It's a downgrade
It's a downgrade
no shit
Why does it look like a cheaper chinkier version of PS Vita?
>nintendo creates an iteration of their current hardware
>drop all the gimmicks that made that hardware unique
lol, when will nintnedo learn that their "innovations" are fucking useless?
>literally has lite in the title
>WOW WHAT A DOWNGRADE
You guys can’t be serious
No shit nigger it's literally called LITE. When someone asks you if you want a LITE snack do you stuff your face like the fat moron you are thinking it had more calories? You dumb cunt.
is the screen glass or plastic?
So don't buy it.
>Nintendo
>glass
pick 1
$200 for some fischer-price shit olam
It's also a down-price
The upgrade is coming next year to release alongside BOTW2
I just hate how non-premium it looks. Even the psp looked nicer
Who would ever want a snack like that? Minimum 8 tendies or I'm still angry.
>fully handheld
an upgrade for me
It's a bubble
I donut like the colors.
So it's a full mobile Switch, which means no TV format support, everything runs at the lower graphic fidelity settings, and it's still made of cheap plastic with that shitty screen that scratches just by putting the thing in your pocket?
Nah. I would happily have bought a better quality Switch 2.0 if it meant it would be made of better material with a glass screen and fabric-lined dock.
Only Nintendo (and probably Apple) can make business decisions this fucking atrocious and still not only stay afloat, but generate a profit. If you make a cult the product sells itself.
So I assume this is their path forward from the 3DS. A fully mobile Switch with reduced resolution and graphics.
REDUCED GRAPHICS
Well, assuming this is the Switch without the dock + tv connectiveity, it's safe to assume the Switch Lite would run at the same settings as the regular Switch in handheld mode.
So yes. Reduced graphics.
>food analogies
ds lite was superior to og ds
>Only Nintendo (and probably Apple) can make business decisions this fucking atrocious and still not only stay afloat, but generate a profit. If you make a cult the product sells itself.
Wrong. I will buy Lite because I'm never going to play split-screen games with friends (I'm over 30) and not interested in paying $300 to play four or five Nintendo games. This was made for me. Nintendo obviously looked at the stats and realized at least 30% of people play in portable mode.
A $200 Switch locked to portable mode? Might actually get myself one of these. Only thing keeping me on the fence with the Switch was the price tag. There's not as many games as I'd hoped for the Switch that would justify me buying one, but at $100 less, might actually consider one of these. Just wish it came in red or black.
don't forget the nintendo tax on the games
Wow are you telling me the $100 cheaper version is a downgrade? How can this be possible?
Found the shill
>Nintendo tax
So we're coming into threads and spreading bullshit now, is that it?
Cope. The Vita looks like a mid 2000s handheld.
Are the joycons still detachable and able to use motion controls and the hd rumble?
If not then this shit better be in the below $200 range
Fatty DS was the best
Seethe. Is that supposed to be a bad thing?
>GIMMICKS BAD FUCK NINTENDO MAKE REAL CONSOLE >:(
>WTF NINTENDO WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GIMMICKS?
Cringe
>there're people who definitely going to waste money on downgrade model knowing that upgrade model is coming
Listen you dumb cunts, you avoided the 2DS, you can avoid this too. The only person who is negatively affected by this is that one kid who gets it for Christmas when they wanted a regular Switch.
Why wouldn't they have tv connectivity? I'd get this one if it did.
they're technically detachable but then they won't work anymore
no no and no.
also its 200.
I wouldn't put it past someone out there to try modding T.V output back into this "lite" version to see if it actually works or Nintendo dummy'd it out completely
>I-It's a good thing the Vita looks outdated! P-Please give us a Vita 2 Censony!!!
LMAO
>tfw homebrew reinstalls TV mode
unless the Switch needed a physical chip to output video I don't see why it can't be done.
Good. I miss the 2000s when glass was in.
Yeah, they must have made a deal with the devil himself to succeed while not doing what you, an arrogant dipshit on fucking Yea Forums, would do.
