Is this game good yet? It's been like 7 years already.
Starbound
It got worse with time, I would just forget about it
>buyers remorse general
But I spent money on it, and I'm really burnt out of Terraria.
Sorry mate, I would shittalk it just play it for a couple hours and see for yourself
No. It hasn't been updated in years.
No it got worse every time they redid it in early access and by the time it released we got a bland game with shit mechanics and a terrible story line we have to follow.
This was a prime example of a game with plenty of funding but to many idea and art people but no one who actually knew how to implement and program anything.
Bro advisors are spooky
i have done nothing with my life in those seven years except work a shit low position job. : (
I missed when you just had to get the parts to fuck off a planet then you were free to start exploring. Sure better shit required longer to get to, but this whole storyline about repairing your ship yadda yadda is fucking awful, takes forever, and railroads you into a super long boring set of planets to get the pieces you need, where you're never capable of finding anything exciting or new to change up the game. It's like a super fucking long tutorial.
Didn't they put an update out though?
Mods might be able to help salvage it, but in my experience they generally just tend to pile on more on top of it, instead of remedying the game's fundamental problems.
That little mask looks like a sadface so I used it as a reaction image. Not really that scary desu it's just a floating grub with harpoon arms.
The scanning parts are the worst. I agree its like the longest and worst tutorial ive ever had to play through.
Depends on if you use sexbound or not. There's no point in playing if you can't fuck plant women.
this game was only ever designed to be made into porn
>plant women
Ah, true man of culture I see.
No I mean the shit it does. It doesnt look scary, but it goes around and slurps on people's necks and then uses brain powers to break shit. I'd be scared to come across one in real life.
I love the plant people.
>Movement = Bad
>Combat = bad
>Mining = bad
>Game = bad
All it'd probably take to kill is a shotgun blast in it's fat fucking face. Gordon's killed much worse in Xen than some shit Advisor that catches him immobile.
Same here, fren.
Name a mod besides Fraken that salvage this.
>great iceball
>not great icedisc
Sexbound. But they need to add more dialogue for the different races and scenes.
fraken doesn't really salvage it though. It just adds more on top. The core loop, the feeling of progression, the fact that all planets are useless...
What are some essential mods? Mods you like? SEX MODS? How diverse is the modding scene anyhow?
I liked Fracken and then he made it so you just upgrade the mining laser with the same manipulator modules you find everywhere instead of having to grind for 30 hours mining rare ores on hostile worlds and build a high-tech lab to upgrade it, and I realized I had no reason to go to any of his new planets anymore or play through any of his new content anymore. Kind of ruined it for me.
That's the point that ruined it for me. In Terraria each biome has some sort of context or point. You're actively seeking them out because they have X resource or Y enemy. In Starbound there's no point to really go to any type of planet beyond the difficulty level for ores.
Exactly! There's just no reason to visit any of the new planets or dig or explore now. I made a (nice) post about it on his Steam page, but he said that a lot of people didn't like having to search for rare stuff to build the cool gear in his mod.
Starbound is a lot of wasted potential in general. Procedural generation done wrong.
Let's just get this outta the way.
It's that and the progression. The core gameplay loop is, honestly, not that bad, but you never feel any stronger.
In Terraria you start off as Minecraft steve, suffering from fall damage, getting hurt by smaller enemies and the like. By the end of it you're crushing enemies left and right, running super fast, you're able to fly, etc.
There's just never anything like that in Starbound. You gain new equipment but the enemies scale to it and you do the same damage proportionally. Things that are issues at the start of the game are always issues, and the tech you get is never a game changer and doesn't make you feel stronger.
Also making all guns use energy, energy that's the same pool as your abilities, is bullshit.
Yeah, it was not a well-designed game. I just checked and saw that the 1.4 update came out a month ago, and I have zero interest in reinstalling.
I did really like the farming, though. Building a house on a planet with nice music and a pretty sky and having a little farm + cooking was comfy as fuck.

No wonder your cringe post is ignored.
The question was already asked and answered in the thread.
No it wasn't. Someone just mentioned they exist.
Since Terraria had the Portal Gun why didn't Chucklefuck one up by having Turrets?
They need to do a No Mans Sky on this game and fix it.
Just adding unique bosses and weapons to each planet type would go a long way towards making this game better. Some sort of random events based on planet type as well.
Also removing the scanning parts of the story quest and making the quest a side thing would also go a long way. But neither of these things will ever happen since chucklefuck sucks at game development.
Does NMS have those?
No i meant more like actually giving it the support NMS did and fixing the game. NMS isnt great now but thanks to the dev putting out some major patches its actually playable now compared to release while Starbound is still garbage.
