I installed about 30-40 mods and got bored after about 20 hours or so. Still had fun with all the mods installed, but since I beat the game originally and put like 100 hours into my original playthrough plus all my multiple characters I created...I guess I'm just jaded now.

That's not the game aging it's the game getting what's essentially an update.
Games themselves don't change over time unless they're updated and even then it's not really aging.

At this point, it's a meme that Skyrim takes days of troubleshooting to get it to work. Most big mods have patches made by the dev of that mod or from a third party that make them all compatible. However, they clog up your load order and you quickly hit that 250 limit. You can go past 250, but things get more unstable past that point. Also, even if you can't find a patch or the mod page doesn't list compatibilities and incompatibilities, you're supposed to install mods in batches and delete the ones that don't work. MO and Loot do the majority of the work for you.

Still takes ages to find everything you want, install it, make sure it works, fix it if it doesn't and lastly play the game and find out it's the exact same piece of shit you've already wasted 100's of hours on. I'd rather just play a h-game and get to the business right away

FO4 has some good "hardcore survival" type mods that make the game sort of like a budget STALKER.

Not slutwear but Raven Witch and Mavari Set mods and also Medusa Heavy armor set from the same author looks good for edgelord vamp ladies.

I already did. Just started a new character recently and having a blast. About 20 hours in and only had one ctd and one infinite loading screen.

Not sure which mod added it but I bought an absorb magicka spell that makes playing a full mage build much more satisfying because I don't have to just run around waiting to cast another spell. That plus the nipple magic option in XPMSE have made for one of my favorite playthroughs.

I've never understood what people get out of modding Skyrim. I mean maybe if you never played it before, maybe if you haven't replayed it in years and want to play through it again, I could understand, I did that for Oblivion last year and I hadn't played through it since 2007 and had a lot of fun, but other than that I just don't really see the point. You play through Skyrim once and you pretty much get the gist of it, and there's nothing particularly special about the story or any of the questlines that you're desperate to repeat. Also way too easy to cheese things irregardless.

That aside, i still recommend playing through the game first to get the hang of how it feels. Skyrim is still a good game, despite what v says, on its own. After your first playthrough should you think about getting mods. But if you really want to, id recommend some texture mods like "noble skyrim hd" or "realistic water" , unofficial patches, and some body mods such as cbbe, unp, etc. If you want to. Best not download any skills / story mods

There's a roleplaying modpack called Ultimate Skyrim that makes the game a lot harder, but more fun. Hunger/thirst/rest mechanics, de-leveled world, etc. Emphasis on character building. It works pretty easily, includes visual mods, and all of them can be disabled individually. I like it.

So why are there no repacks of the game with mods already? Its been like 20 years and nobody has come up with this idea

Repacks are a stupid idea and I don't get why so many ask for them. One guy would have to make a huge overhaul for the game that covers everything you'd get from all the big mods and keep it updated when Skyrim updates. You can't just throw a bunch of mods together in one file and call it a day. Most big mods work together already, and some need a patch. If one of the mods in your modpack doesn't get updated, you'll never be able to play with that pack again. Whereas there's usually an alternative mod for most used ones. It gets even worse when you factor in how anal mod authors are about permissions. Modding Skyrim has never been easier than it is now. Even most of the advanced things you can do has been reduced to a couple of clicks.

I see you're a man of taste. You should buy every system and buy Skyrim for each one. If you already have it, you should buy the special editions too.

Inigo is super popular so most people here probably hate him, but he's popular for a reason. Thing I like most about him is how "intelligent" he is, from a technical perspective. The way he comments on the environment and the player really make him feel alive. Most of his ambient dialogue is relevant to where you are or what you're doing, it really makes it feel like he's traveling with you and not just following you around. Definitely give him a go, he'll probably ruin most other followers for you because he's so good.

I'd also recommend trying Auri, her quest is a bit tedious but she's cute and her voice acting is good. She was pretty buggy when I played with her but she's been worked on a lot since then.

Are you using any other general NPC overhaul? Check the mod page and comments page to see if anyone has a fix for it.

That's how I always start out. Just some immersion mods and mods that extend mechanics, then some NPC overhauls and followers. Then I get a boner from looking at everyone and it's all downhill from there.

Put the [skyrim] folder in your main directory, the [data] folder in your data folder. Enblocal goes in your main directory with the [skyrim] shit, then use the STEP project wiki to tweak enblocal to your machine specs. Run the game with that, the rest of the folders are self-explanatory addons if you want to add them.

There are some dips here and there, but it's mostly 60. The biggest framerate hog seems to be the grass mod.

I got in and managed to make a full roster of mods working in a matter of days, while not even playing any TES games before. It's not hard to get in if you have a good guide to explain the basics.

It's not nearly as straight forward as you say it is. I modded Skyrim just a few days ago, there's a lot of moving parts. Especially with the troubleshooting you're assuring takes no time at all for some reason, despite that being the most tedious and time-consuming process.

Troubleshooting time is going to be different for everyone and depends on how many mods you're installing, how many your installing at once, and even how old the mod is or when it was last updated. As long as you read the mod page and see what mods are and aren't compatible with it you should be fine. You should also install mods in batches.

Probably still LE, but SE shouldn't be too far behind these days with the bulk of important mods already available. RaceMenu took longer but it appears to finally migrated just fine.

But realistically, anyone using Sexlab + Devious Devices shouldn't expect much from the stability department with the scripting engine.

I've found even the most immaculately modded game will still look shit under close enough scrutiny, Such is the nature of Skyrim I guess.

I'm happy that I can be satisfied with just a basic core of texture pack + lighting + grass + weather + lod + characters. At this point I can slap together an installation in an afternoon, and just sprinkle in whatever gameplay mods I want to try this time.

ustengrav is literally the second main quest, the enemies you face there are level 35+ with that mod, when you should be at or around level 15. and there are like 10 of them.
it's a shame because i downloaded the mod because the base game is pitifully easy, but there are no good mods to make the game any harder without completely unbalancing it.

Did anyone else end up uninstalling Frostfall and needs mods? I thought it'd be cool to treat Skyrim like a kind of survival simulator but it's painfully obvious that the base game isn't built around it. Eating and drinking, staying warm, it's all cool for the first 10 levels and then it's just opening your inventory to spam cheese wheels and water, and cold is just an annoyance. Hopefully the next ES game actually incoporates a survival mode and adds some QoL for it.

You can mitigate some of that by using iEquip, it has a gamepad addon if you use one too. Also, didn't development for Frostfall stop? I think I remember not using it because it hadn't been updated in like 2 years.

I knew this would be my favourite playthrough after a bandit gangrape early game left me broke and gearless, and I had to prostitute myself in Whiterun to earn money for a backup set so I could have revenge. My Dragonborn would eventually become enormously powerful, but much of Skyrim remembers that it all came at the cost of tons of sexual abuse. Riverwood may have forgotten about the rumors, but the people in the big cities still laugh at me.
