I think this is better than the N. Sane Trilogy in many ways. I've especially been looking at the animations, everything is done really well. N. Sane Trilogy looked pretty stiff and lifeless in many places, here everything has that same cartoony quality as the PS1 games, just starting with how the karts and characters jiggle. I just wish they hadn't nerfed hopping so much, I miss being able to buffer jump inputs while airborne. You used to be able to get real creative with spamming r1 to ride the terrain and gain speed on slopes. Being able to combine aerial powerslides with hops was sick too.

This so much, the animations in NF are so much better I hope it's just a budget thing and not a proof that Beenox is just better at it than VV.

Honestly this game has some of the best CGI animation I've seen in a game. Norm's little podium mime dance has so much bounce and fluidity in it. Barely challenging, bosses require not being braindead, relying on nostalgia and not having that much depth asides from "yeah, isn't it great, he's back to his old days". While I have to slightly readjust to the controls and physics, balanced and turning characters need some edge, some glitches that needs fixing, and a slight disappointment to the lack of wanted characters on release (like Moe, Fake Velo, and N.Brio), the game still manages to entertain me.

It really isn't. Boosts in general are much easier to hold in general over the original but harder to get as you can only get SF from turbo pads whereas in the original you could get SF from height jumps over 153. Holding USF is childsplay to anyone that can chain turbos consistently or was decent in the original. The only hard ones are maps that make it hard to balance building reserves while making tight turns, only Cortex Castle really fits in that category, and Hyper Spaceway if you're trying to keep the extra speed USF up at the 8 figure area.

Not him but there's a lot more skill involved in powersliding with USF now since it actually stacks and people are tested through every corner in the track now. Tons of people think it will just last forever and they let it run out because they can't build reserves at those speeds without powersliding into walls. I usually pass them.

Everyone's trying to get those 3 first place wins/win with Tawna.

From my experience that map brings out the worst in everyone, you've got trolls camping boxes for clocks and orbs, you've got angry people rage quitting, youve got asses that'll hang back behind someone playing as Tawna just to hit em with shit the entire race and make sure they can't get first, and you've got the players that absolutely refuse to give up a win to help another player out no matter what.

Only way to enjoy the map is when it wittles down to 4 or less players

>Graphics are great but somewhat overdone at points, doing time trials in some stages make it hard to get all the crates with all the bloom and overblown colours (see hot air skyway), and sometimes there is too much shit in the way of levels, detail that wasnt necesary really.
>The shitty invisible wall hitbox and somewhat messed up hitboxes that half the time will ruin your time trial run or relic run when trying to make a tricky jump or skip
>Online is kind of a mess.
>Music is hit or miss, half the time i just rather use the original music (which is still low quality rips instead of the pre-console mixes, seems josh mancell is only credited because of the usage of the old music, not actually being involved in the game development)
>Attention to detail and fanservice is excellent, there is references to all sorts in every stage. Wish the character portraits were hand drawn rather than just lazy renders.
>Voice work could be better/more charming. examples being Aku/Uka Masks, some characters (Trophy girls for example, they are just sound pretty generic)
>Skins are meh (not really like them that much but the kart customization is good), but hey its customization so it always adds a nice twist to the game.
>Cast is not the best right now but its easy to assume they are saving the best ones/fan favorites for the grand prix events.

This is probably going to be controversial but this it the only time I get to say this so oh well:
Did it meet my expectations? Yes and no.
Starting with positives:
-The game looks absolutely stunning and seeing characters like Crunch done in hd is a wet dream come true.
-The music is really good.
-Physics feel identical to the original except a few minor differences that don't take long to get used to anyways.
-Characters are awesome. Very little clone characters or characters that don't deserve to be there.
-The amount of love put into this game is amazing. Nsane might've been good, but didn't have all the soul that nfueled did. The cutscenes are super fun to rewatch.
And now, the part where I say "no"
I suck.
That's it. I can not get the driving down for the life of me. I gave it a few weeks on nonstop play and I just can't manage to get them down, to the point where I lost interest and went back to trying to beat ds2 which isn't much better but whatever I guess

Turning has always been fucked one way or another. This tech also makes Balanced much more shittier than it should be. And no I don't think Oxide uses this at all but he does take the turn very quickly on the second and third lap.

Want my advice? Wait a few patches. Balanced characters have pretty misleading and pretty terrible stats all-around, while Turning characters are terrible in general. If you're using them, I'd say to wait until they get buffed or something first.

Yes and no. Adventure mode was great, everything after is complete shit but that's thanks to Activision seeing a kart game and thinking "we should make this an MMO" so it's now all about grinding. Spend as little time on the ground as possible. Boost late as hell and do a courtesy hop after every powerslide, and avoid inclines like the plague. Make sure you hop twice before going up steep ramps. I call it double bounce and it sends you higher than normal very often.

I speak from anecdotal experience because my game crashed exiting online and borked my global save after the patch that fixed the time trial bug. PS4 pro for what it matters.

Feels something akin to a placebo effect. It looks and sounds different. Messes with me on here but no the cars don't affect anything and speed characters all function the same as do accel, etc.

I would still probably pick Crash and Balanced tbqh. I can't do my boy dirty like that and I like the balance of speed and turning radius that the class has. I can play Speed/Acceleration if I have too but I certainly don't enjoy it.

As someone who had basically everything unlocked in the base game pre-event, what the fuck are you talking about. If it wasn't for this event I'd play for coins to clean out the shop and that's it. Literally the only thing keeping me playing right now is coins, and was nitro until I unlocked Motorsport Tawna just now.
Same goes for the 5% kart but honestly I could stop playing now for the rest of the month and still be top 5%.

Looks like you are the on who needs to do some research. I played a turn character on Meteor Gorge alongside a really good player who used Coco. No clocks or orbs involved and we both played perfectly. I was ahead of him for the most part of turn 1, cause he ran into a vial. But by the end of it, he had caught up to me and ended up winning, just because his character is better. No joke, I played perfectly and he still won.

Because you play online that has bonuses 7 days a week. You're commenting on a situation that you have no experience in thus can't understand what it's like for people stuck right in the middle of it. Coins and Nitro are an absolute grind for people without online and with Beenox patching the only thing helping with that combined with nerfing the coin rewards for 10 tracks they're outright punishing people for not paying for their internet twice and making the game all about grinding because of it.

I have put countless hours into several Mario Karts as well as Sonic Racing Transformed being at the top of my most played. A good game dosn't need bullshit to keep it alive, a bad game needs crutches to keep playing and CTR is currently hosting an event to force people to earn currency.

Brio and Cortex and the possibility of him being a random child that was raised by Cortex or some shit like that that grew into the N. Gin that now exists that then went crazy with the rocket while working with Cortex and could have previously known Crash/Coco in some fashion.
