Really the only people who should be mad are the people who would buy the Switch Lite. Most people aren't going to know that image on the back means it's compatible in handheld mode unless if they're explicitly told.

If it was $150 or came with a pack-in game I would defend it. Reason being the 2DS was $80 compared to the $200 3DS (60% price drop) and it came with a pack-in game. Meanwhile Switch lite is a 33% price drop and doesn't appear to come with a pack in game.

If they are going to strip the main feature/gimmick of the system then the price needs to be adjusted accordingly.