>Switch Lite
>can't switch
>shill
I waited 4 years to get a PS4. I waited 2 to get a 3DS. I'm simply wary of throwing my cash around, especially with technology. I always wait for the second round of hardware to come out before I even think of dumping 3-400 dollars on shit. A Switch Lite, releasing almost 3 years after the Switch came out, with undoubtedly improved design specs for $100 less than the standard Switch is right up my alley for me.
But sure. Call me a shill because I'm cheap and don't like wasting my money on frivolous shit, and voiced how opportune something such as this is for myself.
ok
The $100 cheaper version of a console released 2 years ago with hardware even older than that.
So, this is obviously a hoax.
There aren’t 20 months in a year
When graphics/powerfags get an inch they will shitpost enough to circumnavigate the Earth.
same but fuck windows vista
Different guy, but I think that user was saying something like "if you are gonna go the gimmick route, at least commit to it."
Not defending the switch lite but the Vita is a piece of garbage with quite literally not one game worth playing
You don't say, faggot? It's a cheaper portable version of a home console.
If there's no chipset in place in the circuitry to allow HDMI connectiveity, then it's not possible. Nobody is going to go through the trouble of applying an entire separate circuitboard piece onto it just to connect to a TV. If anything, they'll apply a wireless hack that streams to your TV via bluetooth or wifi.
Doesn't need modding, just a non-proprietary USB-C to HDMI cable to test. Unless you mean a softmod since the OS will prevent it too, just like how N3DS games can't be launched on older models.
still a downgrade faggot
>has ''lite'' in the name
>''it's a downgrade''
Fuck, I was holding my purchase for the upgraded version announcement and we get this. god fucking damnit, nintendo
>Nintendo makes a cheaper, handheld alternative to the switch
>LMAO ITS A DOWNGRADE NINTENDIES BTFO
It's supposed to be a downgrade you dipshits, it's for those who could give a dog's ass about Playing it docked, or those who don't want to drop $400 to play Switch games.
You guys wanted a handheld Switch with a proper Dpad and got one, what the fuck is the problem?
>wasting money
it'll be a collector's item
It's for little kids. You don't have to buy it.
>tfw some fucking faggot decided to lock my cpu so that I can't install w7
w10 feels retard proof, but I'm not a retard so it bothers me
the fact that someone who has had "hands-on" time with this thing and described it as feeling similar to the 2ds XL makes me very concerned. now I like my 2ds xl, but it feels incredibly cheap, the plastic bends with almost no effort
eeeehhhhhh
I guess I should have expected as much
>It's a downgrade
youve got some good reading comprehension there.
this. thank you for not being a brainlet.
t. dumb americunt
learn to date you fat fuck
People have been saying that this is good because its an affordable option for those that wanted a Switch, but this version of the console removes the reason why I ever wanted a Switch in the first place
which was?
I had one of these. Not by choice, but out of necessity due to going through 2 OG PS2s that would stop reading discs over time. Hell, some games wouldn't even work on OG PS2s. You pretty much had to buy the newer models.
Either way, they ran decently. I never noticed much difference between the two. Especially during a time when 22-30fps was the standard.
It can't connect to the TV, so I can't play Smash with my siblings. It's the one thing they should've left in, imo.
I wonder if you can even connect controllers to it anymore, given the fact the joycons are baked in I would think not.
I'm getting a normal Switch then.
not with the dim display
Why are people complaining about this? It's not like Nintendo is trying to get you to drop an extra $200 on a Switch Lite if you also own a Switch. It's a nice alternative for parents that want a car toy for their kids.
This item is clearly for people who are just casual gamers that want to play just Zelda or Mario. It's not meant for anyone who already owns a standard switch or plans on getting one. It solves the problem of wanting to play a select few games on a console and not wanting to spend too much money on the console itself
Really one could be snarky and make that argument for gaming or hell, entertainment in general. I mean, this is 2/3 the price, has built in Joycon (so no stanky wobble), and hopefully has better build quality compared to the Joycons. Also longer battery life, and over all smaller.
I don't mind it. Although, the idea to not make it dock able is just straight up Nintendo. But who knows, maybe they'll go for a standard USB-C port this time.
