A lot of it is exaggerated. It's at 30fps, but it's consistent for the most part. Some effects are missing and some textures are lower quality, but only on a few areas. Resolution is lower, but is manageable. It's a weak version, but within the normal parameters of a normal Unreal Engine port in the Switch (quite boring if you want to start a shitfling, if you ask me), specially if you consider that the switch came out mid-development so there was not even the possibility to optimise the port.

The actual game breaking problem is that there is a significant delay between the press of the buttons and the actions on the screen. This makes doing shit like Rekka motions nigh impossible on the Kung Fu boots and stuff like that.

I don't go there but in all these bloodstained threads I haven't seen any caps.

The problem is that portable mode gimmick that means you absolutely need to make your game in a way it can change the system specs on the fly at any moment and not crash the whole thing. They really need to develop their switch ports from the ground up in order to look good, otherwise they end up with what's basically a glorified Vita port.

The system specs are exactly the same docked and undocked, portable graphical adjustments are just made to keep battery life a bit longer.

Plenty of people here said it was shit. I think they just have trash taste. Dom's boss fight song being a remix of the item store theme was brilliant.

So, I love this game. I think it's my favorite behind SotN and I know some of that is just inherent bias since SotN has been my favorite game for over 20 years.

The issues I think are twofold. One is that we're inherently more comfortable in the Castlevania setting just due to familiarity with the characters, aesthetic, history, etc. The other is that the castle in Bloodstained just doesn't feel quite as well done as Aria. Functionally it's fine, it's not unpleasant to traverse or anything, but visually there are few areas that pop or make you feel dread or anything. When you really break it down it's:

>Two lab areas that really should have been combined into one large lab since both are tiny
>FOUR cave areas (Forbidden Underground Waterway, Inferno Cave, Hidden Desert, Glacial Tomb) with different skins -- I think this is the biggest issue
>Oriental Lab -- also partially a cave area but once "indoors" I liked it but wish they'd done more with it
>Cathedral but it's too bright and lacks a gothic tone
>An interesting but not terribly well executed tower area
>Secret Garden which I mostly like but I think should have had more green and beauty to inspire some awe
>A giant Secret Garden -- I actually loved Den of Behemoths but it was also clearly a lazy option
>A gilded hall but there's no sense of drama to it so most people would never guess it leads to the Gebel fight
>A ship, again a good idea but the rain sheen makes it look cheaper than it should

And that's pretty much it. With how much of the map consists of cave like areas and how disconnected a lot of the map is, it makes the actual castle part feel fairly small.

All physical unpatched versions have bug hat stops you from progressing. So it defaults to PC for me.

This is absolutely true, especially for any game after SotN. The vast majority of songs from every game after SotN has been mediocre with a couple of standout tracks. I actually think Bloodstained has more great but not legendary songs than any post-SotN Castlevania and there are more than a couple really fantastic ones.

I don't think we have any Lost Paintings or Iron Blue Intentions in the soundtrack that will become beloved classics as the series progresses which is its only real failing.

I loved Aria and I can't remember a single part of the castle at all. In fact, I can't remember any of the castles in any of the metroidvanias except SotN's, while I have pretty much the entire Bloodstained map. It's obviously an unfair comparison though since it's still fresh in my mind, but I'm sure areas like the Oriental Lab and the train will stick around.

Depends on the weapon. Shoe techniques are all fucking worthless with the obvious exception of the flash air kicks for sequence breaking purposes.

I'm guessing he's talking about the Tower of Twin Dragons. Gears of Fortune is a great track but navigating the area is a bit tedious initially.

That said, once you have High Jump and Accelerator I actually find it to be a ton of fun to run around. Using Teps Oceus and having it hit enemies halfway around the tower is also fucking great.

The teleports behind you katana technique can be helpful if you want to collect boss medals.

The heel drop break dance technique isn't that bad at all. It's a good finisher after jump kicking.

That's literally 50% of Shoe Techniques.

And Techniques are mostly about fun. They're rarely the most efficient way to do a thing, sans the Katana Jinrai technique and the Valkyrie Sword's hidden technique for their time stop/i-frame properties. It's just fucking fun to leap at an enemy with a Helmsplitter or counter an attack or do a kick combo.

I do hope they add more techniques to the game. I love that you can actively combo techniques with the Katana and hope other weapons get a similar number. At a minimum, we need a new Whip Technique added.

The main thing is just being aware that backdash has no i-frames. Only use it if it will actually move you out of the way.

You can also semi-cheese it with melee using Katana Nothing Personnel attacks but if you want to avoid that and Crissaegrim spam, it's just practicing and learning boss patterns, other than the few bosses that have largely unavoidable attacks, where you may wanna bring in the shield.

Having autism pays off I guess, by the time I got to the end I had 99.50% and most relevant things, flamethrower shotgun is fucking broken.

You can use Standstill to keep most of her attacks at Bay and spam Jinrai to keep her from moving too much (since it stops time for her.)

Also, Bael is susceptible to Standstill as well.

Digital foundry has a good video comparison between versions, but ill summarize

It only slows down during rotating segments with the big cogs at the twin tower towers. So not even all of the twin towers, even if most of the outside areas.
Aside from there were only a couple of very small and seemingly random areas throughout the castle that could face a moment of slowdown.

Don't know what else to tell you. It's the Twin Towers plus like a corner of the cathedral and a corner of the inferno cave.

Is this a handheld thing? I tried handheld a couple of times and got a couple seconds of completely sudden and random slowdown outside of the home base. But only then never otherwise. Switched back to playing docked.

That would explain why. In docked mode only the Towers of Twin Dragons suffers from slowdown. In handheld it's all over the place randomly.

In the Lost Garden there's a hallway with the same Gremory moon you slashed in the Gebel fight, go slash it with the Zangetsuso. It is located up-and-to-the-left from the Warp/Chariot room.
