>decide to build a collection of shitty huts in the middle of a patch of dirt

fucking stupid

Are there any other settlements in the game? Beside the ones that you can make of course. I haven't played F4

have you ever made a game?

Goodneighbor, the shady gangster city.

your stoopid

That's it? Just one more settlement? I can't believe it.

Yeah, very lackluster

have you ever made sexual intercourse?

Everything in this game was shit and/or retarded BUT the shooting actually felt good in a Fallout game for the first time.

Attached: 1562457793568.jpg (601x625, 73K)

There is also Bunker Hill, the town based on trade. I think those are all the settlements that are not rebuild by the player.

Also Bunker Hill, Covenant and Vault 81

Diamond City... Home.

I prefer this Diamond City.

>structurally sound
says who? I would say it means something if the only ones who dare to make their homes their are literal nigger-tiers like mutants. They probably aren't as structurally sound as you're implying.
>decide to build a collection of shitty huts in the middle of a patch of dirt
Idk if you know this, but it's not exactly easy to make viable building lumber. It's a very long process of growing, cutting, and drying that can takes months to years. Besides, the natural fortifications of the stadium made the perfect little bastion of safety for a community to flourish in spite of the legions of niggers and ghouls running around. It actually makes sense they'd settle somewhere like diamond city. What doesn't make sense is that it's all still single-story when they clearly have the ability to build upwards and are still largely protected by the walls even at 30 or 40 feet up.

>structurally sound steel skyscrapers,
>entire load bearing walls have fallen out and floors have collapsed.

I dont see obsidrones ever call out nu-vegas for having the entire strip be 3 shitty zones. Obsidian and their fans are hypocritical hacks.

>No risk of structural failure killing everyone randomly
>large wall already built with fort like vantage points
>fortified entrances
>small mind leeches in the water supply
>implying post apoc faggots care about how their houses look
>multistory shacks

The sky scrappers are a horrible idea unless everyone living there is a supermutant brute that can hold his own. Its extremely easy to siege and could be brought down(killing everyone there) with a well placed rocket or a single nuka grenade/mine.

No it didn't

>the only reason the shooting/gameplay even got improved is because they (Bethesda Game Studios) literally had DOOM devs fix it for them

Attached: 1499907670630.jpg (750x728, 270K)

h-haha i've had sex haha

Shooting felt like shit because there were no guns that were worth a damn.

Like seriously whoever decided there needed to be 20 variations of pipe gun needs to get put on anti-retard meds.

piper is better than any companion ever created.
fight me faggots.

it would be pretty easy to shoot a nuka over the wall

The zones were because of limitations

>terrible engine
>restricted to last gen consoles
>smaller team
>smaller budget
>shorter development cycle (18 months to Fallout 4's five YEARS)

Or just destroy a section of the wall, be it by blowing the fuck out of it or a mutant behemoth.

Not every shmuck in the Commonwealth has a Fat Man
Its literally made out of steel

3/5ths of the buildings in Fallout 4's Boston have no structural damage whatsoever. There are hundreds of intact brick walk-ups and apartment buildings which would be one million times better than hand-assembling scrap metal shacks with no insulation (New England experiences winter, you know).

And again,
>working elevators
>working lights
>working powered door systems
none of which would be the case if there was literally any amount of meaningful damage to the building superstructures.

>Its extremely easy to siege and could be brought down(killing everyone there) with a well placed rocket or a single nuka grenade/mine.
Then why are they unassailable fortresses for all the humans in the area when they're occupied by mutants?

Furthermore, why would they build all their structures in the middle of the green, instead of on the existing stadium foundations - or, better yet, just live in the actual support rooms for the facility? Modern stadiums are filled to the brim with extra interior spaces and storage areas.

The field should've been a farm and a resevoir, and the buildings should all have been build up on top of the bleachers.
As usual, Bethesda's method has been to choose the ugliest, stupidest route for worldbuilding
>because you would've forgotten it was postapoc if literally everyone didn't live in shit and squalor

Diamond city has walls.

And?

>people live in buildings instead of tin metal shacks
>things generally make sense
>casino gangs form clan cultures, all kept at peace by the will of a technological overlord
>architecture and culture interact with each other
>there are actual farms outside, making the existence of a permanent population plausible instead of silly

8/10, better than anything nubethesda has come up with

Megaton is the comfiest Fallout city

>DUDE, LET'S BUILD A CITY IN A CRATER LMAO
>DUDE, LET'S MOVE A FUCKING ARMED NUKE INTO THE CRATER LMAO

It's a pity that 7/10 Fallout NV players end up killing House despite him being the entire reason NV is still around.

I don't think it matters, the character models look like garbage anyway. Everybody looks like they're made out of wax.

I agree with this, while i prefer new vegas to all Beth Fallouts, they got it right with Megaton

The armed nuke is the cause of the crater (which doesn't make sense since it never exploded).

I thought they built it around the nuke

megaton is the ultimate proof that bethesda has completely missed the point of the series.

Fallout 1 and 2 are about technological societies in a wild-west post-Americana wasteland, and the dangers that they face, as well as the dangers within themselves.

Fallout 3 and 4 are about wallowing in muck and fighting stormtroopers.

>tripfag
>whore
Discarded.

I might be remembering it wrong, but wasn't the crater made by an airplane crash?

Fallout 3 was meant to feel genuinely post apocalyptic and they did a good job.

>It's the largest settlement in the west. Discuss.

Except it's nowhere near that. Vegas is repeatedly marked as a shiny gimmick, it's a bubble of old world lights. It's a theme of the story.

The Hub, the Boneyard, New Reno and probably even Vault City are way, way bigger than Vegas is in the lore.

Nice try though.

Nope, the crashed plane was in FO4.

It was. That's where they got the metal to build the city.

Wrong. It's actually Modoc

The shitty story and shitty weapon design killed this game for me. They really just pulled the dumbest designs out of their fucking ass. Its not like there arent good looking guns in previous games so what the fuck happened? A fucking mag fed lewis gun assault rifle? Really?

A Fat Man renders pretty much everything short of a Vault an unsafe settlement really and that is kind of the point isn't it? If you are lobbing nukes you are going to destroy the target.

The Assault Rifle was specifically designed to be a huge gun wielded by power-armored soldiers; and in their hands, it looks cool and makes sense.
It should've been called the Machine Gun and left as its own thing.