To choose between playing on my tv or handheld.
Is this a genuine leak?
People just want something to complain about
I'm pretty sure that was a joke, user. I know you want to appear rude for Yea Forums points, but you can calm down every now and then.
i think those people still want to play on their TV though
Okay, but the general consensus is that people hate Ninconsoles because they put gimmicks over the hardware. Now Nintendo made a console which focuses on a single concept and improving battery life (supposedly) and people sperg because it can't switch. What incentive will people have to buy the regular Switch after these come out? If they didn't exclusively "switch" then nobody would buy them, everyone would just buy the cheaper, less power hungry models and purchase a used/third-party dock to save money.
The ability to play games on a non shitty screen
>is this announcement posted on nintendo's official websites a leak?
no
Then they should buy a standard switch if they care about seeing their games on a tv so much
Why is is called Switch Lite?
You could install Windows 7 on any system, if you really wanted to, and knew what you were doing. Just because it's not officially supported doesn't mean it won't work.
That being said: Windows 7 support is ending in January 2020. Better stay on W10 so you don't catch a virus, retard.
What? So this is a full announcement today? Ok
Standard Switch is over priced
Because it is lmao
cause the vita 1000s looked like a proper fucking nicely designed handheld, the 2000's started heading in the fisher price direction but the 1000s were really nice looking.
I hope Nintendo makes an upgrade for the Nintendo Switch.
I only want to play my games on the TV, I'm not a loser.
Finally! Now I have a reason to get the Switch, fuck the console, I'm getting a Switch Lite, I can't wait for Metroid 5's announcement. 3DS is finally dead.
>mfw just bought an old CRT TV in anticipation of buying a switch for chrismas
Well there goes that plan,at least I can still play that new CTR remake that came out on this lite version right?
Then buy a switch lite or try to find a used standard switch
Yeah check the youtube
>Literally marketed as a budget version of the Switch
>WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW WHAT A DOWNGRADE!
What were you expecting it to be, OP?
>not wanting to bing bing wahoo on the bus
>crt
>for something that only outputs hdmi
>worrying about a virus
Who's the retard again?
Switch pro
Every time a nintendie mentions portability I always think of my college roommate who always brought his ds to the bathroom.
Because it’s a cheaper downgrade to the pre existing switch. It’s “light” so it takes away a lot of the prominent features.
You for not understanding sarcasm.
>has lite in the title so it's immune from criticism
fuck of
>switch already sold 35m in just 2 years
>lite and pro versions coming out to appeal the handheldfags and graphicsfags
Nintendo is going to cheat their way to 100m+ sales with Switch. They just have to release a new Pokemon game on Lite and it will sell 50m units.
They already got my sale with the Lite version.
I dont fucking want a handheld that can plug into a TV, I dont even use a TV anymore.
What is the criticism? That it does what it's supposed to do?
He was probably jacking off to his JRPG waifu.
I know people who have only ever played their Switch in portable mode. They've never used the dock. They've never played it on a TV.
Me, I've almost never played my Switch in portable mode. I always play it on my TV. I only play it in Portable mode if I travel and I don't travel very often.
Point is, I think there's a market for this. It's $100 cheaper, and a LOT of people simply won't miss the ability to plug it into a TV.
I have no doubt that Nintendo will make money with this.
I, like many others, do wish they'd release a VIP Switch model with a glass screen, better dock, etc. I think people would pay extra for all that stuff.
If you go to their website, that's their plan. Fucking genius and all before Metroid 5's announcement, god damn Nintendo is killing it.
Which is why it starts at $199, you retarded faggot
Thanks for beta testing, bitches.
How is that sarcasm?
Will the 3ds get a price drop again since the switch is now the same price as a new 3ds XL?
Who would even buy a New 2ds XL when a switch is just $50 more?
Well I do think he was playing fire emblem at the time...
Of what?
Then buy it used.
>2ds
>80 dollars
Why are they still shilling it? Do people even buy it to this day?
When can I get the reverse of this? the switch that stays plugged in and cant go mobile?
i was planning to buy a switch recently but i guess waiting for this one isnt worth it considering what im reading...
