These things are fucking junk. Constant drifting and dead zones. $70 for this garbage
These things are fucking junk. Constant drifting and dead zones. $70 for this garbage
>being poor
Probably the worst controller I've played with in a long time. Everyone I know has a dead zone
agreed. I love my Switch, but the drift is a real problem
>pay $70 over and over for $10 chink plastic
>you're not poor are you goy? spend spend spend
Just get the lite
My left joycon went and it's pretty much killed 90% of the enthusiasm I had for this system. I mean I have a pro controller but almost every time I played the Switch it was chilling in portable mode on the couch / bed, with occasional playing docked to charge it. Making my handheld experience shitty has pretty much made the thing collect dust for me now, and I can't decide if I'm going to give in and buy another left Joycon from this shitty company, or risk fixing it myself for 15$. Either way it's fucking horseshit.
What if the Switch Lite has this problem? What the fuck do you do then?
Well it's designed for kids not sexually frustrated incels yanking on it like it's their cut shrimp dick
Die

No one respond to him
Why do the Joycons feel like they're going to fall off the system while you're playing it?
The fucking left shoulder button stopped working on mine for no real reason. What a cheap piece of shitty gook plastic. Worst piece of hardware they've put out in a long time.
>
what the fuck is with the left one anyway? Seems to be the one that fucks up the most
how do these things feel anyway? looks uncomfortable being small and copying xbox's unnatural stick layout
You use the joystick more.
Drift occurs due to a flaw design, a VERY amateurish mistake, it's like someone with no knowledge of videogame controllers designed it, the PSP had a similar problem but it wasn't as common.
Yeah I remember it happening to my PSP d-pad. Actually getting sad thinking about it, and how it made trying to play phantasy star portable a living nightmare.
I know this isn't about Joycons, but has anyone else's Switch started bending at the screen? It wasn't noticeable until I put in new Joycons and the screen pretty much looked like one of those curved TVs you'd see on display at Best Buy.
They are actually pretty comfortable for such a small device, the button quality is actually good, it's the analog that's cheap ass aluminium with even cheaper plastic with a contact strip that makes matchsticks box stripes look durable.
Anyone try the contact cleaner stuff? Just ordered one online. Does it work?
Zoomer thread, eh?
Learn to take care of your shit, you sperging little fucks.
Not really.
It's a temporal fix, the analog stick is a closed small box with the contact strips on the bottom, the dirt stays there and will keep piling up until you open it up.
>not owning a switch
>not opening one to see what's the problem
>implying people can control microscopic particles of dust getting inside the joystick
retard
Jesus
>Constant drifting and dead zones.
I've never had this problem and I've had the same joycons since day 1 and I use them more than my pro controller. Take better care of your shit, stop letting dirt all over them.
I like them. I never wanna use a gamepad for tv play ever again. Being able to relax my arms in any position is really nice. But fuck those piece of shit joysticks. I've had 2 break on me now.
are you seriously going to post about this everyday? just go to walmart and swap out for a new pair
Sounds like a good thing to me
>just spend $70 goybucks
are you so poor that you can't wait 2 days to get your money back?
i've had mine since launch and they still work fine
Why didn't they just use Nintendium?
It's not dirt. You probably play jrpgs or the like that don't require aggressive quick movements that just slowly cause the sticks to wear and break.
It's not microscopic bits of dust that cause problems, though. It's larger pieces of dust, probably from putting the joycons in pockets or bags without protection. Put your switch in a case when transporting it and you'll never have this problem.
I don't have any issue with drift, but the face buttons on mine started being unresponsive. So I bought another pair. And then the face buttons on those became unresponsive as well.
Never had a problem with mine you zoomer spaz
Imagine how much fun they’ll be when their built in
You're retarded. Are you implying I should go to Walmart, buy joy cons, swap out my shitty ones, and then return them?
I actually play action-oriented games almost exclusively.
>tfw have tried my best to keep my switch safe, putting it in a case whenever i travel and everything
>tfw they still fucking drift
>Just buy another one bro
OK Mr. Sakurai, and I'll wear my Nintendo shirt to Gamestop when I go to pick one up! See you in six months when the new ones break!
>he doesnt know how to fix it himself
why dont you ask your mommy to buy you a new joy con
clearly
I've used a case since I got my switch and I still have this problem. It's not that simple.
