2 is god fucking awful. I am convinced that most people here who shill Fallout 2 have never played it.
The only objectively bad part of 2 is the tutorial dungeon. Other than that it's every bit as good as 1. At the very least it's a much better sandbox experience with far more options available for roleplaying in the form of becoming a boxer, pornstar, mobster, sheriff, etc.
not in the slightest. I have played fallout 1/2 many many times. I prefer fallout 1 but fallout 2 is still a really great game (atleast with the restoration project)

I beat Fallout 1 several times because of how short it is. I probably had the most fun being a low INT physical powerhouse who just bludgeoned everything that got in my way.
I only beat Fallout 2 once, but for some reason I have much fonder memories of it than I do of 1.

New Vegas has been played by more people on this board than 1 and 2, it also has more immediately memeable iconography and characters than 1 and 2 do. Many would also consider it one of the best in the series. This is why it gets posted about the most.
The fact that you draw from this that everyone must be lying about playing Fallout 1 and 2 is where it looks like you're projecting because its a weirdly pointless conclusion to draw and oddly specific.
i played Fallout 3 and i enjoyed it but somehow every time i started playing Fallout New Vegas i stopped after an hour

fallout 1&2 suck ass
I beat 1 and 2. And I've replayed 2 a couple times after that.
2's like my favorite one now.
I like new vegas, but after playing the originals, they just feel so much smoother to play than anything I've played developed on beth's engine. And they're isometric, turn based, 2D sprite games from the 90's.
There's more you can do in them seemingly too. You can actually kill children, and the game will have serious but reasonable consequences for doing so. Traits are amazing. You can go from beginning to end without killing anything, at least yourself, and at least in F1, I believe. They're non linear as fuck. You can kill pretty much anybody, even quest important fags. If you just go a little left from the starting location in 1, you'll find the like final dungeon.
They're just so charming too. ALL the music's incredible.
Goddamn they're just so good, and I wish they could've finished the real fallout 3. Bethesda obviously doesn't give an absolute shit anymore. Not even about their own ip, fuckin ES. I hope everything they make from now on flops until they have to sell the fallout ip back to obsidian.
