>7000
quite a small sample size to represent all of japan

Wth is Chrono trigger
Also rdr2 spastics heres a preemptive answer to your question
sit down

NieR Automata and Chrono Trigger are amazing, BotW is pretty mediocore though.

>7,000 votes from a country that probably has some 20-30 million gamers

Attached: 1561734746774.jpg (1024x576, 35K)

Meme Automata sucks and Mother 3 is better than Chrono Shitter

Is it fair to say that BOTW, is a amazing reboot of the series, and serves as a great foundation for a much better sequel?

Why did you even bother typing this, if you aren't even going to try?

>gamers
when the fuck did Yea Forums start using this term unironically?

Cope, also Japan hates Western games. Witcher 3 was the only one that made their top 100

2005

Yes, completely. BotW is missed potential: The game. I really hope the sequel fixes it's flaws and becomes one of the best games ever made.

no it's a great game in its own right and needn't serve as a foundation for anything else.

that's a big enough sample. it will be like 99% accurate assuming it matches the demographic.

Wtf? Even excluding western games and only accounting japanese games, I can think of games way better than these 3. Botw isn't even best nintendo game wtf.

>All the young staff and future of Nintendo are playing RDR2

COPE weeb

Attached: Screenshot_20190612-090454.jpg (1440x1790, 483K)

wrong. I'm guessing around 2015

> Developers = Normalfag otaku
Imagine being this retarded, Famitsu has only given two perfect scores to Western games in their 30 year history (GTA V & Skyrim)

most likely not
it also states that they were primarily Famitsu readers, so that viewerbase may have completely different tastes to that of other sites
it has to be much higher, maybe a few dozen more at the least

RDR2 would have gotten it too if it wasn't for the one bias easterner that gave it a 9. Reviews mean shit though.

Japanese investors saw the $$$ and sales RDR2 had compared to their "highly praised" game and want in.

>BotW is missed potential: The game.
In what way
people say this then say retarded shit like "it should go back to old 3D Zelda dungeons", even though BotW has the best-designed 3D dungeons in the series

So then why are Wizardry, SimCity & Witcher the only western games to ever make Japan’s top 100 games in their 25 year history?

Nier and botw are boring shit

Yes, but Rockstar drones will seethe uncontrollably

you have the attention span of a gnat.

2/3 ain't bad.

Some amazing games on that list. Oh and look at that, the top games are all ones that Yea Forums swears are shit because they're popular

Lacking enemy variety, extremely shallow combat (only light and heavyattacks, only 3 weapontypes which are swords, greatswords and spears), open world is mostly empty from quality content, pretty much every sidequests is a horrendously written fetchquest. The open world being so empty is probably the biggest flaw. If they just added more unique creatues like the Lord of the Mountain or unique weapons like the Mastersword, exploring wouldn't get boring after like 20 hours. For the first 20 hours it was absolutely fucking amazing, you found stuff like the Dragon on the mountaintop left and right, but later exploring just became boring. Exploring just to find another shrine or korok is the most disappointint thing in the world. BotW really is just a foundation for the best game, they basically just need MORE of the good stuff BotW has. Flaws like the shit combat and sidequests can even be ignore if they just keep adding more of the already good stuff. But as it is now, it's just like a little taste of how good BotW could've been.

Pretty great titles. I have such a low opinion of anyone who tries to say otherwise, when someone says they're "boring" that just means low IQ retards.

Where is STALKER thou?

1. Chrono Trigger
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
3. NieR: Automata
4. Final Fantasy VII
5. Okami
6. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
7. Final Fantasy X
8. Pokémon Red/Green/Blue/Yellow
9. Dragon Quest V
10. Xenogears
11. Vainglory
12. Suikoden II
13. Mother 2 (Earthbound)
14. Splatoon 2
15. Tactics Ogre
16. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (Monster Hunter Freedom Unite)
17. Kingdom Hearts
17. (tie) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
19. Final Fantasy XV
20. Final Fantasy XI
20. (tie) Pokémon Diamond & Pearl

Japan hates anything western that isn’t COD, Witcher, GTA, Skyrim or Minecraft

Pretty good list, much better than the shitty lists Yea Forums make. BotW is WAY too high though.

Final Fintasy is Japan's FIFA

>Pokemon Red and Blue above Gold and Silver
What a shit opinion

BotW, Okami, Pokemon, Splatoon, and FFXV are all much too high.