>thinks joycons are just a stick with buttons on it
just buy a fucking pro controller you fucking poorfag and clean your shit
The stick placement alone makes it the worst controller on the market.
I play my Switch exclusively in handheld. So no
I promise you if you do use them a lot you are on borrowed time. Better learn how to replace a stick.
I own a switch since launch and have had no problems. I used to take it to work all the time and play with co-workers.
I've used my joycons for ~70 hours and the left stick started drifting up. Played around with it a bit and it seems like it works again but that's pretty terrible build quality, I've never broken any other controller before.
Having this trouble myself, been thinking about buying a replacement stick- only about 10 bucks, but if the same thing's just going to happen all over again, then maybe I should just keep the thing at home and use the pro controller instead.
Ayyyy tendies will go crazy
Opening them up is a solution to a problem that shouldn't be happening, I fixed mine 6 months ago and they just started drifting again.
I bought a Switch day one and my original joycons are still completely fine.
>Better learn how to replace a stick.
Nah, at this point if my joycons broke I'd just buy a new set and start fresh anyway.
>It hasn't happened to ME so it can't be a design flaw and everyone else is the problem
How self-absorbed do you have to be to think like this? I've never had drifting issues with any other controller I've ever owned. I have controllers 20 years old that still work perfectly while joycons started drifting just weeks after I bought it.
fanboy shitposting. If Yea Forums existed in 1999 he would be here insisting that Mario Party 1 destroying N64 sticks is Your Fault, Actually.
But it as your fault. If you abuse a controller it will break eventually, joycons have this problem even if you take care of them.
yeah, they also do a bunch of dumb shit no one cares about
What’s a dead zone?
I've always had to replace controller joysticks. Wear and tear people.
pro controller is trash too. I wish the switch was compatible with the wii/u controllers
My joycons are literally out for $40 repairs as I type this because my games are basically unplayable with them now. I love my Switch, but come the fuck on with this shit.
This is not wear and tear, it's someone at the design team fucking up big time and no one else noticing the glaring flaw, it's a very stupid mistake that could have been avoided easily by using different analog sticks.
Nintendo used to be so reliable with their hardware. What happened?
Funny, i was just arguing with someone yesterday about there being a 100% chance either one of your joycons will be complete shit. I even waited till last Christmas hoping issues would be ironed out yet the left joycon has constant connection drift when used wirelessly. I bought myself a pro controller anyway and let the mates use the other shit.
>constant connection drift when used wirelessl
That's not the drift we are talking about, and you can fix that by updating your controllers.
Indeed. How do i solve the fucking drift? I tried lifting the lid and blowing in but it seems there's dirt piling up in the very insides. I just push down the stick and start rotating hard and it lets up for some minutes, but then again they start drifting later. Worse of it is both of the shits drift. Such steaming pile of dogshit controllers. The idea behind them is neat, comfy as fuck and i wish more games would use the gyro or cam, but fuck those sticks.
>Get the lite
>sticks still drift
>no way to replace the controllers anymore
Way to waste your money.
Left shoulder also started fucking a bit a while ago but it isn't that bad yet. That, and both sticks drift, specially the right one. Fuck.
This. They fucked up the pro controller d-pad too, forcing people to dissemble them and stick a piece of tape inside it. Yet Nintendo can't be assed to do anything about it despite it being such an easy fix.
Unfortunately, we can't do much about the analog sticks.
C O N T A C T C L E A N E R
It's a feature.
Open them, the joysticks are closed tight, (laughably where they don't need to), they are held together by a small fragile tab of aluminum, you need to open them very carefully to not break the flimsy tabs, there's a spring inside, do not lose it, you can clean it with alcohol, close them again and you are set.
The controllers are up-to-date. I even told you i bought it last christmas which was after Nintendo's "fixed" joycons were out in the market. Also this thread is about shitty quality so my issue fits right in.
Good gaijin.
The fuck kind of shitty controller do you have to disassemble and clean after a month? Never had to do that with any of my controllers before, ever. MadCatz level QC
The issue appears regardless of connection, it's a physical problem with dust interference inside the joystick connectors, i.e. wireless or not the drift happens.
Do you think Mario Odyssey will update for the Switch Lite?
