Right before Heavensward. Heavensward is 10/10, Stormblood is a step back and then Shadowbringers is 11/10.

unfortunately, ARR is average at best. It picks up at around level ~30 but I wouldn't say it ever gets "good". Heavensward (first expansion) is where it gets really good, then it takes a dip in Stormblood (2nd expansion), and then it goes to GOAT in Shadowbringers.

ARR picks up around the time you get to Eastern Thanalan and drops off again for a while. The story won't truly pick up until after you complete the original Lv.50 MSQ

Its at that point wear the start and endgame are far enough apart that they dont touch. Meaning its always a good time.

As much of a slog as ARR can be, you should still do your best to pay attention and don’t necessarily blow through everything. While ARR by itself isn’t great, it sets up characters and story that have fantastic payoffs later on.

DRG is excellent and feels fun as fuck and pretty darn involved without being silly like MNK.

BLM is really good but is ultimately just a turret. Chose depending on your playstyle I guess. Both are the respective peak of their DPS classes

You cast black/white magic variants of the same damage spells in equal amounts to accumulate a certain amount of white/black mana, then you consume it to boost your melee combo.

As far as utility it has a slight party damage buff on a long cooldown, a resurrection and a heal. The gameplay is very smooth but because it's so straightforward there's not much to optimize and so the class is very easy to play/has a low skill ceiling.

WHM has more DPS abilities. Assize and Misery. In addition to that, their Holy stuns which is insanely good for dungeon pulls. AST has too much busywork and has to blow all of its miniscule cooldowns just do get the job done. WHM feels like a monster truck, AST feels like you need Starcraft APM just to reach the baseline.

Try out AST buddy, job feels like absolute garbage.
And SCH are mad because they lost the most skills

SCH are unhappy because they lost half their DPS kit, have no meaningful Aetherflow dump, and have janky and poorly thought out pet controls.
ASTs are unhappy because their potencies on both healing and damage are way undertuned and the new card system is needlessly busy, catapulting them to have the highest CPM in the game by a significant margin with very little payoff.

WHMs are happy because they have the most potent abilities both when it comes to healing and damage, their toolkit is finally very well rounded, and they just feel very satisfying to play compared to any of the other healers.

The only thing really salvageable from 1.0-1.23 is the battle system, which has some cool elements. It played like somebody spilled molasses on your keyboard/controller though. I think the main thing that people remember about 1.x was the feeling of "things are actually going to get patched and improve." I thought this during SB and then they gave us all the shit we got in ShB.
We even got two new spells that fit perfectly into our toolkit even though I thought for sure there was no way we could fit anything into our tight rotation. The only thing I could ask for now is an enchant weapon spell so I can become Vivi and let other party members cast fire IV through their weapons. Also maybe burst since we have flare and freeze. Maybe make it like a super aoe thunder that can only be cast using thundercloud procs.

When Louisoix died, he passed on his mission of saving the world to her, and she didn't know how to handle that burden. She crumbled and just kept hoping for Hydaelyn, and later WoL, to take care of things for her. It's part of her character arc, and reinforces the main theme of the game that failing to rely on your own strengths is dangerous.

Also, remember how Light is the element of passivity? How the Ascians needed everyone to stop moving forward and instead look to Vauthry to take care of their every needs in order to finish the Light Calamity? Notice how that entirely lines up with how the Warrior of Light has affected people?

Haven’t played AST at all but here’s a comparison of SCH and WHM
>both have a DoT, a single target, and aoe spell
>dia has double the potency of biolysis for the same mp. SCH no longer has its other 3 dots to make up for it
>glare has 20 more pot than broil 3, for the same mp
>art of war actually has 20 higher potency than holy... but it doesn’t have the stun or any extra effect for that matter and costs 200 more money for some reason
>WHM also gets an extra “sorry you had to waste gcds healing” attack to make up for some of the dps loss

What does SCH get in trade for having to spend more MP for less damage? Some of the worst MP regen in the game. WHM mp auto regens more than the spells cost during the cast time for Holy, and if you even look at the icon for Art of War twice you’ll be out of mp until 5.1 drops. Not that it matters because the WHM was probably using Thin Air to make all those holys free anyway

Now, SCH can heal everyone to full and shield them for double their health in 1 gcd, but we’ll see if anything in this game will ever need that much healing. That was the same problem with WHM in Stormblood. Tons of healing potential, nothing to heal. You pretty much never need half your kit unless you need to carry a pack of shitters and everything goes sideways

So while you’re spending 80% of your career mashing Broil over and over, you’re going to want to use some aetherflow abilities to charge up your fairy so you can use some more of those emergency skills. Except there’s nothing to heal. Excog and Soil are already on cd(and will probably be wasted anyway) what do you do? Overheal? Float the stack in case you need lustrate? Either way you’re wasting one resource in case you need another.

Literally just adding old energy drain back would fix all of this.

But that doesn’t even get into the shittiness of pet commands now. The new one is a full gcd with cast time for a shitty version of succor
