Why the fuck do people say this game drops off after the beginning...

Why the fuck do people say this game drops off after the beginning? I personally only think that there are 2 "bad" palaces in the entirety of this game. That being the bank and Haru's dads palace. Other than that the first one, while you're handheld in it, is great, the second one is fantastic, Futaba's palace is the best in the entire game, with the best music on top of that , Sae's palace is also an amazing palace. Yes the story can get a little dry, but that is only around the 3rd and 5th palaces. All of the other ones had me on the edge of my seat excited to see the story progress.

inb4 being called a newfag to persona, i have played everything but 2.

When people dont know about something, they will repeat the things others say , no matter how "wrong" they are

Exactly, it's like all these faggots complaining about how the story runs "dry" towards the middle probably quit when there was one low point.

Yea Forums is contrarian and the megaten fanbase is bandwagony. when p5r releases the vanilla version of p5 will be hailed as something perfect that was ruined by additions like it's p4g. people do this with strange journey redux despite the additions in that game being innocuous besides alex. that isn't saying that the changes won't make the story worse but people will let themselves be bullied into groupthink.

But Yea Forums loves p4g now

..because 5 got released

which makes zero sense

Really makes you think...
it's funny because it's true

it comes in waves but p4g was just an example of a remake i thought was worse than the original. like you said it's the opposite here where people act like p4g is the definitive version despite having a chatacter nobody likes be prominently featured along with other additions that take away from p4's drab atmosphere to the extent that everyone seems to consider vanilla p4 unplayable

On an unrelated note, is P2EP any good? I have never given it a shot, and have thought about trying it but never got around to it.

Exactly, like yeah, the story slows down after ANY of the palaces. Falling action, something I learned in high school english class. Of course after a climax it's not going to be BIG BANG EXPLOSIONS. Look into literary principles, retards.

Whoever that retard was clearly never even got into madarame's palace. That's easily the second best palace

4>2>6>1=8>7>5>3 imo. 4 2 and 6 are god tier though. Futaba, while I dislike her appearance and personality had a fantastic story that has given me feels I haven't felt so hard in a long time.

to be fair, the middle is a fairly low point. to say the story takes a nosedive is kinda opinion but to say it runs dry is just wrong

The """people""" who say that are retarded Yea Forums drones who can't form their own opinions and most likely did not play the game or did not get it. It's an instant pleb filter when people say the game went downhill after kamoshida, especially when their reasoning is that the villains weren't as personal to them which is literally the whole point. The better palaces are late game with Futaba and Sae.

Yea Forums drones need to be purged

Agreed. This guy raises a good point which is that it's spammed by people who literally haven't even played the game when you confront them on their retarded opinions. At best they probably watched a let's play.

EP is good, the story it tells made me trudge through it's gameplay. i recomend playing persona 1 and innocent sin first if you haven't because it wraps up the overarching story of those games and has p1 characters return.

The issue is every dungeon is worse than the last
Kamoshida’s is the best in terms of writing and visual symbolism with how Kamoshida’s abuse of both Ryuji, Ann and the volleyball teams is portrayed. It’s also the best with how the characterization of the party members as well as Kamoshida himself are tied to each other and how well done his rehabilitation is by the end.
Madarame’s is solid as well. Not as good as Kamoshida’s but it has similar strengths in how Madarame views his pupils and how Yusuke develops as a result of understanding the abuse he’s undergone finally. What it lacks, though, is a fulfilling rehabilitation catharsis since most of Yusuke’s closure comes in his social link whereas Ann and Ryuji get most of their closure on the spot when Kamoshida confesses.
Kaneshiro’s dungeon is where the writing really drops the ball as Makoto’s personal development is shoehorned to involve Kaneshiro’s exploitations and Kaneshiro’s views are really only present in the beginning since the rest of his dungeon is a cool but otherwise standard bank heist. It also lacks a lot of good catharsis since his rehabilitation gets very little time and he spends most of his post boss battle banter talking about the conspiracy.
Futaba’s arc is okay for the most part until the end, and that’s mostly cause it’s actually a Persona 4 dungeon ( which makes sense since the whole inceptioning plot element is ripped fromP4 anyways)

>no ayase
what will i do without bestgirl?

Is better since pretty much all of them got ruined at some extent

>ayase best girl
Good fucking taste. And yeah like the other guy said it's kind of good she didn't come back because they did ruin the ones that were brought back.

How so? What did they do to ruin them? They weren't very developed in P1, but that added to the atmosphere of the game in not really knowing the people.

Then you get to Okumura’s which is arguably one of the weaker dungeons in terms of writing since it speeds through in order to cover as much of Haru’s recruitment and Morgana’s runaway as possible but severely neglects giving the villain much development. His catharsis is half decent but not given the time it needs since it’s interrupted by the conspiracy (aka, the biggest waste of writing in the game)
I’m of mixed feeling on Sae’s Dungeon since it’s well designed but the actual writing and symbolism seem a bit off to me. It seems odd that Sae herself would see the court of law, her purview, as a casino since she already sees it as a rigged game, so you’d think she would think of it as something less flashy. Very little of her dialogue suggests she thinks of anything in terms of chance, rigged or otherwise.
Then we get Shido’s dungeon and the Conspiracy proper, which is where the writing nosedives into the realm of the unbelievable, ditching any semblance of commenting on social issues in favor of an Illuminati plot

I hated the game from the beginning and stopped on the UFO palace or whatever it was. Dont know what to tell you, the combat seemed pretty bad, and the story was just a shitty anime, and I hated running arpund trying to do the "slice of life" shit, and it just felt so long and I wanted it to be done.

It was my first persona game. Was I suppose to play the other ones first to get it?

If you didn't P5 for those reasons, I doubt you would like 3 and 4.

Can someone explain the combat, because I must have been missing something, it cant have been that bad. But the way I played it, either I had the ability they were weak to or I didn't, and thats pretty much the whole game. It reminds me of quidditch, how they have all these guys trying to get the ball in the hoops for 1 point but theyvare mostly all wasting their time because it all hinges on whoever gets the snitch 99% of the time

i'm nearing the end of my playthrough now and i'm having a really great time. definitely something everyone should play

>Why the fuck do people say this game drops off after the beginning?
Maybe people just have higher standards than you idk.

>He didnt talked to their party members
Their dialogues changed all the time
ALL the time

yeah it's about having the right element to counter the enemy, plus status and shit on top of that. you're supposed to stock pout your persona list to cover for most things
