I haven't played minecraft in years. Did they never add any other kind of illumination option? Like a lamp or anything that looks less fucking ooga booga?

this is so braindead. You should be able to establish a safe perimeter, light or no. Make it hard to do/ resource intensive, sure, but don't make it just dependent on light. It makes no fucking sense

Anything for large area illumination? sometimes a place can look a bit messy trying to keep mobs out with torches.
