I'm not saying that doesn't look good, but do they have other animations? People like to shit on Gamefreak for lazy shit that they do, but each Pokemon has at least one attack animation that looks good.
If your mobage only has to worry about giving each just one attack, idle and death animation then that's not really worth bragging about.

I think you're confusing the mainline games with the battle arena spinoffs. The mainline games all feature a single attack animation that is done for all moves. The only good attack animations are reserved for z-moves and the very rare special moves that are lucky enough to be deemed important.

Making sure that fire breathing lizard (not dragon) doesn't shoot fire from it's shoulder doesn't seem very taxing to do.

I didn't want Pokemon to end like this for me. I just wanted to burn out of it eventually or some grand continuously updated game to come out that let all your creatures exist and go on new adventures on. Like updates in an mmo, but not an mmo.

I sure as hell didn't want to be so pissed at their lazy incompetence that I gave up on the franchise. Even with the constant lack of returning features and the useless new gimmicks every pokemon being there ensured I'd get enjoyment out of it. Now the main feature isn't the pokemon, they lie about why that is, charge more for a game that has less content than the last. They'll make bank on it too and there's nothing that can be done.

It all just fucking sucks.

Dev here, this is sheer lazyness.
You can totally set the spawn point of attack animations per-actor.
Since they only attack once per move in the games, it would be a simple coordinate for each pokemon to make the animation spawn, given that every animation is defined with a middle point first.
It would take me two cups of coffee and a single day to define that on every one of the 800+ Pokemon.

It's I can see it previous gens being great, but with team preview being a thing it's easy to see coming. A scarfed might not kill something only 2x resisted to it and a Jolly Choice might be outsped by something already boosted or with a choice scarf. It's defenses are so pitiful it will lose to priority moves easily.

Hell if it's not pivoted into from a slow U-Turn you can just bait it out with someone who's clearly weak to him and get a free double switch.

There are better ways to deal with Magnezone or Heatran, in my opinion.