>Vainglory is #11
Jesus Christ the Japanese need to be rebombed

If anyone gets bombed it should be california & Israel

Why are faggots here posting RDR2?
Red Dead is okay, but it's not great or timeless. They found ways to push in political and race issues and there's no events that would push it's narrative into masterpiece territory.
Automatas first fight against the opera robot had more artistry than the entire story of RDR2, and that's before the second fight when you know what it represents.
Automata is probably the best game ever made based solely on the fact that it's story could only be told by being an interactive game, and the way it presents major philosophical outlooks through characters and their interactions.
It is art. It is leagues above anything else in this regard other than Shadow of the Collosus.
Yoko Taro is a genius.
The best narratives in western games could probably be presented better as books or T.V. series. Which is why they aren't masterpieces and never will be.

>Japan has shit taste
In other news, water is wet

>Automata instead of the first Nier
200% mad

>Lacking enemy variety
True
>extremely shallow combat (only light and heavyattacks, only 3 weapontypes which are swords, greatswords and spears)
That's only true of melee on its own. Melee, rune abilities and arrows are designed to be balanced and complementary.
>open world is mostly empty from quality content
Not true. The whole game is oriented around exploring massive beautiful vistas, though
>pretty much every sidequests is a horrendously written fetchquest
Some of them. Shrine quests are great.
>If they just added more unique creatues like the Lord of the Mountain or unique weapons like the Mastersword, exploring wouldn't get boring after like 20 hours
There's plenty of cool stuff, you just have ADD

BotW is a great game on its own. I think a sequel could very easily ruin it, so I'm looking forward to it with some trepidation

BotW is fine where it is. Ocarina of Time is way too high

Nip opinions can't be trusted because they historically have the shittest taste in the world.

>Why are faggots here posting RDR2?
Because Japanese devs can't get off Rockstars dick?

I FUCKIN KNEW IT!!! SAKURAI YOU MOTHER FUCK! PUT CRONO IN FUCKING SMASH!

Attached: 1550149642944.gif (728x426, 128K)

>The whole game is oriented around exploring massive beautiful vistas, though
You've seen every area within a short amount of time. What I mean is actually UNIQUE stuff to discover, like the Dragons, the Lord of the Mountain or the Mastersword. BotW is lacking in that department, there is no point in exploring when you already know what you will find (just another shitty shrine or korok).

>Automata
And guess what? GTAIV and Rockstar was it's main inspiration. Don't believe me? Here faggot

gamespot.com/articles/nier-psychonauts-and-other-devs-discuss-what-games/1100-6457827/

>Chrono Trigger
Menu-based games are instantly precluded from being good
>Zelda Breath of the Wild
Shitty unoriginal game
>Nier Automata
Shit game with a corny "philosophical" plot, but at least the fanmade H content is good

>Some of them. Shrine quests are great.
No, it really is almost all of them. Even the "best" quest in the game (Tarrey Town) is a glorified fetch quest. BotWs sidequests are boring shit with toddlertier writing.

>You've seen every area within a short amount of time
From the "obsessed video game addict" perspective, maybe, where you play it 24/7 for days on end. Not for most
The shrines are great, other than the copy paste combat trials.

In honesty I skipped that shit mostly. They didn't seem to be a heavy focus of the game, and the ones I did here and there had charm

20 hours aren't a lot and 20 hours are enough to see pretty much everything.
>The shrines are great
Shrines are boring unoriginal puzzles which all share the same music, textures, lore and rewards. There is absolutely nothing satisfying about exploring just to find something you've already seen a bunch of times. Exploring isn't worth it if you know that you'll find just another boring shrine. There's no sense of wonder or discovery.

Japan is a country that consumes more onions than anywhere else on the planet. This doesn't surprise me at all.

>20 hours aren't a lot
user, look at what you're saying.
>Shrines are boring unoriginal puzzles
Wrong. Best designed puzzles of the series. Really let the players get creative while still limiting them
>which all share the same music, textures
Aesthetic shit that has no bearing on how well they are designed
>lore and rewards
The reward (Spirit Orbs) are meaningful enough. Lore is some gay shit so I won't go into that

Automata is slowly becoming the most overrated game of all time. I can't wait till a new pretentious art game rolls around and people will start to realise it.

It really is Japan's TLoU.

Not everyone in Japan are famitsu readers.