Attached: t-51-power-armor-camoflage-retexture-fallout-4-1.jpg (1920x1200, 744K)

It was the machine gun during development; it got renamed after the original assault rifle based off fallout 3 was dropped.

Why Bethesda can't into actual cities?

Except it doesn't fit with the 50's retro-futurism aesthetic seeing as it's basically a bastardized Lewis gun which would be more in line with a steam-punk early 20th century game. The fact that there are these hulking powered exo-suit soldiers carrying outdated weaponry is jarring and moronic. Never mind the fact that they are firing 5.56 which only makes it all the more retarded.

Takes time and effort, which is why they completely removed most cities in Fallout 4 and introduced a shitty build mode instead to fill the gap.

she has poor benefits. At least the android can hack and the Irish cage fighter girl can lockpick. Piper has what?

My idea of a comfy city doesn't involve a undetonated nuke in the middle of it.

You can't compare shit to FAllout 1 and 2 towns. They were all 2D and tiny as fuck.

Better than Whiterun.

The shooting and overall FPS experience were garbage. AI was absolutely atrocious, if you honestly praise the FPS part of this game (or any part of this game, for the matter), then you confirmed have a shit taste of an undemanding 8 year old kid.

Oh boy, I can't wait to play my FPS with forced mouse acceleration!
>but you can turn it off
I shouldn't have to go into config files to turn off something so depressingly bad.

>decades since the last bomb hit

What can you expect from a nation of mutts and inbred mutants?

Shit,forgot pic

Attached: PYbiugD.jpg (604x507, 58K)

Diamond city with a giant wheat farm in the middle would have been Kino

Really? Who do most people side with?

>generalizing a nation of over 300 million from a single fictional video game

>the Great War was fought with nuclear warheads delivered by ballistic missiles
>the bomb in Megaton is a plane-dropped weapon

Bravo, Bethesda.

Anyways you build your own robutt so you can get a fuck ton more carrying space. That or you just go dogmeat.

if only the art style was a bit darker and serious, and the story not terribly written, and better quests and scripting. more unique weapons

I can only enjoy Fallout 4 when I side with the Brotherhood. They've now reached the point where they'd unironically fit into the 40K universe with very few changes.

Attached: bos_fo4_cover-4115.jpg (500x500, 113K)

Pretty funny how the Brotherhood expedition force has more people than the largest commonwealth settlement

>has a fully functional elevator
>the buildings are still 2 stories tall and feel like they're still uninhabited

Attached: 1560191412450.jpg (183x178, 16K)

There are, but the list is horribly lacking compared to 3 and NV.

>Deliverer
>Cryolator
>Junk Jet
>Broadsider
>Alien Blaster
>Salvaged Assaultron Head
>Tesla Rifle
>Acid Soaker

I'm not saying they're good, in fact most of these are absolute garbage, but they do exist.

I'd honestly join the railroad more if Glory were an actual companion. But nah, she dies no matter what. And for that reason alone I destroy the railroad every playthrough.

Bunch of religious zealots. Enclave is the way to go.

Yeah, they would be much larger in 3D.

I just had three sex while writing this comment wait make that four ahh have you had sex while posting? Heh doubt it lameo

Yeah they cut down on uniques because of the retarded legendary effects

whats the best settlement in this game to build in?

>It's a pity that 7/10 Fallout NV players end up killing House despite him being the entire reason NV is still around.
Doesn't matter since House ending is cannon in everything except game.
Honestly I can't imagine how much of a fag you would have to be side with any other faction.

But they really dont, also they just blow up a perfectly funtional, extremely advanced underground lab worth of hundreds of years of RND and whatever else valuable resources and tech.

Diamond City? Size is all it has. That settlement has the inferior tron, don't you know?

>Mobile military force in a floating airship LARPing as knights, slaughtering muties, ghouls and synths while championing for humanity as #1
>Not full blown 40K
Also the Brotherhood are only interested in pre-war tech. They also despise anything and everything related to FEV, which is what a good chunk of the non-useless Institute tech is related to besides maybe the teleporter.

DIAMOND CITY SURPLUS!

Considering their stance on the institute itself I wouldn't be surprised they'd just shoot Virgil on the spot despite him literally creating a cure for the FEV virus, even if it's just for one strain. Even though the institute is written like complete shit I still find them more sympathetic along with the minutemen compared to the other factions. At least they got actual goals in mind. And hey there's quite a few people in the institute that are sick of the bullshit they do and actually do want change within it, it's just it's biggest problems are Father and the SRB. Ayo is a complete cunt.

Most of the playerbase handn't played FO 1-2, so they don't know the lore and how fucked NCR are, they go for them.

>At least they got actual goals in mind.
They do? I played the Institute's route and it seemed like they just wanted to be left alone to do science.

They actually order you to execute Virgil

...

>Considering their stance on the institute itself I wouldn't be surprised they'd just shoot Virgil on the spot despite him literally creating a cure for the FEV virus
They would, because he's a filthy mutie and everything he spouts is drivel by default. The only reason the Brotherhood don't slaughter Nick and Strong is because Bethesda can't be bothered including interactions like that.

to be fair, if only New Vegas is considered, the NCR do seem like the good guys

There are no good guys in FNV, NCR are more like lesser evil.

Yeah the do a good job of painting them in good light.. But thats also talking to NCR people.

Well they're official motto is "humanity redefined" but it seems to differ between each director. Although with you as the director I guess it's just up to your interpretation on how you wanna do things. But it's bethesda were talking about it so the writing is what it is. I'll actually give them props for that quest where those scientists lock down the bioscience division and have a full blown mutiny in protest of you being director. It's a nice pace where you're usually just made top dog in a faction and everyone immediately loves you for it.

>Americans make retarded generalizations about Europe
>OH MY FUCKING GOD SHUT THE FUCK UP GOD YOU FAGGOTS ARE SO RETARDED
>Euros make generalizations about America
>HOLY FUCK BASED BASED BASED BASED AND UH REDPILLED HOLY SHIT LADS MY FUCKING BALLS JUST DROPPED FROM LAUGHING AT THIS BASED AMERIMUTT MEME
Can you guys like fuck off please?

Part of the main reason I can't stomach the Minutemen.

>Durr you're leader now because I saw you shoot a gun for five minutes

The Institute are unironically shit scientists and are outclassed by all the other Scientist factions in other Fallout games

It's like right next to Diamond City too lmao

can you please just fuck off. Why do you cunts insist on turning every thread in a /pol/-tier Americans vs Euro shit throwing thread.

