People are already tearing their docks apart and are making small portable docks. Why the fuck is Nintendo not making a small dock for the Switch Lite and sell it separately with a pair of Joy Cons? Is Nintendo retarded? Do they not want to make more money?
>b-but the Lite is gonna overheat! What's stopping Nintendo to add a little cheap ass fan to it that blows air on the backside? It would still work for the regular Switch as well.
>but that's the point of the Lite! To be handheld only! What's the point of a Switch if it can't "Switch"? The 2DS was at least still a full functioning 3DS without the 3D option that nobody used anyway. Who the heck bought a 3DS for the 3D option? Nobody.
Because they had to cut corners to set the price tag to $200. Why are you people so retarded that you can't understand this?
Tyler Jenkins
I bought a 3DS for the 3D I still use it, best 3D I've ever had, better than the stuff at the movies
Colton Gonzalez
But it still has the USB-C port and the tegra chip. That's all that it needs to do HDMI out and USB in.
Nolan Jackson
In very few games was the 3D actually adding to the experience and not a gimmick. 3D Land comes to mind. Meanwhile games like Pokémon had no 3D at all outside battles, where 3D absolutely tanked the framerate. Switch's portability, in contrast, is a utility and not a gimmick.
Colton Cook
It doesn't have the docked power profile. Even if you did manage to hook it up to a TV you'd just be getting handheld mode performance on a bigger screen.
Colton Jackson
3D added a lot in my experience, even in turn based games. Pokemon is by far the shittiest example of it because the game chugs like a motherfucker with it on there and to be honest Pokemon is fucking garbage on the 3DS anyway so I didn't really care about that, it was the only game I didn't use it in because of the lag. I loved it in ACNL, Kirby, TLoL, Ever Oasis, FE Echoes, and all the Etrian Odyssey games on the thing.
Asher James
This. People are RETARDED. God, why am I the only person that is smart in the entire fucking world? WHY?
Nathan Smith
A power profile is a just a few lines of code. You're not helping your point.
Blake Powell
lmao underage
Jordan Cook
Thermals are an actual consideration as the Switch heatpipes are a source of most of the weight of the system. The main weight loss might've come from cut down cooling which necessitated the cut of TV mode. The Switch runs extremely hot docked sometimes.
Nicholas Peterson
And a cooling system. Docked power profile would make this thing burst into flames.
Owen Sullivan
okay, thats fine
Wyatt Price
lol zoomerfag
Daniel Gutierrez
Why are you acting like it isn't using a more efficient chip that can handle passive cooling?
Easton Wood
Because it’s a business decision, not a logical choice. If you want docking capability, they want you to drop the extra $$$ for the Switch regular
Cameron Bailey
So they can direct people to the more expensive Switch.
Henry Butler
Because supporting HDMI on the switch lite costs money and they cut the price by 100 dollars.
Evan Phillips
I think it has more to do with piracy protection honestly. I think a lot of people would upgrade in order to hack their old switches while keeping online play otherwise.
Zachary Martinez
What makes you think it is?
Hudson Kelly
docked mode adds $100 to the price tag
not even kidding. what they're doing is perfectly logical from a business standpoint, if you wanna dock pay $100 more for the standard version, they're the same damn thing anyway
you're all retarded if you think they're releasing better hardware for less and essentially deprecating the $300 sku this early
Ayden Brooks
There isn't any architecture difference, honestly removing docked mode is probably more expensive than keeping it in at this point.
William Sanchez
it's probably just a few lines of code in the kernel or the usb-c drivers, they probably tried it in development and it started frying the thing
i'd be surprised if homebrew doesn't add docking back
Asher Stewart
You would need to spend $100 just to have the switch lite do the things the standard version does. Nintendo is effectively admitting that joycons are a fucking gimmick and people only care about portable mode.
Mason Harris
>Nintendo is effectively admitting that joycons are a fucking gimmick and people only care about portable mode. nah everyone i know that has a switch only uses it portable in plane rides and shit, me included
they're only admitting that if you want to split the joycons with a friend or play on the big screen, you need to pay $100 more. that's it
Switch Lite is obviously designed to be used in undocked mode only, meaning it doesn't have the power capability to output to a TV in any quality but its standardized resolution. It would look like shit even if it were dockable.
Brayden Jones
people who are talking about spec shit is literally missing the point nintendo is not selling you this, this is 100% aim at parents who have kids for the upcoming pokemon game so they can replace the 3ds the 100$ cheaper is what most parents will look at first when buying toys for their kids
Yeah I agree. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if it had a dock avalible.
Maybe I'll still pick one up if it's compatable with the third party ones
Eli Garcia
>but that's the point of the Lite! To be handheld only! What's the point of a Switch if it can't "Switch"? The 2DS was at least still a full functioning 3DS without the 3D option that nobody used anyway. Who the heck bought a 3DS for the 3D option? Nobody.
You just proved why it doesn't matter, retatd. The Lite can work without Switching just as the 2DS worked without 2D. Awful analogy kys.
Thomas Scott
>Nintendo is effectively admitting that joycons are a fucking gimmick and people only care about portable mode. No you retard. Pokemon and AC are coming out soon and they want to make the buy more attractive to Pokefags and ACfags who don't have a Switch yet. 2DS launched alongside Pokemon X and Y for this exact reason. Anyone who wanted a Switch for the selection of other games already has one by now, so it makes sense to release a budget model and tap into the huge market that is Pokemon and AC casuals who want to play Sword and Shield but are put off by the $300 switch price tag.
William Long
That's not a dock
Luke Hall
>Yea Forums constantly gets called nintendogaf >Yea Forums also whines relentlessly about anything nintendo does, no matter how minute it is
>One person criticizes Nintendo's decision to not include a mini dock or even something less convenient and half-assed like just putting an HDMI port on the switch mini >20+ replies defending this decision Seems pretty nintendoGAF to me
Dylan Watson
>Yea Forums also whines relentlessly about anything nintendo does, no matter how lite it is i fixed that for you bro, no charge
I already have one. I'm just pointing out that Nintendo is retarded for not doing something like this for people that want a smaller Switch but want it to have TV mode also. People already made a mini dock case that Nintendo could very well just copy.
