Is Monster Hunter World worth 23 bucks? When I see videos youtube it almost looks like a hack and slash with no planning or preparing which is boring as shit to me.
I played MonHun many years ago on PSP and enjoyed it but never put many hours into it for whatever reason. However, I do remember having to plan and prepare for hunts which I was really digging at the time.
It's basically the same as it was in MH1 except they made it easier to do a lot of the tedious shit, like farming for materials. If you played MH1 and liked it, you'll like MHW
Grayson Clark
Everyone keeps saying it's so shit though... Sooooooo
Logan James
stop taking the opinions from people who don't play games seriously, user
Jose Kelly
I think it is, but if you're playing on PC is check your specs first because when I played it (at release) it ran like absolute shit on a meme 970 i7 6700k
Tyler Parker
Alright I got it. Thanks for the help. Guess everyone is too interested in talking about pokemon or some lame shit instead of talking about video games.
Jordan Rogers
Yes it's great fun both solo and with friends, the hunting missions are packed with action and strategy thanks to theamazing level design that can potentially make every hunt unique and memorable. The weapon selection is vast and deep, only bummer is that weapons hardly look different from the non-upgraded version and there is a fewer number of monsters compared to older games of the series, but overall the quality the rest of the game brings is a big step up and possibly makes the most refined monster hunter experience you'll get in 2019.
Michael Barnes
No, it's shit. Also, denuvo.
Cooper Torres
>That first line
So Monster Hunter thread?
John Clark
MHW is a subpar MH game but that still makes it better than almost all of the other AAA trash that's on the market.
We're not talking 9/10 vs 3/10, we're talking 10/10 vs 8/10.
Josiah Harris
Yeah I get it. I mistyped. I didn't want to delete the thread and start a new one.
Can I solo this game?
Caleb Mitchell
Yeah it's definitely worth $23. It's not really hack n slash unless you choose dual blades or longsword. As far as planning and preparing, that's still alive and well. Skills are linked to armor pieces so you put together sets that are ideal for how you like to play the game. You forage for stuff for stamina and health and status treatments as well as crafting. MHW basically has you constantly doing stuff in order to continually fight the monsters and keep up an inventory of stuff to do it.
All the mainstays of the series like the traps and tranqs still exist and you have to bring them if you're doing capture quests or want increased rewards in kill quests.
Chase White
Where are you getting it for 23?
Gavin Stewart
MHW is the most solo friendly game in the series. Only Kulve Taroth, Behemoth, and Ancient Leshen are designed around multiplayer.
It's good, fun, just not as filled with content as the 3ds games, probably because it's like a "new thing" for them, doing proper consoles/pc not to mention trying to appeal to a general audience. Only real issue I got with it is the lack of difficulty early on. I remember getting my ass kicked pretty early in some MH games, I got around 60 hours in World before I started dying a decent amount of times to certain bosses. Also, pc port ain't fantastic but it runs and plays surprisingly well on keyboard and mouse for the most part
Jacob Lewis
Yes doing solo is actually pretty fun. The scale monster health depending on how many people there are, so if you go in solo, you'll be able to do it.
Depends on how good you are with the weapon you choose too. People have difficulty beating some monsters with some weapons that have low damage output or mechanics you need to master. All of them are viable in the right hands though.
Henry Myers
So I kinda want to build an armor for heavy gunbow, and I fucking hate the design of most of the armor in World, but not only that I also fucking hate clownsuiting. That said, I thought that I might able to make something out of the Zorra Magdaros beta set if I put in the right skill. I want to get into bowguns but I'm really not certain about this and farming Niggaros is a pain because he only appear once in a while and I get all kind of drop except somehow the most common shit like ridges to make the armor.
I would really appreciate some input into this, as I don't want to waste a ton of time over nothing
Kinda lacking in monsters so far but Iceborn isn't too far. The videos you saw were probably low ranks or people being idiotic, now don't get me wrong, the game will not ask you 4D chess of pre planning, but late high rank will require you to think a minimum before launching into a quest. All in all, I think it's a pretty decent game for 23 bucks.
Humble Bundle. I'm getting it for 80 percent off for whatever reason. And that's only the Deluxe version which is cheaper than the regular version for no reason.