This is Midwest Brotherhood of Steel territory. It's the largest stretch of land under one faction in the wasteland. Discuss

Attached: FOT_MWBOS_reach.png (570x418, 325K)

Midwest Brotherhood always looked retarded

Gonna get retconed by Bethesda.

In Bethesda lore they were destroyed.

When?

I hate FO4 (pirated only, never beat it), but Diamond City did have farming within the walls.

I still like them but boy does it hurt how much wasted potential there is. They would've been a GOAT faction if they bethesda put more effort into them. They could work out really for a dialogue heavy type faction like more director meetings in the story where you can decide on new projects and policies and mediate between departments with their internal politics. Thanks to SRB and their practices there shouldn't be any shortage of that.

>Well they're official motto is "humanity redefined"
It's weird how they have this motto and the early parts of the game present the Institute like some ebil transhumanist cult trying to replace everyone with synths, yet when you get there barely any of them think synths might be people and they just treat them like appliances and handmaids. I have no idea what "humanity redefined" meant, some writer probably just threw it in to sound lofty.

No one would ever have a reason to build metal shack buildings on stilts. Maybe as addons to ground level shacks, but not by themselves. Morirardy's bar or whatever his name was makes no sense as a building.

Yeah, now that you mention it that doesn't make much sense. It would have made sense had Father kept the cybernetics/augmentation program running that kept Frosted Corn Flakes alive for so long, that's redefining humanity. But human toasters that make breakfast and get annihilated in combat by Assaultrons don't fall under that.

YIPPIE YAAAAYYY

I feel like Bethesda hates americans. In all their Fallout games post-war american society as utterly retarded lunatics. They live in metal shacks while there are sound buildings, can't scavenge the food from the supermarket that is 100 meters away from their "town". Also, they never made a Fallout game set on West Coast, always in New England, as if they think NE is superior. THEY WANT USA POSSESSED BY BRITS AGAIN! Yeah, they kinda created this patriotic theme in FO4 and FO76, but I feel like it's only a sham.

Attached: Republic_of_Dave.jpg (1200x900, 318K)

After Rome fell, people would do this in the Colosseum. The walls provide defense barriers that you can't get with skyscrapers

its weird how the story of F3 and 4 suck so hard. Making it a primary goal to find your father or son is just the most boring shit ever that is at odds with the open nature of the game. Its way too much agency for an open world game.

They just did a really, really shit job of handling the "synths and what is humanity" themes. I mean you can already see people in the institute have sympathies with thinking that gen 3 synths being closer to humans than anything else. Other than just plain bad writing I blame Father for being a paranoid cunt. But in his defense we already know what happens if you side with the Railraod and BoS. Still, the institute by large has some shitty culture and attitude problems overall that could be ironed out over time. People would be less terrified of them if they worked to be more like a benovelent authority over the commonwealth. If they gotta synth people just synth the raiders, ain't nobody gonna give a shit about that. Just some nasty raider sluts and synth them into the perfect waifus for the people of the commonwealth.

Why would a water cooled WW1 style weapon fit in Fallout 4as anything other than a special weapon found in some history museum

Family theme is a plot device that doesn't need motivation. Sign of a talentless writing.

It could have been accidentally dropped. Look up Eureka, NC. One of our bombers accidentally did this, but luckily the bomb didn't explode

I see Fallout 2 doesn't exist in your world

does fallout 4 have a graphics mod/enb? those textures are ps2 tier

>bethesda fallout

Show me proof

>When you download fallout 2 but have no children in it.
>Then you found a fix for that and you can finish the quest.

I thought there was always a deathclaw between Megaton and the grocery storey, since my first two runs through one was there, and it always almost killed me and almost wiped out a Brotherhood Outcast patrol

so do skyscrapers

Kill yourself

The shooting felt like ass. The game's framerate, even on high end pcs, fluctuates far too much for consistent accuracy. At least 3 and NV the gunplay was slower so the framerate affected it far less, though the framerate in those games fluctuated far less anyways

STALKER isn't post apocalyptic though, the rest of the world outside of the zone is pretty much the same. It's more or less just Ukrainians and Russians

Then don't use the shitty pipe guns

Compared to 3 the shooting was better

based

It's a starting location, there's only a pair of molerats.
Ukraine, living in a war zone, can confirm.

I know. I'm just saying in my first couple of runs a deathclaw managed to wander in that are

I think the encounters there are random

They are yankees, after all.

You mean Red Socks.

what a fuckign stupid braindead response, the complaint is that the time it took to develop 20 variations of the same gun couldve been used to make a handful of actual new interesting weapons.

Why make an interesting weapon when players can make it themselves?

The pipe weapon variants are interesting and I like them. They fit the setting better than having low-tier raiders run around with professionally manufactured weapons from 200 years earlier.

>a mod that makes 95% of the picture blurry
y tho
Fallout is one of the few games nowadays that is not made eye-hurting blurry, and you are destroying it.

but they can't, that's the point.

That's not the ENB, vanilla FO4 has a slight distance blur during radstorms.

That's the joke you dolt

Good job showing that you have no proof at all

>skyrim 2 is going to be even more dumbed down like fallout 4 was

Damn that game was fucking ugly, and not even charmingly ugly like 3 was:

It's easier to write fantasy than it is to write post-apocalyptic material

If that were the case then it would have been sat there for the best part of an entire century because ballistic missiles started to replace bombers in the USA in the 1960s, and by 1970 even the Royal Air Force stopped relying upon their Avro Vulcans as the primary nuclear deterrent with the introduction of Polaris missiles carried by the Royal Navy.

Come on now. This is TES we're talking about.

She realised she's trapped in Skyrim.

I can only enjoy Fallout 4 by playing it in survival mode or with the FROST mod on. It's painfully difficult but miles better than vanilla fallout

my guess is too many assets such as buildings, rubble, etc., concentrated in a small area. Rest of the Mojave is pretty empty

Hangman alley. Close to the center, makes it easy to get to places on foot

Based user

have you ever played a TES game besides Skyrim?

Density.
The outside is basically different shades of diarrhea brown with the sparse settlement/encounter sprinkled in between. F:NV also had many more spaces that were literally flat planes of sand with nothing but bugs in them.
Inside, there are many NPCs, clutter, buildings and quests to make you feel like the city is alive and lived-in. The engine also is shitty and to top it all off, the game had to run on ps3 and xbox360.

