OP

GAY
&
A FAGGOT

I enjoyed Dusk.
Amid Evil is better though.

how can it be overhyped if literally no one talks about it

I think i bought it 16.99, it was pretty awesome. Even if it wasnt, i wouldnt call 17 dollars overpriced

>check comment section
>furries

Truly the peak of humankind.

the best thing is how no one says anything besides
>wow nice video
not even one person going against his opinion "respectfully".

The game has some problems with weapon balance and the level design is hit or miss for like the first two episodes, but it's pretty solid for the price. I got my money's worth I think.

I liked Dusk, but certain reviewers did suck it´s dick way too much due to being friends with the devs. The first episode felt kinda lackluster and the penultimate level was lazy bullshit.

Shit video btw, OP.

>Youtuber says Dusk is overrated and overpriced
>He plays CS:GO

Attached: o9VDHIw.jpg (500x500, 42K)

user, stop shilling your videos here.

>I played on medium

Disliked, closed.

Might as well ask this here
I was thinking about getting Dusk since I've heard a lot of nice things about it
I'm a big fan of Quake, but at the same time I don't want to play the Dusk if it's just going to be a Quake clone
Are the weapons and enemies interesting enough to differentiate it?

>plays multiplayer
>gets BTFO
>wow this sucks shit game

>here's why
pure click bait trash

In DUSK the super shotgun actually kills enemies in one blast.

WOAH WTF BRO THIS GAME IS SO FUCKING EASY

>Medium
Stop shilling your retarded e-celebs here you fucking furry.

> Literally first point is about peoples playtime
Stopped watching right there. Disliked and reported for wasting my time.

I played this game because it's quake, it feel diferent enough, use more enemies and bigger space, some levels are pretty tight. only bad thing is the last 3 levels maybe.

Holy FUCK
>plays on medium
>Doesn't understand bhopping and complains about it
>Uses people play time to judge the games value

Not only that but he's a cheater.

>dude why is the medium mode so easy?
This has to be the most zoomer video I've seen in a while. good shit op.

It is not.

it definitely looks way better than quake, at least as far as environment and colors are concerned and you move/shoot much faster. the enemies fall into similar categories (tracking projectile enemy, fast melee enemy, etc.) but they aren't straight rip offs. things like the boneballs, horrifying ghoul things you fight in crypt of the flesh, the wendigos and most of the enemies introduced after episode one are pretty unique. asides from the shotguns and the grenade launcher the games don't really share many weapons, the nail guns are replaced with hitscan guns and the crossbow and hunting rifle are new additions.

>single player games arent my thing
Fag detected

I've heard people comparing it to Blood in the terms of atmosphere

Are you pretending people who watch video game videos are for any other demogrpahic?

If they did, they'd get downvoted into dust. Youtube comments are probably even worse than reddit.

The enemies are more similar to Doom's. Analogs to the Archviles & Arachnotrons are absent, but the others have some sort of replacement.
It doesn't have DRM, so pirate it now and if you like it buy it when the mod tools are released.

You are entitled to your opinion, I like both a lot.

>downvoted
Downvotes on Youtube literally do nothing. They're a leftover from pre G+ comment system

Not gonna click.
I don't need some faggot telling me how to have fun. Game is good.

He's not even doing that. It's just a compilation of him going full DSP during a stream.

This.
The guy's a fucking child trying to stroke his own ego.

Well, yeah. He plays CSGO.

Amid Evil is 100x better, and Ion Maiden is better than both. If you really want a good game to look forward to, check out Prodeus.

Get it. Good times. Then play Quake 1.5 and get utterly shit stomped.

you aren't missing much, I'll sum it up for you:

>plays on medium, then complains the game is too easy
>complains that projectile based enemies can't hit you after you run really far out of range and projectiles are slower on medium
>complains about graphics and multiplayer on a game made by like 3 guys
>complains about how fast you are, thinks speed running/avoiding enemies on a low difficulty makes the game broken
>complains that melee enemies can't jump up to kill you on platforms
>invents issues to bitch about
>finds the one negative review on steam and plasters in on the screen in a badly formatted/stretched image at the end of the video

I would say I'm fairly certain the video is bait but seeing as how most of his old content is low IQ cs:go vids it probably isn't

>Darkplaces

Attached: 1500013014821.png (498x409, 28K)

I thought this was bait until I read the embarrassing comments section. Guy feels entitled to attack anyone who slightly disagrees with him.

