some cities to have better relations with some races so you don't have to waste troops guarding them, or just raze them instead.

>The best factions are not in the game at all however.

Which ones would those be?

Well, It's all subjective but Highmen and Undead

So basically spam darters and fortify every non-goblin city as fast as possible? Got it.

You have the undead, they're just different, and didn't the highmen turn into the neutral undead faction?

But they're not an actual faction like they used to be. The highmen fucked off to a different dimension apparently, and the dead they left behind rose up.

Are the dlcs worth it?

Did this game not sell well or something? This is like the second time I've seen it free, granted the first time was a humble bundle thing

They are doing it as part of their promotion for their new game, Age of Wonders: Planetfall.

>its just space reskin of aow3
Is this realy what 5 years of development look like

It looks incredible good and they really take their time in not just making it a reskin but a different AoW experience. Watch the streams.

How do I get yar-har dlc to work?

Sorry its for russians bvlls only
Whitoids pay for dlc

Truth

Lmao, I would just get all heroes (8 or so party) with chain lighting and other spells and teleport around the map spell and zap stun everyone to hell. Hell, one high men campaign game I just teleport right next to undead leader, killed him and won the game few turns in. First game is the best though, and lizardmen are my favorites and also OP human air galleys.

Should just called it Planetfall. Ain't nothing Age of Wonders about it.
