It was criminal Naraku and Kagura weren't playable in SK2: Deep Crimson on 3DS. Estival is my favorite for amount of content and mods but Deep Crimson honestly had the best story, character growth, and quality of content. Unlockable custom weapons, 2v2 team compositions, a fucking gauntlet of demons, tit adjusters, Murasame (only playable Male character and was fucking hilarious), Mirai's gameplay was actually good, plus you had Kagura and Naraku driving the story

They really need to make a good SK game. SK7 looked like it could've been that, what with a story focus and enough game space to include everyone, but Sony fucked them up the ass with their sudden policy changes and I'm not sure how bad SK7 will suffer as a result. And it's unlike that they'll make a PS4 version and then remake the game for Steam to include all the stuff they actually wanted; they're better off just with the gimped Sony version so all the development time isn't lost.

I think the only thing we actually saw of the game so far is an animated intro stressing that the story would go back to being dark like the 3DS games. But the project lead was very vocal about how Sony's policy changes has thrown a wrench in the entire development before he eventually quit over it, and the rest of the company has mentioned the difficulty in changing the game to meet Sony's standards.

It looked like nothing, and I mean literally nothing. The first thing revealed about it was the teaser trailer at the end of PBS (webm related) in 2017, and later that year they gave it a release window for fall 2018.
Now the problems started early that year with an interview saying SK7 was only in the "idea solidification stage". Later that year we were shown some samples showing how Asuka would look, but still nothing in movement, and then again later, after the whole Omega Labyrinth fiasco, Takaki said on an interview that they had to change a lot about the game and practically rebuild it from the start.
Then, this year, Takaki announced he was leaving Marvelous, and started working at Cygames while focusing on other projects.
tl;dr nothing concrete was ever shown about the game and even if the sony restrictions for it are true, the game itself was in development hell way before that.

We don't have any real screenshots or anything. It was intended to be a mainline sequel to the series, bringing together the SK2 "line" and the Shinovi "line" together as a sequel to both. It's considered the 7th main game of the series, putting Skirting Shadows, Burst, Deep Crimson, Shinovi Versus, Estival Versus, and Bon Appetit (if I recall) as the "official" games rather than spinoffs. Yes, one of the random side games was considered relevant to the story, I think it was Bon Appetit.
It was going to be a 3D brawler like Shinovi. No telling if it was going to be better or not, but given their work with Peach Beach Splash and the two Fate/Extella titles, I was hoping they'd learned some things about camera and balance for the new game. (notoriously bad problems with the SK games)
Sony has recently stated that they're not allowing lewd games on their PS4 system. Or, more specifically, that they have guidelines in place and "will be reviewing" and rejecting games that don't meet them. SK7 apparently got rejected. Also, PS4 games are intended to be released internationally, meaning that the JP SK7 is fully affected as well, so no chance at imports. Given that SK7 was a PS4 title first, this basically fucks the game and forces them to go back to remake whatever Sony didn't like. Game is delayed and we don't know when it's coming out. Also, no information about a Steam release since the PS4 release was going to be first and that's the priority. But they've said they will be reconsidering putting any new games on Sony systems in the future.

I wasn't aware that Takaki had left Marvelous. Given that SK is his pet project it might not make it very far if he's not around to work on it anymore, especially if it's in development hell and Sony is pressuring the company on changing the game.
