I actually like that Knuckles. He's still generally round, so I can see him rolling in to a ball, just bigger. A lot of focus is given to his arms and hand, but in a way that creates a curve around the top of his body. He's rougher than the rest of him, and that's really pushed here.

San Andreas was the best portrayal of black people in vidya because it never used them as woke symbols or mouth pieces. They were just people, living normal lives in the wacky world of GTA. Never once did it feel like they were doing some retarded racial stereotype, even when the first mission is you stealing a bike or getting into a turf war. Every "racist" action you take throughout the game feels like something reasonable you could see CJ (or even the other characters) doing due to the situation they were currently in, which makes them infinitely more sympathetic and interesting than any of the "woke" characters from the past decade. Turns out portraying a black guy stealing a bike because he has to get back home after getting robbed by some cops makes them way more sympathetic and understandable than making them a fat nerd that is "subverting stereotypes".

This. They were also never forced to be "book smart" just street smart, which made them seem a lot more like people trying to survive in a cruel and harsh world. I found CJ to be the most interesting protagonist in GTA because of this (unlike Tommy who just wanted to be rich and Claude who was just a psychopath), with Niko coming to a close second. Nerd characters are annoying regardless of race and it takes a good writer to figure out how to write a nerd character that isn't just an annoying piece of shit that ruins the story's tone.
