Don't bring up morals when defending Trevor. Yeah, Micheal wronged him, but there are an untold amount of reasons as to why Trevor would be more deserving of a bullet to the head.

Niko was a soldier when Yugoslavia broke up. He's almost certainly done horrible things. And then he becomes a career criminal because he ultimately doesn't have any qualms about killing people for money.

CJ was petty gangbanger scum until he got his big break and hit the big time, where he moved out of the ghetto and into organized crime. Also has no issue casually gunning people down and as you see in the Introduction, he was also a violent carjacker, like you'd expect from a black gangsta

They're all mass murderers. Not even talking about the dozens of cops that they, at the very least, canonically injure if not outright kill, they do massacre entire criminal organizations. They kill predominantly bad guys, sure, but they're not standing citizens. Niko robs a bank and kidnaps a girl. CJ takes part in city wide gang wars and robs a casino. Claude kills people that would testify against that one corrupt cop you do mission for. They're not good guys, they're not nice people.

The thing about Frank is hes too agreeable. Its a sacrifice they had to make to make sure he wasnt too biased against one of the other protags.

Lamar feels more like what Frank shoukd have been like, maybe maturing more through out the story or becoming more of a psychopath, depending on if you side more with Mich or Trevor.

The way the story and Franklin were built up, killing one of them makes no sense.

Niko is the one who can be called "good" in a wide sense of the definition.
He is a horrible person and a war criminal, but he knows that, he mentions that he deserves no salvation but has side missions where he helps others for nothing so they can improve their lifes.
But the shit he does during IV is still worthy for a death sentence and he would be the first to accept that fate.

Michael and trevor werent written badly, it was that there really were no other good character to point that out indirectly.You got many great support characters in san andreas so CJ has many interesting interactions, what do you have in 5?