They weren't really canon to begin with

>implying being Russian/Ukrainian isn't akin to being in an apocalypse

Ahh yes, the real life post apocalyptic bandits from europe and America

Skyrim is just the most egregious example. The only TES game I can think of, that didn't have contrivances up the ass to make you the OH SO SPECIAL chosen one, is Daggerfall.
And that's because it was procedural open world bullshit with the same few "building blocks" cloned everywhere to simulate scale.

I was so disappointed in Diamond city. I expected it to be huge and sprawling. At least to bigger than Solitude which came out 5 years before. Seriously there was like 3 settlements in the game and they were tiny and ugly. There was also like nothing to do in Diamond city so i only ever went there to buy ammo and shit

>why are you standing infront of the turret Piper
>you fucking cow, stop moving me I’m chatting

They weren't destroyed. Fallout 4 even references them. The brotherhood just never made contact with them.

It's weird - an improvement, my bullets actually going where I aim, made the game worse for me. Shooting felt too easy. What a weird thing to say, but the shitty shooting of the other games unironically made them better for me

>waiting since Skyrim for someone to come along and knock Bethesda off it's shit-smeared pedestal

Fuck Nexus. Holy shit. Nexus and Bethesda with their shitty Creation Club are going to kill Bethesda modding.

use mo2

Open Vortex and go to your discovered games. Click the checkmark. After that, it will walk you through and help apply a fix for your mods.

FO4 is supported.

Need to bring in other dev teams to make anything worth a shit.

Wild Card is most picked according to Steamboat achievements.
Then it goes NCR > House > Legion.

In Arena you save the emperor
In Morrowind you can become the chosen one by fulfilling some prophecies (as others have tried and failed)
In Oblivion you help the emperor's heir
In Skyrim you're the chosen one by the third quest so fuck that

most people would rather have more weapons

Considering how famously shitty New Vegas's gunplay is, so does obsidian.

I have to admit, it was pretty cool playing FO4 for the first time, hearing references to 'Diamond City', but never expecting it to be a baseball diamond. I had all sorts of other possible scenarios imagined, but not the baseball one. That was pretty cool.

At least its not cartoonishly ridiculous like 4's combat was

>18 months
>But use literally every single thing in FO3 as base
Try again

still waiting for ammo tweaks 2

I too, prefer the hard-boiled realism of shotgunning Doc Mitchell five times in the face before he falls dead.

the stands should have had more houses.

I too, prefer the realism of walking around with a early 20th century looking assault rifle that covers half my screen and makes a sound straight out of a cartoon and shooting a super mutant behemoth 100 times before it falls dead and drops a hairbrush and a few shotgun shells

worry not, you'll find yourself emptying a container of rockets on legendary raiders in order kill them, in FO4

FO4 had much better gunplay and much more uninteresting guns

>The largest settlement in the west. It defenitely isn't. The NCR probably has bigger places back in their capital.

>FO4 had much better gunplay and much more uninteresting guns

Attached: heavy-pipe-guns-for-fo4.jpg (1920x1080, 186K)

I find rockets are strong enough, the issue with them is how ungodly heavy they are in survival. 7 fucking pounds a shot is rediculous.

Yes, it's outrageous Bethesda would make super mutant behemoths nearly as resilient as the first old man you meet in new vegas, where are their game design sensibilities.

I never used rockets and every raider in the game on survival mode always went down with 2 or 3 rounds of .308 at most.

retard

What are the best mods for settlement building? I want to have some autistic fun building cool little towns for my settlers to live in, and vanilla just doesn't cut it.

How are the ncr fucked? I noticed while playing that they get caught up in politics a lot, and their economics are a bit fucky, but other than that they seemed fine? Im a zoomer that never played fo 1 or 2 and i need everything spoonfed to me cause im a retard, yes, however im very curious and i wouldn't even know where to look for ncr lore.

playing the game for the first time, why the fuck does your character assume shaun is still a baby when you're looking for him? it's really annoying. does he not realize he was frozen again after he was kidnapped and that time possibly passed?

>I never used rockets and every raider in the game on survival mode always went down with 2 or 3 rounds of .308 at most.
So they essentially go out in a single shot after mutating? That's not how I remember it.

Don't fallout and even bethesda games in general have multiple cities? If so you can't seriously expect the devs to make each one even remotely close to a decent sized town. Even witcher 3 only had 1 city.

Because the FO4 protag is the biggest mouthbreathing retard to ever grace a Bethesda game, which is a huge accomplishment

nice argument

Oh the legendary ones. Yeah nevermind, that shit's dumb.

You're proving his point, my dude.

they're corrupt
Its outrageous when the Behemoths take 2 mini nukes to die

New vegas did it just fine
Also Diamond City is sized alright, it's just ugly as sin

>And do you care about Achievements/Trophies
Wouldn't matter anyway since modders already found a way to re enable them.

Attached: annoyed wojak.jpg (645x773, 35K)

pipe guns in fo4 are fucking stupid.
they're even worst once you realize that beth cut 90% of the weapon selection from new vegas to add these retarded things.

Oblivion had six or seven decently sized cities, and that's on the same engine.

The reason the framerate fluctuates is because Bethesda decided to fuck up shadows.
Medium settings hardly has this problem, but on High whenever you enter Boston you'll shoot from 60 to 30 and back again.
It's because on High Settings, shadow distance goes from 3000 to 14000. You don't even notice them from that far away, especially with the default FOV, it just demolishes your PC.

If you can build a thousand tin huts with working electricity, running water, and elevators then you can fix a fucking collapsed floor or wall. Most buildings are still standing just fine.

I've been trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with my game, thanks

the entire state is a mechanism designed to expand and consume, and when they can no longer do they it will crumble
they treat their leaders as infallible heroes, which leads to rampant corruption
Yes, this describes both NCR and Legion, one of the ironies of the faction conflict. The difference is NCR pretend that it's not happening and are blind to their inevitable downfall, whereas Legion is a tool designed for one specific purpose with self destruction planned for

>entire bus and mobile home are on top of shitty structures
how the fuck did they manage that

>We could have had sarcastic, tired of this world press member who has her faith slowly restored by your deeds.
>Or you confirm her thoughts on how fucking terrible everyone is by going the evil route and her leaving scene isn't her walking away, but finally admitting theres nothing worth living for and eating a bullet.
>Instead it's sassy, happy go lucky girl with cookie cutter morals you get in every game.