Did dusk episode 2 is the most evil shit ever. Fucking going deeper underground and through evil Satan death machines.. so evillll and cool music. I love it.

So damn fun killing stuff through walls with the crossbow

>plays on medium then complains it's too easy
>only plays the first and admittedly worst episode
>gets to places enemies can't reach and then complains enemies can't reach him
>complains that SHOTGUNERS can't hit him with their SHOTGUNS when he's far away.

>rest of his channel is just CS:GO shit

Attached: 1562669873504.jpg (480x573, 21K)

Yeah, wait for it to be on GOG though

the game is way too easy on every difficulty.

Cero Miedo was a pretty good challenge for me personally. Especially the start of episode 2 which is where I died the most.

I haven't played dusk but whoever made this video comes off as a whiny nerd, I wanna slap him so much. He has that annoying whiny nasally voice.

It's a shame the Devs felt the need to reply to this guys video. Now it's just a circlejerk war

I really don’t like this faggot already

Wait where?

His "criticism" is just "this sucks" "This is garbage"

Massive quake 1 fag here
Its faced paced like quake but it feels different. The weapons feel and sound good and the level design in general is pretty damn good. I would say it kinda feels like a cross between blood and q1. I really enjoyed it, more so than I thought, medium difficulty was pretty easy though.

>It's a shame the Devs felt the need to reply to this guys video. Now it's just a circlejerk war

he deleted their comment and said they deleted it themselves. he then bitches about how people in the dusk discord said he sucked

Attached: faggot.png (1289x789, 180K)

Can't handle basic fucking banter

Attached: au3SeFs.png (1277x321, 52K)

The devs should've been more mature about this though, even if this guys video was a terrible review.

Lol actually Faggot the fact this video isn’t get a ton of dislikes and the fact he’s children fan base are liking it even the fact they’ve never played any old FPS games is just embarrassing

Based and championpilled

Attached: DqVsiIGVsAAd-6A.jpg (1600x900, 240K)

Episode 2 is genuinely stressful. I can only complete 1 level at a time

No, the guy doesnt deserve any response apart from disrespect.

I'd say the game is definitely overhyped. Its fun and all, but a little too self aware in the wrong way. The game has shit graphics, and I don't mean because its based on the retro fps look. The models, and textures are fucking garbage, Quake 1 had WAY better models/textures in it and that came out over 20 years ago. Seems like the artist/devs looked at retro fps games and said "DUHH BAD GRAPHICS= RETRO LOOK". Seriously, some of the stuff in the game is straight up lazy.

Not too mention the complete lack of polish the first episode has compared to the rest of the game. They definitely picked up the development slack in the later eps', but I still think they should go back and redo the first episode. Its a slog to play.

Attached: 1552589037618.jpg (500x565, 16K)

That guy is a fucking faggot.

Attached: file.png (890x386, 55K)

As someone who loves Dusk, yeah, the graphics are honestly one the worst parts about it. If mods ever happen outside of custom levels, I'd love to see a model rehaul, keep it low-poly but make it better.

I hope Ion Maiden gets its release date announced tomorrow.

It's not as vertical as Quake
and more aesthetic scenarios than actual level design which isnt an entirely bad thing

damn dusk fags seething so hard rn.

That, and the A.I too. People are REALLY nitpicking this video. Yeah he says a lot of bullshit, but what he shows of the A.I in the game is completely true. The pathfinding of the enemies in this game is awful, they get stuck on shit all the time.

Based. Dusk is solid but Amid Evil has better enemy and level design, along with much better lighting and graphics.

Amid Evil honestly blew me away.

Hey guys are you an "alpha male" like ggmanlives?

Is he autistic?

I don't know if it's overhyped but it's absolutely overpriced.

