Redpill me on gaming laptops.

2 hours of battery life
Gets super hot
Costs more than theyre actually worth

Buy a desktop if you want to play games, and if you really want to play games but are "on the go" buy a handheld or play less intense games on a weaker laptop

gaming laptops are good for shopping for a desktop

dumb retards like this that complain bout gaming laptops dont se the hyppocrisy with OPs question and their answer.

Saying a laptop is not for gaming is no different than saying a dsktop is an office tool and you should stick with consoles if you want to play games

theyre better than they used to be but its still more worth it to get a desktop in this day and age

I have an old asus g73 that has lasted me 7 years now. Pretty good investment and I do a lot of travel so I needed something mobile. Never had any problems either. Would recommend

Total waste of money

So are you saying that consoles are more powerful than computers.

The first two are non issues if you have a decent case and who the fuck doesn’t have a power outlet to plug into?

You can watch porn on them

Gaming laptops are like corvettes. Expensive, compact and pretty to look at, but they’ll crumple like a tin can

It's good if you want to game but have to travel a lot because of your job. Other than that, there is no point in buying a gaming laptop.

>give us your money goy, we need our profit margin to be 600% of production cost on this piece of advantaned tech :^)

Literally just takes advantage of people who are tech illiterate normies that think they want to get into pc faming

PC made into a console

Worth it if you travel alot and have the opportunity to play at work. Not worth it at all if you only play video games at home.

Even though they may have a certain part, the heat will probably make it not as strong. Also, they all are complete garbage in design that all just scream that you're a gamer. Very price inefficient as well. Only get one if you can't game on a console/computer due to being busy or if you just have cash to throw away.

I'm saying Laptops are as good as desktops and if you're complainig about laptops not being good for gaming then neither are desktops.
Stick to consoles because those are actual platforms designed for gaming

I have a Sager that's 6 years old now. Battery went to shit about a year in, but I always use it plugged anyway.

Good machine all-around, but I use it as a desktop. That said, if you don't need mobility for whatever reason, I say get a desktop. Cheaper, easier to handle the hardware, etc.

>Laptops are as good as desktops

But they do have shitty batteries, they do get enough to fry an egg on, and they are worth double what you can build a desktop for with the same specs.

That being said, I personally have a gaming laptop because I am constantly moving around and I can't lug around a whole rig with me but I want to play modern games on not shit settings. That's just about all they're good for: mobility. You don't need mobility? Don't get a laptop.

a laptop can be used for gaming, never said it couldn't. did you ignore the "play less intense games on a weaker laptop" part of my post?

but a GAMING laptop is too expensive for what you get out of it
you could spend $600 on a desktop that plays any relevant game at medium settings or $1400 on a gaming laptop that always needs to be plugged in anyway and still be stuck playing every game on medium because you cant upgrade it except maybe the harddrive and ram if youre lucky.

most consoles are just computers that run proprietary software anyway.

lmao

buy a chromebook and use Steam's remote play

they suck and will never be on par with a desktop.
it does not matter how much you spend, it will always be the inferior machine.

>have a friend who doesn't know jack shit about computers
>he fucking buys a 1000 dollar gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 and i7 4th gen
>ask him why he bought one when he never leaves the house
>"uh bro listen uh um uh it just wouldn't make sense"
>tell him he could of made a better computer if he just built one himself and told him earlier that I could help him build one
>"stop being dumb! I just don't want a desktop!"

He didn’t want to admit he’s both shit at computers as well as with money

get a desktop. i have a gaming laptop solely because a friend was selling it to me at a discount and it was easier to pack when moving.

>he fucking buys a 1000 dollar gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 and i7 4th gen
Literally me except for ~850 eurobuckaroos, also I do move my laptop around the house
>go to living room, plug laptop onto TV, play vidya with controller
>bring laptop to bed, watch some movies/youtube
>shitpost while laying on the couch
>bring laptop to balcony, shitpost while having coffee and cigarettes (pls don't speg about cigs)

prove that you're not full of shit there's no mobile 4th gen i7 with a 1060 4th gen i7 mobile chips were still shitty af.

This is true
He literally never moves his computer also shitposting at the balcony sounds comfy
sorry I actually am wrong here I think it was actually an i5 8th gen but still laptop prices are atrocious at times

The noise and 90C temperatures makes them shit. I have one laptop and two desktops.

1000 usd is about 850 euros

Self-defeating hardware that only worsens the more “gaming” it is.
Terribly inefficient power consumption -> poor battery life and high heat generation -> thin form severely limits airflow for heat -> any component deteriorating quickly as well as constant performance throttling from exceeding temp thresholds.
If anyone is ever going to have a gayman laptop, you’d best live in an iced and conditioned environment.

what if I am student or otherwise on-the-go and would like to play games on sudden freetimes? or would it still be better to get a cheap laptopt and stick to budget games?