Fuck me man, why are companions always the fucking same in these games?

>so do skyscrapers
with lots of big glass windows

This was the exact moment when I knew Bethesda is dead

FO4's settings are shit. I recommend using BethINI High and then setting this in fallout4prefs [Display]:
fDirShadowDistance=4000.0000

In general tuning down Shadows in this game barely has an impact on how they look while massively improving your frames. Fallout 4 is optimized like complete dogshit, I cannot believe how many edits I needed to do in order to get it to run at 60 FPS on my 1080 Ti.

You can also set it to 6000 but there's barely a difference on anything but your frames.

Oh shit I’ll try this when I next boot the game. Boston always tanked my framerate and it’s nice to know there’s an easy solution.

not in Boston.

Attached: FinancialDistrict-Fallout4.jpg (1418x788, 382K)

Boston..20 FPS

The guy is right, FO4's gunplay was tuned to be much better than any of the previous games. It's just all-around better.
But something's missing. The gunplay, at a foundation, is better. But the guns aren't. There's too many guns that just feel weak. The few guns that are really awesome, Laser Muskets, Railway Rifle, are either quite limited or just plain suck after you've used them for two seconds.
All of the other guns are just redesigned guns that you've already seen from the previous games. I mean, hey, they look cool but they don't feel cool.
Legendary Guns and the lack of general Uniques hurt this even further. No Anti-Materiel rifles for you, only Legendary Pipe Rifle.

NV, even though it had faults, at least had some really hilarious weapons around the place. Unarmed takes the cake by a long shot, it's extremely simple and quite bland, but it feels awesome because the weapons are awesome. You cannot tell me it wasn't hilarious the first time you used a Ballistic Fist and you exploded a guy's head off, or it wasn't awesome when you took down a whole crowd with Pushy.

God this game looks like puke

>at least it was before I fucked everything up with mods

Can someone explain the more pressing issue...
Why are Bethesda so shit at world building?

It's been 200+ years since the bombs dropped and the east coast is basically still the same with little to no progress as if the bombs only fell a couple decades ago whereas the west coast(the real fallout) is centralised, has civilisation, elections, trade routes, logistics, armies, ideological pre war rivalries and massive reconstruction projects. There are multiple nation states and upto 2.3mn human survivors and 5mn ghoul survivors living there with the largest nation being the NCR with 1.1mn humans and an army upto 100,000 strong at best estimate. The NCR is continuously expanding in all directions, annexing and integrating tribes, clans and micro states.

Its army is said to be around 14 divisions strong. Which would vary between 140,000-375,000 men assuming they use the pre war sizes of 10,000-25,000 men per division which is very unlikely as logistically thats too much for the recovering population and economy to handle. So probably in the region of 70,000-175,000 strong which is why I think

Attached: U6hA7pb.jpg (1920x1080, 645K)

As a footnote, the new weapon modding is cool and all, but crafting and scavenging really isn't very fun to me in Fallout 4. Everything just feels too lame, like the story.
Sure it's cool to get a drum mag and all this other shit for a Pipe Rifle and turn it into a machine, but it still doesn't quite have the ridiculousness of a glove with a shotgun that fires when you punch someone.

Why was the institute making fully grown Super Mutants when all they were using or needed the FEV for was to make synthetic organs?
Why were they tagging and RELEASING Super Mutants into the wild of the Common Wealth? What purpose could that possibly serve?
Why can't you confront Father on the FEV experiments or for that matter ANYTHING they've done?
Why is there no point in the game where you can just sit down with Father and have a lengthy discussion about what exactly the Institute is fucking doing like how you could have done with Caesar and his Legion?
Why does the institute treat you like a drooling fucking retard no matter how high your INT is or your ranks in Nuclear, Medicine, Robotics, etc?
When you finally -do- gain control of the Institute, why can you not make any administrative decisions or actually command anyone? Stop Gen 3 Synth production, stop replacing people, etc..

Stand up and be counted, show the world that you're a man
Stand up and be counted, go with the brotherhood of steel.
We are a sacred brotherhood, who love our country true
We always can be counted on, when there's a job to do
We serve our homeland day and night, to keep it always free
And proudly wear our power armor, protecting liberty.
The bible, cross, old glory, too, our symbols of a man
A sword and water, armor and hood portray our noble brotherhood In search of peace and liberty, we pledge our hearts and hands
We must defeat the communists to save our christian land.

>Why are Bethesda so shit at world building?

Bethesda retro-actively made the Mothership Zeta ending where you fire the huge laser at where New Vegas would be so as to strip New Vegas of it's canonicity.

I always believed:
>Plane was carrying a nuke with the intention to bomb DC again
>Plane got shot down
>Nuke didn't detonate
>People used the plane's metal to build the town, but saw the nuke was still active and decided not to fuck with it

STOP ASKING QUESTIONS
STOP WANTING YOUR GAME TO MAKE SENSE
YOU ALL LOVED FNV'S FACTIONS SO WE JUST DID IT AGAIN

Now please come buy Hellfire Power Armor from the Creation Club. It's a cool mod!
What's that? You're just gonna download it from the Nexus?
Funny joke. I know you want a shitty BFG in your game. Come pay $7.50 USD for it.

Attached: TODD THE DEMON.jpg (214x250, 4K)

Is that actually true

It looks bigger when you include Freeside and the outskirts

The shadow draw distance is pretty noticeable from heights. These are the settings I use for 60+ on my Vega64 (with enb and a shitload of texture mods)

fShadowDistance=7000.0000
uiOrthoShadowFilter=3
uiShadowFilter=3
iShadowMapResolution=4096
iDirShadowSplits=1

Most of this is for removing the awkward shadow detail transition you can normally see 20 feet out and just sticking with

Is it just me, or did over time Fallout go from everything being curvy to everything being blocky? It's like it shifted from 50s Sci-Fi to a weird version of it and 80s sci-fi.
I'm not sure if I love it.

Two reasons
>Console limitations
>Bethesda engine
The second one is what made the first one so glaring. You can crash shit quite easily with enough NPCs in one area. I believe someone quoted it would only take 20-25 NPCs in a small area doing their routines to crash the game.

Because they don't need to be
They're a bunch of hacks who got really, really lucky and they only way they make money now is brand recognition
That being said firing Emil would drastically improve the next Fallout. You can tell what parts he was involved in writing: Valentine is boring as shit in the main quest but the moment you speak to him outside of its scope he's well written and funny

cool idea, natural defence but retarded execution as always with bethesda.

