These fuckers. A good d-pad is being treated like a carrot on a stick now.

Nintendo knows that their fanbase will do anything they say and always come back to them no matter what. They're like domestic abuse victims.
More disappointed they didn't use Wii U-like analog sticks. They were overshadowed by the system's general reception but goddamn they were excellent
That's why the pro controller exists
Joycons can't have the dpad or it would defeat the purpose of their existence
Isn’t there already a legend of Zelda joy con set that has that d-pad?
The dpad on the pro controller is its only flaw.
I have a feeling this dpad will suffer the same issues as the pro dpad.
What’s wrong with the pro d-pad? I like it
was
Been fixed for over a year now, may as well say DS4 sticks still fall off after two months
The switch unfortunately has to be low profile to be more portable
The gamepad was more ergonomic than it had any right to be
the only reason joycons should've existed is so they could shit out a bunch of custom ones for convenience and taste
that Nintendo instead treats them only as a multiplayer gimmick for dumbfucks is the worst
This isn't portable. The analog sticks should be circular pads. I know those suck but they are portable.
The colors make it look like a child's toy.
It's 199.99 dollars
It's barely fucking smaller. It's smaller by about half an inch overall.
What the fuck is the point of this
The bumps aren't that bad if you're putting it in a carrying case or backpack
Dual circle pads are not a good control method. The 3DS attachment was only good because some games basically required it
Kids. Gotta sell more Pokémon copies.
Yeah but it can only be used in portable mode.
You can't use it unless you have it attached to the Switch.
projection be like
I dont know I think the joycon "dpad" is fine, it has zero misinputs
Are buttons not better? Is it not the exact same thing except you aren't restricted by what other buttons are pressed? I don't dislike dpads but it just seems objectively worse.
I actually find the joycon "dpad" pretty good for puzzle games and platformers. Haven't tried a fighter but I imagine that would be pretty bad.
I sure hope they went with more robust joysticks.
>Nintendo instead treats them only as a multiplayer gimmick
user that's literally what they were designed for
>give joycons garbage dpad
>give procon garbage dpad
>give Switch Lite an actual functioning D-Pad as the central selling point
How the fuck can you defend this?
bait
bait
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIITTTTTTTTT
Even the spec sheets brag about this.
Let's be honest here. It's fucking scummy considering there are joycons with dpads made by third parties.
No, the dpad can still have the issue. The amount it's noticeable varies from controller to controller.
You can't smoothly transition from one direction to another with the joycon buttons
Especially for 2D games it is a lot better to use the pro controller's dpad rather than the stick. Joycons get a half point because their sticks are small enough to be a comfortable as a substitute, but not ideal.
It's for poorfags like me
That's how, I guess. You just devolve into thumbsucking Downie mode.
it looks the same
>Gorilla Glass
Fucking RIP if you drop it at an angle
>portable only
>no auto brightness
Because the joycons can be used as an impromptu controllers for 2 players. How the hell are you going to use a d-pad as buttons?
>What is the Switch Pro controller
Were you born yesterday user?
It's like the 2DS how it was the 3DS with less features and made with cheaper material for poor people.
As far as I know, the 2DS did pretty well considering it was a budget handheld so I'm guessing this is the successor to the 2DS.
Why are you posting that old mockup?
>only works in portable mode
everything was made so you'd need to rebuy one at the smallest inconvenience
I haven't used a d-pad to play a 2D game in like 12 years and I'm not about to start caring now
This. This thing is aimed at kids and people that just want to play Pokemon and/or Animal Crossing, same market as the 2DS.
IT'S OK IF NINTENDO HIDES A PROPER D PAD BEHIND 200 DOLLARS, AUTO BRIGHTNESS ISNT NECESSARY EITHER, STOP BEING ENTITLED AND PREORDER SWORD AND SHIELD
idk why but this image made me laugh hard as f uck
With how shit the joycon analog sticks are drifting every fucking where, them being stuck to this shit is nothing but a downgrade.
>Kids
>People who only want a handheld
>People who only care about a few Switch games
>More casual players
>Poor people
Why is Yea Forums so low IQ?
amazon.com
They cost like $30 and take a few minutes to install if you do it right, or an hour if you're a fat fingered fuck like me that can't grip small springs.
It's low empathy (aka an actual symptom of literal autism), not low IQ.
just use the analog stick. what do you need a dpad for?
see
>so does the switch lite
this might actually make get a switch but the games are still overpriced
It's likely just the pro Dpad
what was the dpad issue with that controller
Why is this a surprise? The switch dpad is the way it is so it can be used as buttons for single-joycon games.
The thing you actually SHOULD be mad about is that the lite doesn't even have an option for TV-out
>Why is this a surprise? The switch dpad is the way it is so it can be used as buttons for single-joycon games.
>Nobody out there wants a dpad so they can play games that are not single joycon games
>What are options
Watch the dpad on this be just as bad as the pro controller's
You can't pay $50 extra for the the dockable mode which is way higher quality?