A good puzzle isn't a cool discovery, it doesn't reward exploration at all. As I said, SENSE OF WONDER, something the beginning of BotW definitely had when you still found unique and interesting stuff.
>lore, music, textures and being unique doesn't matter!
Yeah, in a puzzle game. But BotW isn't a puzzle game, it's an open world game that focuses on exploration. People don't go exploring to discover nothing. A shrine is as boring and shallow as a discovery as it gets.
>Spirit Orbs
By rewards I mean actually interesting stuff. Because you know, I would actually like to go exploring if I didn't know I'll find another shrine with the exact same reward. Imagine if shrines gave you actually unique stuff and not literally the same shit +100 times. You just don't seem like a person who cares about exploration at all.

You’re thinking of DQ

>chrono trigger

based japs

Well obviously they need their cartoon fapbait to play anything.

how do you want to call gamers then?

>17. (tie) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Kinda expected. MGS3 is probably the most normie-friendly entry in the series.

There are plenty of landmarks that inspire awe. In fact that's the entire game. The joy is in slowly traversing a massive wilderness that dwarfs you. Shrines are pleasant surprises along the way.
Shrines are so short that I never really felt that the lack of aesthetic variety hurt them.
It seems to me that you're disappointed because the game didn't meet your unreasonable expectations. It's a game designed around massive sublime wilderness scenery, but because it isn't jam-packed with interesting things everywhere, even though there are quite a lot of interesting things, it irritates you.

>Famitsu reader poll

Fucking lol, that alone gives away why the list is so shit. For fucks sake, the magazine is a leftover shill for the Famicon and has always been trash. Even the mascot is ugly likely like the old japs that read it each month.

>Shrines
>Pleasant surprises
Opening a giant mysterious door just to find a fucking tiny ass 1 room cave with a shrine and a korok isn't a pleasant surprise at all, it's a punch in the gut.
>There are plenty of landmarks that inspire awe
All of which you will see within like 20 hours or even less.
>It seems to me that you're disappointed because the game didn't meet your unreasonable expectations
Replacing obvious filler shit like shrines with interesting stuff isn't unreasonable at all.
>but because it isn't jam-packed with interesting things everywhere
It doesn't need to be jam-packed with interesting things, but it could use more. An open world game with barely anything to discover simply leaves lots to desire.
>even though there are quite a lot of interesting things
No, no there aren't. Unless you're one of those people who unironically thinks finding a single statue in the middle of nowhere is interesting.

Attached: IMG_20181220_222015.jpg (1280x720, 112K)

>19. Final Fantasy XV
Into the trash this list goes.

I think you really just have a "more, more, MORE" mentality. very hard to satisfy.
>Unless you're one of those people who unironically thinks finding a single statue in the middle of nowhere is interesting.
How is that not interesting? what is wrong with you

honest question: how the fuck is Okami that high? i got it on sale for my switch and got to the star dragon thing at the very beginning and was so fucking bored of it. The humor wasn't anything special either. The fuck? It seriously played like dog shit, no pun intended.

Yeah, if a game gives me some good stuff I would appreciate it if it had more. Crazy, right?
>How is that not interesting? what is wrong with you
What is wrong with YOU? How is a fucking mere statue interesting? See pic related? THAT'S interesting. A completely unique mountain with a mysterious atmosphere thanks to the unique creatures, music and textures. A fucking statue doesn't even come close. It baffles me how I even have to explain that. Look up how people reacted when they saw a dragon for the first time, that's a discovery that's actually interesting and rewards exploration. Do you think ANYONE reacted the same when they discovered a fucking statue?

Attached: how-to-catch-lord-of-the-mountain-botw-2.png (633x356, 495K)

A lonely statue in the middle of a desert will always hold more mystery and power than a fluffy cartoon monster.

BotW and Nier are two fairly new that are still coasting on hype, that's not saying they are bad, in fact both games are good. But if they did this poll like 7 years after the fact than i don't think BotW and Nier would be as high as they are.

I can't understand why everyone's so crazy about Nier Automata. It feels so mediocre to me. It has everything that I should love but it's all disappointing.

Yuji Horii also came out and talked about this saying he thinks Breath of the Wild should represent the era, while Akihiro Hino from Level-5 said that or Dragon Quest.

That's probably around the time we stopped.

Is Chrono Trigger worth giving a try?
t.jrpglet

>8. Pokémon Red/Green/Blue/Yellow
>20. (tie) Pokémon Diamond & Pearl
I'm more baffled that the worst pair of games made to to the top 20, no wonder Pokemon is in such a sad state now.

>pokemon RGBY and Diamond/Pearl above Platinum
Opinions discarded. Chink takeover imminent

>gen 1/4 of all fucking things
>splatoon
>final fantasy 15
japs are fucking retarded

Yes, play it.

ITT everyone who hates everything comments on stuff people like