I can't stand ENB, it's too much of a performance hog. Most of them just crank up the bloom any way. I want my Fallout to be like the pic where it's like the world actually died rather than a sunny day out with a small chance of radioactive rain, more news at 11.

>fnv
>more weapons
>better perks
>ammo types

>f4
>shooting feels better

iirc they never actually mentioned this but releasing super mutants works in their plan to keep the commonwealth destabilised.
If you accept their dipshit plan of keeping the commonwealth destabilized then making an army of super mutant raiders follows logically. In fact it's one of the few times anything in game follows logically, so it's surely an accident

Piper is just a poor mans Cass

Piper is awful.
Dumb feisty journalist girl, seen that a million times in fiction. It's like Bethesda tried to make waifubait except forgot that waifubait is almost always obvious and makes for a completely god awful character.

No? Fallout went from art deco/gothic with tinges of americana propaganda and a splash of 50s sci fi to full blown atom punk jetsons wanna be garbage

Nigga you dumb? We invented time drank like yesterweek from now.

Reminder that the Minutemen are objectively the best Faction in the game.

Attached: EFF045D5-4BD8-44AA-ACFC-BEB2F1B8A045.png (970x627, 36K)

You're all forgetting the reason people are in Diamond city is because of the massive gigantic walls that protect them, try defending a lobby. You also need to realise what exactly is stopping some raiders planting some explosives below a sky-scraper if people were to move in?

I still think it looks fine, there's good creativity in the weapons here or there. Although the Americana as of late has started getting a bit droll, especially with the reincarnation of the Minutemen and the "Railroad", whose reference to American History was so painfully obvious that it instantly made me hate it.

You would think after hundreds or so years of nothing, people would actually make new construction. It's not even hard to make bricks. However, living out of destroyed buildings sounds so fucking dumb. Unless they're the atomic era buildings that are just impressive pours of concrete.
Its kind of why I dont like the fallout universe, everything is aluminum roofs or cratered houses.
It doesnt make sense. They go too hard on style.

Attached: gaza_mudbrick[1].jpg (640x480, 52K)

But people won't believe that we're in a post-apocalypse if everyone lives in houses equivalent to modern day Brazil!

>toon
>fucked up proportions

yeah, kys my man

I agree, it's just not Post Apocalypse if everyone doesn't live in a brazilian tin hut. What do you mean civilization, even at its most primitive stages, had housing? Hah!

You're assuming these people have the knowledge to do so, we invented new ways to house ourselves out of nessecity, in the Fallout universe this need is less so due to pre-war buildings. There-fore naturally technology would go towards fixing housing rather than to building new abodes.

I use this and it only costs me 4 or 5 fps:
nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5885

Running a basic ENB for nice detail shadows, less washed-out colors, and water reflections is well worth it.

>I want my Fallout to be like the pic where it's like the world actually died rather than a sunny day out with a small chance of radioactive rain, more news at 11.
Fallout 4 really isn't that kind of grimdark though, you may as well just play to the games intended strengths. The presets that try to mangle the overall atmosphere into something else also happen to be the ones that usually weigh the most in performance.

>more weapons
>better perks
>ammo types
What does any of this amount to if the actual FPS portion of the game is boring?

Attached: enb2019_6_16_00_48_57.jpg (1920x1080, 224K)

They explain why this is. The Eastern Seaboard got nuked the hardest out of all other places in America. This caused radiation there to last much longer than it did in the West and the Midwest, and so the Vaults did not open until much longer. Also, the cities of the Eastern Seaboard were in much more ruin due to being bombed the hardest, so there wasn’t as much intact buildings to live in, thus requiring people to build literally from the ground up, which would take more time.

There are 99 other numbers on the fucking sliders.

I would argue the need is absolutely there, a sealed household with the least amount of radioactive dust coming in would be the best.
In the post apocalyptic nuclear hellhole world, clean rooms between indoor areas and the outside world would have a measurable increase in life expectancy.
Cratered houses with thin aluminum roofs dont offer much to a sealed living area.

I guess so, even the soundtrack went from the ominousness of tracks like Metallic Monks to a lot of really nice sounding orchestral music, but the orchestral music doesn't have that same feeling of dread.
I might just be a nostalgiafag but I really do like Grimdark when done right.

>the best Faction in the game.

This reminds me that nothing about the Gunners makes sense more or less in retrospect.
They have access to an extensive amount of military equipment: arms, armor, supplies, and are disciplined, well trained, and have a dependable and stable chain of command. I think the game even mentions at one point that when the Castle fell it was because a large portion of the Minutemen defected to the Gunners? Is that right?

The point I'm trying to make is: why can't you negotiate with the Gunners? They're not drug addicts. They're mercs. They're only doing what they're doing because someone is paying them or there's money involved- which is often the same motivation the player has. A lot of the work you do literally fucking pays you, like, 90-100 or so Caps a pop to go and kill shit. So why can't you dominate them, assimilate them, join forces with them, negotiate a deal with them, literally do anything with them beyond just kill them on sight as if they were cannibalistic ooga-booga raiders.

The biggest problem I have with this game is just how little interaction there is with the factions.
Everything in FO4 is so fucking shallow.

>not Nick Valentine
your taste is shit m8

Because it makes up for it numbskull. Fallout 4 might feel better but it has no depth what so ever. New vegas lets me swing a super sledge at the same speed as a swining a pocket knife. or go full dead eye with a cyborg cowboy build using implant grx and a sequioa. Fallout 4 has what? Boring weapon upgrades that barely make difference aside from more bigger number. And perks that barely do anything interesting.

They needed an enemy military faction because reasons. They could have reused the Talon Company and explained the backstory of an already existing faction.

i loved the detective shit

that cabot house questline makes me want to throw up
>Maybe I'll finally travel to the Southwest. My father was always convinced that there was another alien city buried somewhere in the Mojave Desert.
embarrassing

Attached: thanks for breakin' my cow lamp.png (165x169, 8K)

They could have been interesting but
>KILL
>LOOT
>RETURN

They didn't even need that since they have raiders (one group could have stumbled upon a military cache if you really need full military) and there's multiple groups of Minutemen who defected/abandoned the cause who could easily fill that role without any changes

Valentine missions were the only thing i really enjoyed in this game

The writer probably thought it was a fun nod to NV but in the context of one of the worst, most nonsensical quests in a game that doesn't even try to be consistent it felt like a slap in the face

>I think the game even mentions at one point that when the Castle fell it was because a large portion of the Minutemen defected to the Gunners? Is that right?
No, it was because of a Mirelurk Queen. The original Minutemen finally fell because of the Gunners due to a top Minuteman officer defecting to them.