Like make certain moves doable without wagglan and add hints other than rumble to the rumble puzzles
This, buy a identical pair and return the broken ones. Seriously they don’t check shit at customer service. Stop being a Jew and just take a minor one day 70 dollar loss.
Exact same thing happened to me, spray some WD40 on that bitch and it will fix it temporarily, until it dries
Mario Party doesn't destroy N64 sticks, grinding the sticks into your palm like a fucking gorilla just to win a stupid minigame destroys N64 sticks.
Glad nintendo is phasing these fuckers out.
>hey, these controllers are worn
How do you get out of this situation? Just curiosity, in my country there's no returns.
Spending $70 every few years for fresh controllers really isn't a bad deal, user. Why repair something piecemeal when you can just pay a small amount to get the whole thing brand new?
I seriously doubt it.
I'm legit mad this isn't just my set but it's actually a common problem.
Do i have to dissassemble them? Where the fuck do i get triangle shaped screwdrivers?
you have knowledge of video game controllers? Doubt it.
“Say nah, Idk why they look like that”
The fuck are they really gonna do?
I just replaced mine via return fraud today
fuck Nintendo
But the Lite doesn't have joycons
You don't need to disassemble it at all, you just lift up the rubber flap on the stick and give it a spray of the contact cleaner. No solution is permanent, but contact cleaner is a long lasting, cheap and quick solution that you can reuse.
I still don't think is excusable, but it's very easy to fix.
See:
>few years
Happens randomly depending on whether dust causes interference. It's impossible to avoid without adding some sort of dust protector which I've never heard of.
Except they still have to sell them because there are games that require their functions that aren't present in the lite, they are factually still jewing us.
If you move a controller in a certain direction and there's no response, it's a dead zone.
No.
1. The people at Walmart or target are not paid enough to care and are actively coached to disagree
2. If you were to be called out, you just play stupid and act like you don't understand what they're saying, and keep repeating yourself until you brute force get your way. Customer is always right, they'll either cave or escalate to the manager whose job it is to cave.
Try every few months, the joysticks are worse then china grade
Deny you the service? I don't know, I'm talking out of personal experience, when I bought my 3DS it came with a problem where turning the volume down wouldn't make it completely mute, they asked me a lot of questions to change it and I returned them the next day.
*actively coached not to disagree
This right here, they can’t do shit about it OP. just buy a new pair and return the broken ones. They won’t do anything if you just say idk man. Why you sale shit products bro? They don’t give a fuck about some returned shit if you have a receipt.
No, but they have joysticks, and judging by the promotional pictures they are the same shitty joysticks. Hopefully they fixed the problem so I can buy a revised replacement for my joycons.
>Maybe they were made bad, explains why they didnt work I guess
Fucking pieces of shit, looking at this crap makes me mad, fuck the design team YOU ARE RETARDED FAGGOTS REEEEEEEE
If you have the receipt they won’t deny you shit. They don’t care Walmart/target get there money back regardless when they send it back to the manufacturer. Fuck them.
Switch since day 1 and still no problems.
It's almost like not being some obese cheetoh eating fucktard prevents these issues.
I am worried about the long time collector life of the Switch
I have gone through 3 sets in two years and treat them well
I can't imagine a single working Joycon will exist in 20 years unless it was never opened
Honestly have no idea why people adore this console. Cheap shit hardware, underpowered and and overpriced, software contains 90% ports. This console is worse than the Wii U and I genuinely have no idea why people adopted the Switch but not the Wii U. Is it literally just portability, is that really all it is? I just want another genuine home console from Nintendo.
Mine got fucked after 5 months of regular use with the utmost care possible.
Gonna try to return my Blue Joycons to Walmart tomorrow without a receipt
Will they take them? Thinking I will claim I bought them on Walmart.com with a gift card a couple months ago.
Only the joysticks are shit, the rest is pretty good.
>just dissasemble and clean
>just commit small time fraud
maybe you nintentards can stop buying garbage
I have two sets of Basedcons, annoyed that you have to get an official Pro Controller if you want to use the Switch properly, but not wired USB mode because it adds lots of input lag. Doesn't help that the Switch has poor Bluetooth connection it randomly eats or holds inputs.
Probably the single worse game system to ever come into existence in the past decade.
>Deny you the service?
Literally won't happen at an American big box store unless you took a literally shit in the product, in front of them.
