Nomura threw a pissy little bitch fit because Square wouldn't let him make Versus.
I liked Dream Drop Distance (more than most people) but the amount of set-up that KH3 had to deal with was ridiculous.
At its heart it wanted to go back to KH1-style Disney adventures but the plot couldn't help but rear its ugly head.
KH4 needs to be a soft reboot.
Nothing is wrong with Raps
No Final Fantasy characters
Most likely that everyone that's old enough to post here, is above the target demographic?
If you were old enough to like KH1 when it came out, and still loved KH3 when it came out, I envy your non-progressing brain and ability to immerse.
This isn't a case of growing up, I enjoyed DDD when it came out and still enjoy it, 3 is just an objective downgrade on 1 and 2.
Story and just general writing is objectively worse though also all the voices are different.
Kingdom Hearts 1 was a well planned adventure.
The first boss on the island didn't do shit and was no threat but was imposing to start of the game.
Following after that was fighting Leon (puny human), some cards and a big toy in Wonderland after that a guy with a rifle and a cat in the jungle. Every boss became bigger and more threatening and the story enfolded in a natural way.
KH3 felt like Nomura planned the beginning and the end and just outsourced the complete middle without giving a single fuck. The worlds viewed separately are fine, not great, not disasters, just fine but when viewed together it's obvious that all the creators thought "wouldn't it be cool if we did this" again and again and again until they had enough worlds.
No growth in urgency, no growth in threat, no growth in power just a long slog in the middle that didn't contribute anything.
KH2 >>>>>>>> KH1