I'm pretty sure Arroyo has a population of a couple hundred thousand by the time New Vegas rolls around

Drivin' Through Diamond City!

It doesn't make up for it. Dumping more shit into the leveled lists isn't going to fix the weak fps gameplay. That's quantity over quality.

>Boring weapon upgrades that barely make difference aside from more bigger number.
The upgrades move guns into entirely different classes of weapons, add secondary effects, suppressors, various sights/scopes, add barrels, turn the fat man into a MIRV, etc. I don't think you really played this game.

>add barrels
>add supressors
Wow what an in depth weapon modding system

>obsidian
What if ww2 never ended and the 40's era American working class survived the apocalypse by living in massive bomb shelters.
>Bethesda
But when they emerged from the vaults they were actually the modern American working class.
With their vast knowledge of flipping burgers and stirring the Mongolian Beef they dissect technology from the past they make sick guns from pipes and screws and shit. Then they're off to build a water purifier from the somehow still irradiated water supply.

NOOOOOO
DON'T MAKE FUN OF OBSIDIAN, THEY CAB DO NO WRONG

Yes shit that fallout new vegas had lol. Wow scopes and suppressors 10/10. Too bad i played that shit and bought the fucking season pass like a retard

California got ass fucked to death with nukes yet in game 200 years later its the home to one of if not the biggest functioning society in north america.

FO76 seemed to do a good job improving on that, but I only played during that free week so I'm not sure what some of the higher level weapons are like

Adding extra barrels onto a weapon isn't a common feature and you were suggesting the mods only play with the damage numbers. It definitely has more depth than NV's system of picking up shitty_bespoken_pistol_23 off of a dead npc.

You dare imply that im not an honest user

Nobody wants to live in Bahston without nukes, why would they after?

Nv has weapon attachments, DT, AND ammo types. You have no clue what your talking about

What do you even mean by "adding barrels" doesn't the gun already have a barrel? And an entire slot type of weapon mods just change the damage numbers, while most of the other mods are trivial.

The shooting was garbage compared to other games released during the same year (MGSV for instance.) It only felt better relative to 3 and NV, and that's scraping the bottom barrel as far as shooting mechanics go.

Where should the next fallout be set?
Hard mode: has to be somewhere in the North American continent

Yeah, instead with have pipe pistol with an automatic receiver and an extended stock, pipe pistol with armor piercing receiver+, pipe pistol with a revolver receiver with a long barrel, pipe pistol with a bolt action receiver with a compensator and a scope and pipe rifle with a bolt action receiver using .50 cal ammo. Such variety!

Too bad it doesn't make any sense
>Hey bro I know its been two fucking centuries since the bombs dropped but heres some green tint for no reason

Cascadia or Texas

Somewhere in the southeast.
I see Florida suggested a lot, that could work.

New Orleans
One of the main gimmicks of the city is that half of it is underwater due to flooding.

>Liking Pipe Guns

New Vegas, easy

Who the hell cares? It'll just be another half-assed Bethesda game. Even if they picked an interesting location (see: DC) they would still find a way to fuck everything up.

New York City

how well would wario survive in the post apocalypse?

>professionally manufactured weapons from 200 years earlier
Or they could take the classic fallout approach and have something like the gun runners make new guns?

Now that the nuclear dust has... settled... are there any really good player made DLCs/Overhauls or is FO4 just non-salvageable?

The missile launcher can be upgraded to tri or quad barrel

I know you're being sarcastic, but I like that the game's most basic weapons have that level of extensibility, and so do all the other ranged weapons in the game.

actually that would be rivet city

Big stretches. In Oblivion the first mission is the fucking Emperor busting into your prison cell telling you about how he sees you playing a deciding part in the Oblivion Crisis. And it's nowhere certain that the prophecy in morrwind is just range, that's just one interpretation of it.

Attached: 1562209153091.jpg (1488x1600, 327K)

to be fair the nuke hit the map more down south but that's no excuse for west Virginia to be mostly woodland. in real life, once the nukes hit america (babylon) its going to be a desert place full of desert beasts which is spoken about in Isaiah 34

Reminder that the Brotherhood under Maxson stole their reactor and left them to die.

>so do all the other ranged weapons in the game.
No, they fucking don't. The pipe pistol is a great proof of concept of their weapon customization system. Problem is, they didn't bother to apply what they learned with the pipe pistol to all the other weapons. It's one of the most wasted opportunities in this game, beside maybe fucking up the town building so badly.

New York is a glowing crater in the Fallout universe

I didn't try everything, but after 3 attempts I wasn't able to mod fallout 4 into anything that I had fun playing.

Fuck off skynet

their emotions aren't real user. they're programmed to seem like real human beings with emotions to blend in. Escaped ones are just the equivalent of malfunctioning hardware

I've been playing Fallout 4 pretty much non-stop this past few months and ideas on how to improve it have been taking up space in my head rent free:

-There should be an option or side quest alternative in the Minutemen where if you're allied with the Brotherhood you can have the two forces join together as allies: they get crops, the participation of the local population, and they can act as an auxillery unit, while the Minutemen in exchange get a powerful militarized ally. Negotiations towards independence can be post-game.

-Strong is fucking whiny and annoying, but putting up with him should pay off. Having Strong Idolize you should give you a perk to recruit Super Mutants and establish Super Mutant colonies/forts/etc.. Super Mutants, though, should be an all or nothing: they don't mix with Settlers, so you can only have one or the other in a Settlement.

-The rewards for siding with the Institute should be tangible, enormous, and tempting- and not just more access to fucking "radiant" quests. Siding with the Institute should allow you post-game administrative decisions: cancel the Gen 3 Synths, access to MAKING Gen 1 & 2 Synths, MASSIVE amounts of resources to construct Robots, the option to restart the FEV experiments, etc.

-The Cloning Machine in Nuka-World should have been a MUCH bigger deal with HUGE implications. Once you completed that quest it should have allowed you to more or less stock the Nuka-World Map with a variety of cloned animals using the meat you hunt from wild stock as samples, effectively expanding the 'encounter table' of Nuka-World's wilds dramatically.
*What's more is the Cloning Machine should have further use depending on who you've sided with.