William Bell
Where can I get it for $23?
Tyler Perry
Just saw this.. a bit late I guess. You get the $6 discount for being a monthly subscriber.
Anyways, I think the game is worth it. Played on xbox and had my fair share of fun. I got bored and dropped it after I beat all the bosses and the annoying bomber shows up every fight.
Isaac Roberts
Isn't there also a sale on steam for it at 30bucks?
William White
HB my dude. I'm special though.
Adrian Howard
Start getting some layered armor. The festivals are coming back with all the event quests around late this month and it'll be going for five weeks straight.
Hudson Reed
I understand it's a convenient solution, but I'm not a fan of those either since it changes the whole set. If only I could transmog my would-be bowgunner stuff into Odogaron set. In fact, one of the biggest reasons I'm running the weeb blade is because it's not only effective, it's one of the few weapons where most of the tree doesn't look like absolute dogshit.
I know I'm being picky and difficult but, fuck man, this game really need a better direction when it come to gear.
>no planning or preparing that's only true for low level monsters, you can usually go unprepared and/or just gather some shit in the area. however in mid to late game (above rank 15 or so) you absolutely need to prepare your items carefully, select the 2 most appropriate mantles for the monster, pick up some bombs, etc... and in case you need to restock on items you can go back to a camp in the middle of a hunt
Aiden Rogers
absolutely fucking overrated the monsters have limited movesets and you'll just be fighting the same few over and over fun for a few hours
Brayden Allen
>World Why not, you know, one of the good MonHuns instead?
Benjamin Edwards
The layered armor is piecemeal, only the likes of Ryu or Geralt are forced 'full' sets.
Oh so I'm just fucking dumb, but still, you're restricted in what you can "layer", it's not an actual transmog correct? I also heard about a mod that do allow you to transmog your armor part into anything you want but I don't want to suddenly get my ass b& when Capcom decide "welp, no mods allowed!". What a shit situation.
>made it easier no they made the controls less retarded >lot of tedious shit so like every mh
Grayson Hughes
I mean I get that it might be a bit more casualized. But looking at steam charts it stays consistently played with lots of hours from users on Steam. Which leads me to believe it's not too terrible.
Or it might be actual shit and people just have bad taste.
I genuinely believe that a lot of diehard MHfans have beef with world because it simply made it more accessible. That's all there is to it, a bunch of a nerds being mads that "reee normies" aren't repulsed by backward ass controls and gameplay, but you have to keep in mind that MH was also a prime fucking target for consolewar-fags and ever since then the thread suffered a lot. All in all, the "rivalry" calmed down, but you'll still have retards trying to start shit.
The best advice I can give you is just to pirate it and make up your own opinion wether it's worth your time and money or not.
Levi Allen
It's basically unlockable stuff than something like MHGU's armor fusion, and the armors aren't monster-specific designs. If the latter is ever a thing, it'll only happen in Iceborne. Mods I think break in updates anyway, and the PC port team is apparently compact.
There's definitely going to be contention with such a large overhaul but there's also a shitload of false-flagging going on too. Know about XV-kun? Turns out MH threads have to deal with another guy like him.
Colton Allen
Well fuck me sideway with a donkey dong, I think I'll just go with the Zorra beta set and fill it to the brim with gunbow oriented gems. I'm not exactly someone who do the hardest tryhard shit available in the game anyway, much as I hate to admit I'm somewhat of a casual, so it might just work. You never know until you try, right? Thanks for all the help, user.
Buddy if I threw 23 dollars at any game that I had an inkling of interest on I would spend a thousand a year.
Nicholas Evans
there are definitely valid complaints like having less monsters than other games, iron and bone, having to watch a cutscene before every fight before co op, ancient forest but yeah a world 2 with weapons as cool as the rest of the series and a better hub seems like it would blow everything else in the series out of the water based on what little I know of the series
Grayson Butler
I absolutely agree, I certainly won't deny that the weapons design is pisspoor, and the monster variety is terribly lacking. The game DO have flaws, but some MH oldfags are just too harsh on World, and falseflagger simply aren't even revelant.
