Malos wasn't even a villain, he was just an antagonist.
Amalthus was the villain

No he's literally just "I am evil because I am evil muahahaha"

Shit thread.

Yes
He had a genuinely interesting backstory, a fun personality and well developed relationships with both the protagonists and other villains
That's a good way of putting it
dumb

>Malos
>Villain
No he wasn't
>was Malos a good Character
Hoo boy yes

He was evil because the people who bond with a blade imprint bits of their personality onto them.

The first person Malos bonded with was a spiteful man who saw humanity's struggle to persevere as futile, and believed that their God had abandoned them after his venture into the heavens failed to illicit any response from him.

Couple that with Malos essentially being a Christ-like figure with unimaginable power, and we wound up with a a villain who felt that if his apathetic father couldn't be bothered to save his people as they slowly died, that he should just destroy them first and get it over with.

Post it

Absolutely.

Blades take on the personality of whoever woke them up. It's so the blades dont have a massive conflict of interest and betray every driver.
But Amalthus was SO EVIL that betrayal and dominance became part of Malos's programming.

More than that, Malos was evil because he truly believed destruction/death was what the world wished for, not only from Amalthus' imprint but from parsing the data accumulated by his core as a Master Blade.

Basically, Logos core data + Amalthus impulse = Malos, living embodiment of mankind's age-old self-destruction intents and self-hatred, Pneuma core data + Addam impulse = Mythra, living embodiment of mankind's age-old self-preservation intents and desire for salvation.

I hope Malos becomes the final party member in Xenoblade 3, adding a Monado user to the party.

based

He wasn't a good boy. He was the best boy.

Yes, best part of the game.

Yes

>not only from Amalthus' imprint but from parsing the data accumulated by his core as a Master Blade.
Why do you figure that? Klaus's explanation and Malos's profile from the artbook just say it was Amalthus, nothing about it coming from his core.

He was honestly the worst character in Xenoblade 2. He's just generic bad guy, born bad and died bad. His motif is literally "I hate you all and I'm better so I'll kill you all" and just because his driver is evil too. No twist, no interesting background, just a one-dimensional villain with a forced, out-of-character redemption moment during death.

Even that edgy fucker of Jin is miles better than him.

>with a forced, out-of-character redemption moment during death.
If you think any of that was out of character, you weren't paying much attention at all.

>a forced, out-of-character redemption moment during death.
You're saying the guy who felt his existence was trapped because he knew the most about the Blade system learning that there was actually a way out at the very end was forced?

Yeah no, fuck that. Pulling out the stupid trope of "realizing he was the bad guy all along and regretting his actions only at death" makes zero fucking sense, considering he was literally programmed to be evil just like Amalthus.

Imagine being this illiterate.

>realizing he was the bad guy all along and regretting his actions only at death
Dumbass.

He's an entertaining villain, that's for sure. Also he was right.

No seas engreído, pequeña mierda!

Attached: 19843873.png (1024x576, 965K)

He realized he was the bad guy when he met Jin. The whole point that differentiates Malos from Amalthus is that Malos had people he bonded with that let him see other sides of himself and the world. And that difference in perspective let him realized how much of a piece of shit he was and drove him into self-aware self-hatred

the final battle with him in torna was kino so yes

I didn't know I wanted this combo.

Malos did.
They were his dying words.

Well, he partially did. He wanted to meet Rex earlier, but he laughed off the whole Driver thing.

Meeting Rex earlier implies they wouldn't have settled it earlier without either dying.
Rex technically isn't Mythra's driver until the end credits sequence, either.

>Meeting Rex earlier implies they wouldn't have settled it earlier without either dying.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to say here, but I don't see how what Malos says implies that. He says "If only I had met you sooner, just think of the worlds I might've seen" - to me, that means he thinks if he had met Rex earlier, his point might've gotten through without either of them dying. There'd be no reason for him to include the bit about 'seeing other worlds' if he just thought that it'd end up in the same conclusion.
And I dunno what Mythra has to do with any of that, but Rex is definitely her Driver before the credits sequence. He becomes Pyra and Mythra's Driver way back in the beginning when he touches their core crystal. The resonation at the end when he reawakens them is more 'traditional' since they're in a core state then, but it doesn't really mean that the first one wasn't just as valid.