Supposedly the mod tools will be a full SDK, so you should be able to replace assets.

No am God like Civvie 11.

Welp seems like that this guy is not only a brainlet without taste, he also has a very fragile ego.
That is not a good combination.
Dusk is pretty much pretending to be a Quake clone but the movement is much faster and acrobatic ( you can do backflips while you jump it's rather neat). The only things that it takes from quake are the graphic style and the tone of the story.
The art style is more akin to a horror movie like in blood with some occult stuff sprinkled in and the weapons are a mix of classic stuff with theire own twists ( except the super shotty which is just perfect) and that with only two hitscan weapons ( hunting rifle and pistols) .
Enemys meanwhile are not bland and easily identified but they are quiet deadly especially on ciero miero and duskmare but there are no hit scanners thankfully.
The level designs are in some cases rather crazy in a good way but you will notice that some of the moving stuff was done in unity not the quake engine which could take some of the quake emersion away.
So in short it's not just a pretender game that try's to be quake, it is it's own kind of mix of classic shooter elements from the build engine and quake engine games with some newer and neat ideas baked in that is wearing a quake engine costume made in unity.

Wait, hold on, I don't watch streamers, but does the $527.00 in the top mean a singular person donated this guy that much money? This guy got half a grand to play Dusk on an easier difficulty and say it's too easy?

Episode 2>3>1

boringguy is a retard

i griefed csgo with him years ago and all he did was try and mimick stgggs like the poser he is

he's got a hate boner for dusk because it offends his sensibilities as a clinically unfunny goroncity reject

Well they had to downgrade unity many times because of the updates that the engine received to keep the style intact.
I bet that led to many models becoming far more ugly than it was planned.

Quake 1.5 is fun as fuck. Arcane Dimensions is godlike. I love how 1.5 changes the final stage of Quake.

Episode 2 was better pre-Erebus, while episode 3 was good for the city maps.

I feel like OP is a thinly veiled NYPA request as nobody would post this as a genuine argument.
But I don't see what can be done other than bombing dislikes and the comment section, neither of which affect monetization afaik. And any attention we pay this retard only gives him more money.

An obnoxious retard with a gay schtick?

I agree with most points, Dusk was essentially an average run of the mill game that was propped up by it's word-of-mouth and marketing, much like Strafe. If it actually was a game released in the 90's/early 00's it would be completely generic and forgotten. I think as far as the old-school shooter throwback both Amid Evil and at least the episode 1 of Ion Maiden did much better job of not fellating old shooters mindlessly but rather but doing the best possible game within old-shooter constraints.
The situation felt very similar to me as to when random pixel art indie platformers claim to be retro 8bit games, which is also mostly marketing. Stuff like Shovel Knight and Oniken are more sincere 8bit games, they could have been made in a NES or a Master System and mostly respet those limitations, and are not just emulating the look and capitalizing on nostalgia.

based

do you think boring posted the video here himself, seeing as how he use to try to roll with Yea Forums e-celebs?

Dusk has some good feeling guns and fun power ups, but yeah the enemy design is real lacking. None of the enemies feel all that threatening.

in this thread we now name FPS games better than dusk - and I agree - I refunded dusk after an hour

Games that are actually good and playable today please

Amid Evil
Shadow Warrior redux

>E1M1
Good intro, but boring and easy level
>E1M2
huge open space makes it easy to outrun all bullets
>E1MS
practically unfinished or a level made very early on because of the ridiculous amount of backtracking while none of the other levels in the game do
>E1M3
good atmosphere, going constantly above and underground keeps it exciting, rat ambush is good but the boss fight sucks
>E1M4
looks basic, introduces the super shotgun by giving you a power-up and letting you go nuts with it, but the finale is underwhelming
>E1M5
the non-linearity of the level is very limited, the canyon fight is somehow completely skippable, and the level itself is too big and could have used more scarecrows
>E1M6
stands out for being so claustrophobic, although Forkmaidens are just Wizards with inflated HP and throwing objects is too OP
>E1M7
giant flat open space makes outrunning stuff too easy, again could have used more scarecrows to put actual pressure for long-term engagements
>E1M8
best level of the episode, secrets allow ridiculous amounts of sequence-breaking not seen in the rest of the game and encounters get more challenging albeit still cheesable, the finale is a neat setpiece, but this level is a lousy place to introduce the Mortar in however
>E1M9
open unrestricted level made for exploration, however to progress you have to follow the one given path, at least the underground encounters are actually good by surrounding you more often
>E1M10
this boss should have been a regular enemy, but the open space makes micrododging projectiles easier than necessary and you can even cheese it out by standing in the arena entrance