-ADA should be romanceable and actually have opinions on Synth-stuff, etc.. Be more of an actual character.

-The Gunners should be an actual faction and not just fodder. You should be able to negotiate, assimilate, or draft the Gunners into the Minutemen or Brotherhood.

Don't they completely fuck over that patriot kid by blowing up his home and leaving him to wander the wastes?

Yeah they do, the only real restriction on the other ballistic weapons is that they can't be converted to an from pistols. Energy and plasma weapons have the same level of modifiability as pipe guns. Exotic heavy weapons have fewer but more differentiated mods. Melee weapons admittedly have less overall but they have supporting armor mods and a few like the bats are as variable as the guns in the game.

I wasn't manufactured to imitate something

If a game is trying to be both at the same time, you can't ignore when it falls on its face at one of them. I don't give 4 a pass for being a shitty RPG and I don't give NV a pass for being a shitty FPS.

the human synths are clones not robots thou

non modded, 8700K 3200 speed ram GTX1080. still 40 fps.

Okay, and you were responding in a tangent to someone who was discussing gunplay. The perks in 4 are better than NV.

They have computer brains though

>The perks in 4 are better than NV
>me have more damage
>me take more damage

Now im just being baited

>Flooding
>Cooling
>Avoiding pests

the have meat human brains with chips in them
the chips don't even control them directly or anything, they just allow them to be put into a coma and get mindwiped

And what about Nick Valentine? He is clearly a robot type thing.

>spend 5 levels to get basic town building features
>incremental damage increases
>monster pacifiers
>anything related to radiation
>better than New Vegas
Wew lad

Attached: 1548864166157.jpg (300x300, 73K)

but how do you know this imatation process doesnt involve the copying of emotions that the original would have felt?

The only good thing about them is when you try and join up with them after immediately leaving vault 111. It's pretty funny watching everyone trying to figure out who the fuck you are.

It's been a while since we've had a FO4 bait thread. They used to be (You) factories years ago

Attached: 1549993133930.jpg (500x386, 68K)

nick and that other dude from the dlc are special
none of the other synths are like them

Imitation basically means copying user

>Perks that let you have cool abilities that can alter gameplay in a significant way such as adding new speech options that can change situations or can alter combat by allowing you to knock enemies down
or
>Perks that make you take less damage and do more damage

Also the NV perks are great for roleplaying

I'm not going to recite the entire perk chart for you but I count about 12 of 70 perks that are solely blanket damage/armor bonuses. Considering FO4's perks integrate the weapon percentage skills from the old games, you can safely say the perks and leveling as a whole in 4 are way more tilted toward creativity and novelty than NV.

And I can count the amount of perks that give you roleplaying capabilities: 0

This is what violently and erratically annoyed my about the Synths: they're not robots.
The 3rd Gen Synths are entirely organic and nothing about them is mechanical nor was it 'constructed': they're genetically engineered clones with a neural implant inside their brain. This implant is the only mechanical part of a Synth and acts as a USB port between computer and organic information- it's also their kill switch, command board, since it's connected to everything.
They're cyborgs at best and lobotomites at worst.

Now, I used the word 'erractically' because none of the previous Institute work in robotics actually got them to the point where they are with 3rd Gen Synths.
The 3rd Gen Synths were made possible through their experiments with the FEV in cloning and creating organic tissue n' so forth. The 3rd Gen Synths were fucking invented by the fucking Bio-Ward. The guys who're now in charge of CROPS.

>inflate the perk pool by removing the skills and making them perks
>SEE MORE BETTERER VARIETY

>but I count about 12 of 70 perks that are solely blanket damage/armor bonuses
Nothing wrong with that. The issue is beth just took out all the other perks and just left them and didn't even bother to expand on them that much.

>"woah shit dude watch out for that courser!"
>"coursers are so tough and scary!"
>"you'll NEVER beat a courser, forget about it!"
>"oh shit that C O U R S E R took out half a building of mercs!"
>courser's actually suck shit and are super easy to kill
did monkeys write this

I killed the courser by spam clicking with the Sledgehammer equipped

you have a serious fat mommy fetish user

The game sort of assumes you’re at a somewhat low level by the time you meet the Courser. And it’s not really hard, just fucking annoying to kill.

FO4 is level-scaled out the ass, though.

Florida would be boring. Not because I live in Miami, but because the landscape is dog shit and boring. Swamps and shitty woods.

You didn't need the shooting in 3 because of VATS. Then they fucked that up in 4 by making it slow mo live action.

You do know stadiums have more entrances/exits than your mom's seen dicks right? Lobby is much more strategic defendable.

Unless the series goes back to being an actual CRPG anything that isn't pausing the game for a dice roll is an improvement.

It was an improvement over 3 and NV in many areas but was still janky and the lazy animation for the lever rifle is inexcusable.

I just put the dismemberment mod and prone mod and ignore the rpg elements. it's good.

I like synth and all but the Railroad acts like some sarcastic heroic assholes that don't even know what's good
>Call synths "packages" even though they want to free synths
>Wipe memory and do a ShowLooksMenu on them so the Institute doesn't find out instead of finding a good place to hide or find a way to cut off with the Institute signal, you know like how DiMA did with his Acadia settlement
>Want to destroy Institute even though they're the only ones who understand how synths work. Bonus point for being the only faction who has access to fucking teleportation which would potentially help out the whole world. But nope, let's nuke it lol. Apply for the BoS as well.

why was far harbor so much better than the main game?

fill the entrances with concrete

they call them "packages" as a codeword
and the memory wipe is optional
being forced to blow up the tute is really dumb though

if mama murphy was a ghoul i could probably accept her annoying voice and overall character

Synths are property of the Institute and don't have rights. I don't give my car paid vacation either. Grow the fuck up.

Guns felt powerless. There was no kapow when you hit and enemy.

>I have reprogrammed this synth child who will never age to believe he is your real son
>Please take him with you
fuck you shawn

>Bandits bomb the bottom floor.
>Entire settlement dies.
Genius idea.

fallout 4 was total shit, who cares

Cars aren't sentient you dumb ape.

They live in shit shacks still. Think concrete is too advanced for them. Raiders on the other hand know precision blasting techniques to topple skyscapers by thermiting their joints.