>Basically, Logos core data + Amalthus impulse = Malos, living embodiment of mankind's age-old self-destruction intents and self-hatred, Pneuma core data + Addam impulse = Mythra, living embodiment of mankind's age-old self-preservation intents and desire for salvation.

I love this explanation, it's actually beautiful pottery

Attached: 1560312834458.png (581x768, 417K)

"If only I had met you sooner, just think of the worlds I might've seen" pretty obviously says he would have gone with him.

He was a good antagonist, he's too multi-faceted to say he's a straight-up villain.

>Blades take on the personality of whoever woke them up
Are you telling me Addam is a slut and that's why Mythra is the way she is?

malos means the bad ones in spanish

Dunno who that is but he's handsome

Attached: 1561947760510.jpg (255x244, 15K)

Sure, but his reaction to Rex's response and "there was only one Driver for me" explicitly shows that Rex's interpretation wasn't what he wanted.

why the fuck were him and Jin not obtainable in NG+

He's a very attractive murderous sword-computer-man.
Because Monolith Soft are sadists.

Did they just design that guy after Guts?

I guess everyone is gay once in a while damn

malos's and jin designs look like nomura just drew bootleg weaboo guts and griffith and called it a day

I'm going to be mad about this until the day I die.
At least Jin was in Torna.

I don't give a shit. I played the game for the combat, music and exploration. Didn't really pay attention to the cutscenes. Best JRPG in the past 5 years by a long shot.

but if you played it for the music, you missed out on a fairly decent portion of that if you weren't paying attention to cutscenes at all

>Malos
>"mal" literally means "bad"

WOOOOAAAAHHH...

No, he was an amazing villain.

next you'll tell me that they literally named the girl with the fire powers fire and the girl with the light powers light

I fucking love After Hope and Despair. Xeno always has the best final battle tunes

>hikari is a light blade
>homura is a fire blade
>nya is a cat blade

>byakko is a white tiger blade
>genbu is a big turtle titan
>seiryu is a dragon titan
>suzaku is a masculine bird blade that also has tits for some reason

Malos is cute!

Attached: 1523493566912.jpg (1200x600, 464K)

It's pretty obvious the point was more like wishing his first driver was someone like Rex. Maybe a stretch to meeting Rex before his group had finally decided on their end game plan, but that still seems like it was set in stone when he was first awakened, so kind of moot.

Malos is the reliable big bro with a heart of gold we all want

Attached: Blade High.jpg (800x1136, 190K)

Absolutely not. I thought he was a dumb boring side character.
Then he kept turning up
again
and again
never getting remotely interesting

After finishing 2, I went back to 1, and Jesus, the jump in quality. It's quite sad

>It's pretty obvious the point was more like wishing his first driver was someone like Rex. Maybe a stretch to meeting Rex before his group had finally decided on their end game plan, but that still seems like it was set in stone when he was first awakened, so kind of moot.
See, I'm pretty sure the point IS that Malos is finally acknowledging that it wasn't entirely set in stone. He's acquiescing to the point Rex has been trying to make for the entire final boss fight - that his 'role' wasn't something he was locked in to, and he did have a choice in it.

Doesn't stop him from canonically being an aniki, user.

has that dude released his nia analysis yet?

he's the bro that didn't run away to the big city with dad

He's doing a Nia one? This should be a really interesting one, actually. How do we "follow" him?

He was an okay antagonist.
Amalthus was a shitty villain.

I think Amalthus has some interesting characterization on paper, but the way the game presents him is pretty awful.

Malos fucking deserved better, I hope he cameos in future games and gets to hang out with his whole family

Malos as a Shulk echo when?

His whole motivation literally only exist because he copied a furry bastard's hatred for humanity when he was activated. By far the dumbest villain ever.

It's disappointing to see people still missing the point this hard.