No, go buy a new pair at the store and then return it the next day. You can’t win that way bro. It doesn’t work.
By then we'll have convenient chinese knock-offs which will be more durable.
Wii u had no games and the naming scheme confused normies.
Switch has portability yes, but also has a decent number of exclusives and a large library of multiplats.
portable indie machine with good nintendo first party games. the past year has been pretty slow, but the drought ends tomorrow with DQB 2 as far as big releases for the system over the next six months. also a lot of the people buying switches haven't played/finished a lot of the games getting ported to it. nintendo is smart about restricting when those ports come to make it where you can basically buy a new fun game every two weeks no matter what your taste is. i literally don't have time to play on my ps4 anymore because i have so much i want to play on switch. im planning months in advance to make sure my schedule is clear for death stranding in november.
What do you guys do to controllers? I have a launch version with gray cons and mine are perfectly fine. I played the thing every day until a few months ago and now my girlfriend plays it pretty often. Nothing drifts at all. Are you guys just incapable of taking care of things or are you lying?
stupid filter changed it to "based" when I changed the 'J' to an 'S' for Joycons.
They aren't based, they are compete garbage.
I don't have a Switch, but I went to a friend's house and tried his joycons. They're fucking awful controllers. Way too small and uncomfortable. I can't fathom how anyone could play with them for long periods of time, especially in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Pic related would be amazing for the Switch.
I have had my joycons for over 2 years with no problems. So yeah, if they were to break it would be $70 every few years.
The joycons are comfy as fuck. Nothing beats laying in bed with your arms spread looking at the screen like a quadriplegic. The half controller chiral button positioning is unconfortable for local multiplayer, but it's no big deal. Those sticks and the dumb L button are the only problem. The HD rumble is stupid too, but not really an issue.
My first pair lasted a year
My second pair lasted 6 months
The fact people defend Nintendo on these is pathetic
>go to walmart buy new joycons of same color
>return broken ones in box for full refund
what is so hard about this?
Ham hands
Boomer here, my GC controller from 2002 still works after many hours of melee but the joycons are crapping out after a month of Smash Ultimate.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NINTENDO
PLEASE FIX THE JOYSTICKS ON THE SWITCH LITE I CAN'T TAKE THIS DRIFTING ANYMORE
some of us have moral principles
Nintendo knows full well they are selling a broken product with a major flaw, and they will not replace or repair them after 90 days in the US
They are being immoral, its not immoral to steal from a thief
Than be a pussy.
Ok? My fucking issue it connection drop/drift. These nintendo products are junk. End of story. Fuck off
Theft is immoral, regardless of the victim. You re literally using nigger-think.
It’s not theft, if you believe you are not lying.
You're using good goy think, have fun spending several hundred dollars on Joy-Cons over the next few years
I'm glad someone is paying for all the DS4s I have returned over the years thanks.
>Bought the double blue Joy-Cons
>Can't buy same colors to replace them because it is seemingly discontinued
AHHHHHH
Imagine getting drift on the Switch Lite. You'd have to send it in to Nintendo and they'd send you back a new one, basically losing all your data in the process. Even with Nintendo Online you'd still lose all of your stuff in the Album tab.
Back in the day I used to get free headsets from target by returning my broken one. Sometimes it pays to be a dirty goy Jew.
Then buy another pair and don’t rip the tape like a fucking gorilla. Pray they don’t open it. Or you could play stupid.
Am I the only one who has never had these drift issues? My launch pair has the weak left wireless, but no other issues. And I've put hundreds of hours into Switch games.
I only heard about this recently, too, and now it's everywhere. Is this real or some kind of smear campaign meme?
I wish it was a smear campaign, Joycon joysticks are awfully designed.
This is why you always buy black controllers user. They never stop selling black.
It's 100% real, you can see how shitty the sensor is here It was practically designed to destroy itself through regular use.
Had mine since launch with no issues, don't treat your property like a nigger and it won't break
>utmost care possible
>plays it every day
This. Just don't use it and it won't break.
Why didn't I think of this
wtf
i could kiss you right now. thank you for the great and obvious-in-hindsight idea.
my right joycon just will not connect wirelessly all of a sudden, it's the weirdest thing. I've tried multiple systems and no dice, only works at all when connected directly.
fuck nintendo and fuck the switch. things weren't supposed to be like this.