overall most levels are very visually undetailed, secrets often aren't really secrets, limited enemy variety at this point holds encounter design back, a lot of levels are rather easy, and most levels don't really stand out
it wouldn't give you a very good impression of the game

>Games that are actually good and playable today please
Dusk

>tfw found medium difficulty e2 and e3 to be pretty fucking challenging
also I really liked Amid Evil too but I did not like the enemies that much and I found weapon feedback to be a bit lacking, like I didn't really feel impacts
Shit was gorgeous and the levels were neat though

don't leave us hanging, do a rundown on the other two eps too

>E2M1
the first part kind of meanders but gets real going once you get in the fortress, the amount of verticality makes exploring it a treat
>E2M2
the introduction of the Wendigo was excellently done and has some cool setpieces, though all of them are basically cheesable by taking it slowly, and the Wendigo introduction is a waste of time on replays
>E2M3
the biggest difficulty spike up to this point and one it needed, the combat intensity is great but the aesthetics are very generic until the very last part
>E2M4
this level looks and sounds amazing, the encounters are mostly ok since the game doesn't have the balls to make you fight enemies while climbing walls
>E2MS
the parkour nature of this level gives it a very great sense of pacing since it's constantly throwing new shit at you, but the giant parkour course at the end is too devoid of enemies
>E2M5
introduces the superhot gimmick which is neat, and the level rotation gimmick makes this one of the most standout levels of the episode, even the encounters are decent although the mama boss fight is boring
>E2M6
it's like playing a Doom 2 city level, which sucked because they were aimless and didn't tell you where to go whereas encounter design suffered because everything tries to follow you at once which makes enemies easily bottleneckable because of the cracks in the floor inhibiting the movement, trying to get the secrets takes up way too much time, at least the reveal at the end looked cool
>E2M7
decent level encounter-wise since it has the gall to lock you in an arena more often to prevent you from just circlestrafing everything to death, though the level architecture is kind of boring since its basically one temple copypasted twice
>E2M8
the skybox looks atmospheric, but the encounters are dung since you can just bait and peek most enemies
>E2M9
boring level where the crossbow makes most encounters too easy, also one one of the bosses is just the E1M3 and E2M5 bosses recycled

A lot of the weapons in Amid Evil have some noteworthy start up, and enemies don’t seem to really flinch from them, so you can end up feeling disconnected.

I love the enemy design though, they’re so damn varried.

The most boring levels are the flat and open ones. It's a shame Dusk doesn't have many claustrophobic or vertical levels. E1 especially tries way too hard to create believable spaces.

i dont know but if you're listening boring then you are gay

>E2M10
technically a decent boss fight, however most of his teleports are scripted so he gets more predictable over time, when you don't accidentally telefrag him

this level was a massive aesthetic improvement when it started ditching realism and the new enemy types added more challenge to the combat, though they weren't used as often as they should

>E3M1
great intro where you have to make do with only the sword before letting you go on a rampage with the crossbow to make up for starting out so underpowered
>E3M2
fire/ice theme looks cool, though at this point the crossbow makes most encounters trivial since it's all primarily Wizards placed around
>E3M3
this level is like a byte-sized Arcane Dimensions level, in that you're given tons to explore before triggering combat by the obviously trapped key placed in the wide open, aesthetically and combat-wise it's great, but its water temple gimmick is too underutilized
>E3M4
this level is actually fucking scary alongside the introduction of the Horrors, visuals and sound design are on point and the layout suitably claustrophobic, however the Bone Orb introduction of spawning two in your face in a very small room is some bullshit
>E3M5
first part of this level tries to be Serious Sam and fails horribly, enemies in DUSK simply aren't a threat on giant flat open spaces and the tornado setpieces takes too long to end, then it lets you go on yet another crossbow-on-wizard rampage where the only encounter that really works is the very last one, or at least it would have had it not let you backpedal to the entrance to take out all enemies one by one
at least this level looks good with its colored glass motif and ominous red fog for the first part
>E3M6
you could stack fast-fire totems from the start but it's a concept that you only explore this late into the game? nigger what the fuck is wrong with you
only good part is the first part when you get the power-ups, the later E1 callbacks are just boring to play

