playing rn, so far there doesn't seem to be a strong narrative thrust but rather an easy going road trip style adventure going on. But i also just visited Gladios sister after soending 3 days just hunting and yucking it up.
But seriously, what is there to expect from a FF game, story wise? It's a group of rebells fighting an evil empire every time, the rest is character stuff and so far that's the games strongpoint.

YES. I had this problem because I kept doing side quests. Ideally you’ll finish the game below level 50. I finished at 75, and it can be anticlimactic.
