There is a fan translation for the original version. However it is unfinished. So either the unfinished version or the censored and cut content version.

The Sega CD Version, the other versions were for the MSX version which was unfinished however there is a translation patch for SD Snatcher, the spinoff for the MSX too.

Probably. Policenauts is Japan only but has translation patches for playstation and saturn.

it's not necessiarly censored only a few minor changes to localize it, like for instance in the original version Akashiyaki was changed to Neo Kobe pizza and a few names were changed and the obvious one is Katrina's age is 18 instead of 14 in the original

I recommend playing both. First the unfinished one for the uncensored content and the pc elements that couldn't be done on a sega console. Then the sega one for the nice touch ups and ending. But then again I really really like Snatcher.

A lot of the so-called "censorship" is really subjective.
I've seen a collage of that first corpse in the 3 or 4 different versions before, and it's hard to say which is better definitively.

It is the most complete one. It still has some stuff that got censored from the original though.

What puzzle is missing?

There is a computer password you have to figure out from a note found on a body. Because of the pc nature of the puzzle requiring a keyboard the sega cd version just has the password automatically get solved.

So this shit either isn't coming out in the west, or we're only getting the TG-16 half, right? They aren't putting out a real Snatcher translation, and they sure as FUCK aren't translating TokiMemo in this political climate.

And just to clarify I'm bringing up the censorship stuff as a reason to play both versions of the game. Not one over the other. It's a great game.

There is some Dialog that's been censored in the Sega CD version, other than that it's the best version as it's only in English and has the best OST.

Sega CD is the best version of the game hands down, if you're talking about Snatcher. Not sure what you mean by "fans finally released".

The "censorship " this sperg kn the thread keeps moaning about is barely worth playing different versions to "experience" it. They're minute fucking details that you will probably miss anyways. Play the SEGA CD version and look up a YouTube video comparison. It's like less than a fucking minute. The other versions just don't compare in overall enjoyment.

The 3rd chapter was only cut from the original, MSX2/PC88 release. All the other releases have it. Even SD Snatcher.

This. Snatcher isn't a good game, anyway. It's a novel experience.

PC Engine is objectively better. Nudity, no dumb sign changes that are only found in the Sega CD version, no cut dialogue.

The Sega CD release was a puritan version for the west, it's even more censored than the Saturn release.

Snatcher's English voice cast was surprisingly competent. I can't picture anyone else voicing Gillian and Metal.

It is, the game list is sightly different (no TokiMemo for instance) but they're mostly the same, even including games that were released in both regions for some reason. It doesn't sound like any of the Japanese games are being translated though, and I'm not sure why you'd want to play Snatcher untranslated.

It seems like just a bad idea to release a bunch of games that are in Japanese, but I guess most of the titles are just SHMUPs and shit that can be played fine if you skip through the one page story.

I can definitely see retards getting upset about Snatcher, though. They really should've cut the text heavy games and replaced them with more shooters, like they did with TokiMemo.

Thinking about it, it's pretty funny how they cut a very pure dating sim where you might get to kiss a girl after a fucking year of managing dates, and yet Snatcher, which features exposed tits in the PC Engine release, is totally fine. The west is absolutely fucked.
