What went wrong?

it feels like a third of a complete game

its shit but i still liked it. ive played through it a few times.
this is definitely my biggest gripe. doesn't feel like a proper working system the way games like red dead and gta do. the ai needed to be better. for the most part though if you're decent at stealth its a fun time. my least favorite part was the area at the end, i dont think i even finished the game last time i played. prague is a fun to explore place though. more time would've really helped i think

A decent game that jumps locations too much and ends way too quickly. They should've focused their efforts to make the whole game take place in a large city hub that's interconnected instead of small story focused locations but that's ky opinion.

You can emulate some of the Ghost in the Shell games, but they were never that spectacular.

Neo Tokyo is dead, which sucks because that was fun.

Other than that, Shadowrun is okay. But the fantasy stuff takes away from the cyberpunk vibe, personally

Can someone explain why Golem City was such a fucking dump? It's full of people with augs that make life easier and make them more effective, so why do they act like n******s once they get there? If they behaved and actually helped build their new home it would be 100x better than any other city because it's literally full of superheroes.

I hated hand. Honestly, the Kara sections were my favorites, though Connor is the superior character. Markus is just bad.

Criminal Past DLC is good but the other two were really short and felt more like side missions in the main game than actual stand-alone stories.

I'd say it fulfills the criteria to be considered cyberpunk. It's got some heavy Blade Runner vibes with the whole ecological disaster, robotic animals and android cop hunting other androids thing.

I feel like that world would be dystopian and fit the cyberpunk genre perfectly 10-20 years after the ingame events. The world is just about to go down the shitter and change heavily.

No really, he shouldn't have been the protagonist. His story ended with HR. Bringing him back as the MC cheapens the Deus Ex universe.

The bio terrorist attack at the start of IW was super interesting because it wasn't conventional. The shrouded figure gave it some angle of intrigue, it let on that there was a connection to a fanatic group without ever explicitly stating it. You see a sort of film or something spread out over this hooded person, it starts to spread out to the streets, up buildings, then they turn into ash. Its a really interesting little cinematic. It gives you something to think about, a mystery right off the bat, you want to learn who this group is, what their ideology is.

The bombing in MK is just boring. Boo hoo Augs being oppressed. An airport gets bombed, something that has happened IRL, even in recent history, more than a couple times. You know immediately from the first game that this shit is always a false flag controlled OP. The character in vane trying to attribute responsibility to the perpetrator doesn't hook you in the way IQ does.

Well to me, the biggest failing of MD is trying to set the augmented up as victims while completely ignoring the Aug Incident. It was bad, millions of people died. You were just going about your business and suddenly some Aug runs up to you and rips the skin off your face and gives you a new asshole with his metal fists.
So yeah, people are wary of augs and they have a right to be. The Aug Incident could very well happen again, at any time. And the millions who were traumatized by the events have every right to fear or even hate the augmented people. I'm not saying it's deserved hate or fear, but it's understandable.

Personally it felt sanitised. I didn't expect something as "redpilled" as the original or even as nuanced as HR, but turning the complex morality at the heart of Deus Ex into "racism bad" just feels like dumbing it down for contemporary audiences

Overall the game played fine but they made a lot of own goal missteps.

Smear campaign. All of the complaints are completely overblown. Game length is on par with HR, mechanics are universally better, so are visuals but there's some square enix patented nickel and diming and an relatively uninspired story. 9/10 it's shit, am I a game critic naow?

I feel like the system of Augs in Human Revolution wasn't well articulated enough to be believable. How do you go from only amputees utilizing prosthetic devices to normal people cutting their arms off to have super unaesthetic robo arms? The time scale for this taking place was really bad too. Its like it all happened totally overnight and we're just supposed to accept it.

I like Adam, I just feel like he didn't fit in MD as well as he did in HR. I think we need a new MC to help bridge the gap between The newer and older games. Let Jensen just retire or something, he's had a hard life.