>much like Strafe
Suck my cock

Nice non-argument.

CS:GO is everything but overpriced desu, it regularly goes on sale for like 5 dollars.

To suggest that Dusk has the same lack of quality as a game with literal randomly designed levels is peak disingenuous shitposting. Fuck you.

Why would you pay $5 for a free game.

>crossposting this to the youtube comments section

>E3MS
its shit, its a secret level with only fucking rats, even on DUSKMARE the only thing that will kill you is losing your patience because the Mortar lets you reliably kill all rats, and the boss at the end is just a box dog with an upscaled rat model
>E3M7
love it or hate it, I like it because of its place in the campaign where its a brief lull in the usual action by having you go through weird gravity puzzle bullshit while revealing some deepest lore even if the combat in this level is very light, its a moment of introspection before you head to the final encounter so I can respect that
>E3M8
at this point the dev ran out of ideas and started mashing together parts of existing levels, which actually works because it adds some more weight to the journey by reminding you of your past adventures and ending the level with E1M1
while there are some cool-looking setpieces, none of them are really a challenge however, which it really should at this point in the game
>E3M9
it's a flat wave-based arena level where you take on almost every enemy type in the game, thematically as a penultimate encounter this works, in practice not so much because this level is just circlestrafe city, just ten minutes of fucking circlestrafing, aside from the bosses and Bone Orbs because their indiscriminate bullet spam makes circlestrafing highly dangerous and requires you to pay some attention
>E3M10
the callback to opening the portal with three keygems is cool, and Jacob deserves credit for being the best doppelganger boss fight in an FPS (not a high bar) by virtue of being able to bhop while shooting, but his projectiles have too much RNG spread to consistently avoid
nyarlathotep was a cool reveal but rather unfitting to end the game on a gimmick fight, on top of the fight itself being braindead easy once you figure it out

episode 3 has some cool ideas, it just doesn't really explore them, and a lot of levels feel like they were randomly placed until E3M6

Good post. It's extremely overhyped. It's good, but Amid Evil is the only game NBI made that deserves an "overwhelmingly positive" status. Dusk's models are dogshit, its AI is fundamentally terrible and the game's challenge comes from ramping up the speed rather than making smarter AI, and it's really fucking short with very little motivation to pick it back up after completing it. For $20 it's pretty overpriced, imo.

OP's vid is pretty dumb though, only brings up a few valid points while the crux of the vid is just complaining that the game is too easy while playing on an easy difficulty setting.

Those are top donations, which smaller streamers usually don't ever reset because it incentivizes people to donate so they can rise to the top of the donator highlight reel. Those are accumulated over what I assume to be dozens of streams, not just this one where he played Dusk.

>mfw i had literally no idea csgo went f2p until this exact moment
welp

Attached: sip.png (1836x944, 1.49M)

This guy acts like he's DSPs brother or something, very similar commentary while he's playing the campaign

>Amid Evil
ehh

it has variety but it doesn't capitalize on it
every episode will have its own enemies but the more unique ones never reappear beyond their episode
enemies who fire bouncing projectiles? snap
enemies who fire homing projectiles? snap
enemies who can block your shots? snap
enemies who can dodgeroll the fire on some of your weapons like the Skaarj in Unreal? snap
enemies who can grapple you towards them? snap
enemies who are basically close-range hitscanners? snap
enemies riding around on mounts capable of firing and moving simultaneously? snap
but enemies whose projectiles are dealt with by simply circlestrafing or more enemies who run up to you to smack your face in or leap at you to smack your face in? can't get enough of that

like, the level design in Serious Sam and Doom worked because of how all the enemy types are mixed together, and meanwhile here you arbitrarily limit them to their own episode for purely aesthetic reasons while killing potential gameplay variety

unbased and hereticpilled
keep making garbage csgo vids
back to the void

Attached: buydusk.jpg (1920x1080, 270K)

Amid Evil was pretty damn good, but the Forges and the Void fucking sucked. The weapons not having a real secondary mode seems kinda lazy.

