I feel like HM64 is a comfier game but ToT is a better game. I like HM64 for its graphics and the overall feeling but I find it hard to keep playing/find stuff to do. On the other hand, trio has a big cast of fun characters with interesting personalities and a lot of shit to do. When I replay HM64 the only real difference I notice is which bachelorette I go for. I've replayed trio once now and I changed the way I went about the game completely. That variety might not be appealing to you though, I understand liking the more focused games.

That's fair. Hearing the bckground noise of crickets at night completely dissapear as the sun comes up has always stuck out in my mind as extremely beautiful and eerie, & none of the other games reached that level of personal atmosphere for me. It's the little touches.

Doubt it. The characters are being redesigned to better match the new personalities and roles they were given in Back to Nature and Friends of Mineral Town, and Elli's design in general still works. It'll be in the new style, but I expect a similar design.

I played BTN for years and then gave 64 a go and just couldn't get in to it, not only are the days too fast, but Rick and Popuri aren't related and all their jobs and personalities are different and it was a complete head fuck. I know the 64 one is considered the 'official' version of those characters but ugh..

Not at all. In games where the characters make cameos, it's most often their Back to Nature/Friends of Mineral Town versions.
Early Harvest Moon wasn't a stranger to taking the same characters and shuffling their roles and personalities. They're all "official."

There's also two new player characters, too.

Magical Melody was actually pretty good. Fairly buggy at points and gay art style but still a really solid HM game

The impression of Wonderful Life I get is it being kinda a short game, in contrast to DS that had to much going for it and getting shit done took forever, Wodnerful Life seems like a kinda short game, so I'd rather they go for the remake of a game that's eyes were to big for it's stomach and try a second time to see if they get it right, although I guess they could just keep the story of mineral town/wonderful life and go for the scope of DS, but no witch princess kills me

Everyone overlooks Sunshine Islands for the DS.
You might think it's some gimmicky version of the game, because it takes place on an island. But it's actually one of the more grounded HM games in the series. Just very mechanically sound and full featured. Addicting progression.
It continues the 64, FoMT, MM line of gameplay.

Komari is great and all but my vote goes to Kasumi because she's the real bee's knees.
True character development and dialogue so sweet that your body uses all the insulin storage it has awaits you if you pursue Kasumi.
Every new flower event and daily dialogue is a treat.
If the thought of this stern teacher, who is older than your player character, falling head over heels for you and continuously spilling her spaghetti doesn't sound appealing then I don't know what to say.
