TES Races

Here's my almost-accurate deduction of what cultures the playable Tamrielic races from The Elder Scrolls are based on, and geographical locations that they live in, too.

>Red
Imperials (Nibenese)
>Orange
Imperials (Colovian)
>Blue
Nords
>Green
Bretons
>Cyan
Reachmen
>Maroon
Redguards
>Pink
Altmers
>Purple
Dunmers
>Brown
Bosmers
>Olive
Orsimers
>Yellow
Khajiits
>Lime
Argonians

Your opinions, questions, and input would be appreciated. Please be civil.

it's shit, you clearly don't know TES lore nor world history

Okay, then explain why you think it’s false.

I won't, cause ur a faggot LOL

Ha ha. Comedy gold.

literally everything is wrong

Argonians are Chinese
Altmer are Japanese
Dunmer are Indian

Nords are Scandis
Bretons are French
Imperials are Anglos who LARP as being Roman
Khajit are gypsies
Argonians are mexican day-laborers
Reguards are blacks who LARP as arabs

Elf races are whatever and don't really have real-world equivalents.

Slavs and Asians don't exist in tamriel
Orcish armor looked vaguely Asiatic in two games but aside from that theres nothing Asian about them
Aside from Imperials being similar to the Romans and Nords being Vikings none of the other races are analogous enough to any real world cultures to really say that they fit

It'd be nice if you'd explain your rationale behind each of them. Firstly, though, explain the Argonians.

>Aside from Imperials being similar to the Romans and Nords being Vikings none of the other races are analogous enough to any real world cultures to really say that they fit

I'd say Redguard culture is definitely based on the northernmost Sub-Saharan African regions that were Islamicized like Mali and Kanem-Bornu, what with their being black people using Arabic-looking armor and weaponry and living in very clearly Arab-inspired buildings. Bretons are pretty clearly Britons too, I mean fuck it can't get more obvious than that.

The analogy breaks down when you get to the non-human races in TES though.

The Altmer don’t have ancient heroes named Gaiden Shinji, and look up Murkmire.
LoTR plagiarism aside, no, Imperials have Greco-Roman, Slavic, southeast Asian, Caribbean, and Japanese influences, some are obvious due to proximity to other races and being ruled by foreign ones.
There’s nothing “gypsy” about the Khajiits, they’re playing the role of old world arab spice and silk traders, way back before the Americas were discovered. And the most well known Khajiit trader is literally called Saad without the Ri’ honorific.
Bretons are both Anglo and French, as shown by their naming convention and their rivalry back in High Rock.
The Redguards are the most not-Japanese rage on Tamriel, it’s all in their warrior culture, lore, and naming convention. Only the Tsaesci would give them a run for their money on that regard.

There are Colovians with names that end with “-lav”, and Skingrad exists.
Murkmire. They dress like Aztecs, live like Aztecs, and have an Aztec cuisine and supernatural myths. Kinda lazy, tbqh
Orsimers were shown to dress like Samoyeds and Mongolians, like throat singing, and their armor looks Turkic and Mongolian inspired.

Depictions from ESO don"t count

Why not?

Anything thats not in a numbered game is fanfiction

Make an almost-accurate deduction of what cultures the playable races from WoW classic are based on, and geographical locations that they live in, too.

But the developers, loremasters, and writers consider it canon. There are controversial parts that could’ve been done better, sure, but post-launch lore and content is *really* good, despite the grind.

Its filler that was made to pad out zones in an mmo
Theres nothing good about any of it

I don't think the races are based on nations per se.

I know, I’m just using modern borders for a cleaner paintbucket process.
Until Bethesda does their take on the regions they haven’t visited yet, it’s better to take Zenimax’s input as a consideration. At least they explain mundane lore and touch up more on topics Bethesda mentioned only once or twice, like the Reman Space Program.

>Reman Space Program
Unless something is directly shown in the mainline games its not canon
ingame books don't count

Okay, you’re just being obtuse now.

Germans should be Bretons as well

The Nords of West Skyrim, aka the New Holds, have Nordic names with Germanic origins or Germanic names edited to sound Nordic, unlike the Old Hold Nords with the Scandinavian names that are usually just Icelandic names with a letter missing or changed.

Not everything thats written in the books really happened in the setting
Most of it is insetting fiction or mythology

Except there’s in-game tangible proof, like the Imperial Mananaut helmets in Cyrodiil and the Sunbirds in Alinor.

After The Warp in the West anyone who takes ES lore seriously should be hanged by their cock.

>Imperial Mananaut helmets in Cyrodiil
Post a screenshot from Oblivion
>Sunbirds in Alinor
Alinor hasn't been in a game since Arena and I don't remember seeing one, might have missed it though, it is a big game

>anyone who takes ES lore seriously should be hanged by their cock
Everything fantasy is trash outside of Tolkien's work to be honest

Why?

Places and people in Highrock have names from all over northwestern Europe but most of the Bretons in the games have French names

And Anglo, looking at the Bretons in the Thieves Guild. I think it’s a yet another east vs west cultural divide.