Don't tell me what to do bitch
Next year in time for BotW 2
So are we all just going to pretend nintendo didn't say they wouldn't make another version of that console?
It's called NVIDIA Shield and it's way cheaper.
It's really good specifically for kids whose parents won't let them play games on the TV.
Inceneroar is still locked to Sun/Moon
fpbp
>people will actually defend Nintendo when they remove features to keep their profit margins the same on ancient hardware that shouldn't even cost 150
Yea Forums threw a hissy fit when the 2ds was announced
What Nintendo handhelds had plastic screens after the GBC?
It is, but it will sell - if they don't fuck up the pricing - , and that's all that counts for Nintendo.
Nintendo now has a unified platform for mobile and home gaming.
That's something you should not underestimate.
I have a "normal" Switch, and it's dreadful to use as a handheld. I can see that being nice.
Game boi advanced
Also
>lite
>it's a lighter version the switch
GASP no way
Not the guy you are replying to, but there is no fucking way the original GBA was glass.
Yea Forums is a heavily nintendo biased board
who knew.
THAT.
IS.
THE.
POINT.
That's essentially like saying
>/pol/ is a heavily Marxist biased board
>who knew
Don't listen to this person actually, while its fine for other consoles, the switch is probably the worst thing to buy used because of the joycon drifting.
Only do this if you are willing to either buy your own joycons (don't do that) or if you're always going to use another controller and have it docked
You're right, I remember the SP specifically having a glass screen, I think select DS models did too.
I mean if it goes for a standard C it could still cast to the tv via HDMI adapter right?
I hope you got paid an extra bonus for making this comment in such an embarrassing manner
>those colors
>that bezel
they just had to make a psvita with games, i can't believe they fucked up something so simple
I know Yea Forums has generally bad taste but holy FUCK thats some bad taste
>new 2ds xl
wtf, since when is that a thing?
It's a kid's version of the system, you absolute retard, of course it's been simplified.
That's called Shield TV. I've got the Shield tablet which is mobile and can be plugged to a tv for a console like experience.
you really shouldn't buy any nintendo console used until the next generation comes out. Buying a used switch retail is like not even 20% cheaper and trying to buy one second hand, in good condition, for a reasonable price, off a person is damn well near impossible without some luck.
Getting consoles at the end of their life cycle/start of next gen is best anyway. You have the most updated games and biggest library.
>wtf, since when is that a thing?
7/28/17 was 2 years ago.
That's literally what it is, the fuck does the color have to do with anything?
To be fair the DS Lite was a major step up from the original, not in power but it removed the bulk, gave backlit screens, a stylus you couldn't possibly lose, etc.
The SP did not have a glass screen and neither did the DS's
Nintendo has never released a handheld with a glass screen
all the 3 colors are gay and/or childish
People bought it in fucking droves because it was so cheap and Nintendo put it in bundles with mario and zelda. Pirates too since 2DS is essentially the same method in hacking it and you suffer nothing from choosing it other than Monster Hunter
>literally gray
>gay and/or childish
Did you fall on your head as a kid or something?
Literally all of them have plastic screens
it's literally "chinese plastic gray", looks really awful
why couldn't nintendo just release a proper home console with competitive hardware and then a lite portable console alongside it? oh right, it's because they're cheap lazy fucks who rely on established brands and their fanbases to excuse releasing outdated hardware
they tried to dabble in both the home and portable console markets but are shit at both
Retard.
Everyone in this thread should be compensated for having to read your retarded posts tbη.
I was thinking less people would damage their Switch using unsupported USB-C accessories.
Heavy doubt regarding docking. Bintendo has a business incentive to go out of their way to block docking capability. Which sucks, I personally don't mind the 540p visuals of handheld mode, or whatever, it would still be appreciated.
Even the price is downgraded. Your mind blown yet?
>want to sell my PSTV for money to put towards this
>dont have any experience selling something retailers wont buy off of me
Why live
Is the Switch Pro confirmed or not? I'm interested in a Switch but I want to hold out if they plan on a stronger version.