>enemies riding around on mounts capable of firing and moving simultaneously? snap
FUCK these spongy niggers.

Attached: 1507871294839.png (583x608, 53K)

it's more a mix of 90's shooters. People compare it to Quake 1 mostly because of graphics.

as for weapons, there's few unusual pieces
starting scythes can deflect projectiles if well timed
sword can deflect projectiles without timing, kills in 1 to 3 hits, depending on enemy, and has power attack that hits harder but requires charging
crossbow can pierce enemies and map objects. Yes, you can shoot through walls.
mortar shells can be remotely detonated, and you can use them as mines.

There’s literally only one enemy that rides around on a mount and one enemy with close range hitscan. There’s also only one enemy that can reflect attacks, and one enemy grapples you towards them while another teleports you towards them.

You’re being a little retarded here, there’s for sure a lot of samey enemies but the vast majority of them are unique.

>first point is about peoples playtime
what exactly he has problem with?

This guy is a retard. If you're going to review a game, you just jump right into it or explain the game's premise - not bitching about other faggots reviewing it.

>This game feels like it's using nostalgia as a salespoint
Based on Truthpilled, this shit is the Stranger Things of vidya, overrated trash. Seriously just go but the Blood or Shadow warrior ports instead of being a retarded poser and supporting this retarded trend

Attached: 1545674220195.jpg (960x960, 85K)

His argument is that someone getting 5 to 10 hours out of a 20 dollar game, but giving it a positive review anyway, is somehow disingenuous.

I personally have a rule of one hour of entertainment per dollar spent, so I almost understand what he's saying, but I also accept that others can and do put a dollar amount on just how much fun they had even if it wasn't a 20 hour long experience.

We shouldn't reject something automatically just because it's notalgiabait. Nostalgiabait can be good. We should encourage media that wants to revive old trends but does so in unique and well-executed ways. Dusk just isn't a good example of that.

strafe has sections of non-randomly generated areas, and those are pretty decent IMO. not saying strafe is a better game, but those two areas are pretty good

Level intros are the same, but every level is composed of the same prefab rooms connected up in different ways.

Attached: 88412545368.png (1023x648, 284K)

missing the point completely, I outlined them precisely because they are unique
I'm arguing that the aforementioned unique enemies should have been used together more often instead of having each of them appear only for 3 levels in the game independent of each other

The crossbow also does knockback opposite to the direction of fire so if you aim it at the ground you can fly.

Also every weapon can be flipped with the R key and the flips also count as a melee attack, which you can use to kill enemies.

The bolt action rifle also does penetration damage like the crossbow but can only penetrate so many enemies before the bullet is stopped and it doesn't go through walls.

Rapid fire powerups can also stack on top of eachother.

top reviews are just most upvoted ones, and this causes landslide effect. Your review is on top, so it's most likely to be upvoted and stay on top forever.

took me like 15 hours to complete game, and I'm itching to play again. Maybe find all secrets. I normally don't do that, but I like when secrets are not complete bullshit, but something I should notice and I paid attention.

It also made me want to reinstall Painkiller.

why would I give a fuck about some random dude? go fuck yourself.

crossbow knockback is great for when you don't want to waste nail or HP on rocketjump.

Fair point, then wanting unique enemies in each episode does really limit how many show up.

Might as well, I just noticed there hasn't been any new comments for days, so he's gonna have a lot of fun with this surge of people calling him a faggot.

Really the only problem I had with amid evil was how enemy types weren't capitalized on well enough. It's still a fantastic game.

the quirky lowercase idgaf typing is fucking annoying
