But that bottom one isn't American writing, it's from the bible you retard
Point is having the character quote it.
why not both?
The Holy Bible, AKA, the most American book of all time
America ain't got no King James.
Point is quoting someone else isn't a demonstration of good writing.
JRPG.
They have friends and banter.
The few WRPGs I played like Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher3 don't have those.
You can have temporary companions but they don't interact with the main story/side missions at all.
>they don't interact with the main story/side missions at all
And that's a good thing
JRPGs have typically one track only for story, which makes me wonder where the roleplaying was supposed to be
Both have gems buried under mounds of trash. Japanese writing tends to have a slightly lost in translation effect since the translators in the industry are not generally the same as the ones studying to translate hard literature. After learning the language for a few years, I’m happy to say that there’s a world of interesting Japanese writing that isn’t just weebshit whooaaaooooaaa so quirky slapstick, and it sounds way better in the original language.
Western writing either takes itself way too seriously that it almost approaches self parody. I’m not fond of when writers double down on grit and grimdark as a lazy substitute for complex characters. This is most egregious in high fantasy.
None of those wrpgs are party based. If you want banter in a wrpg you are looking in the wrong games. Mass Effect and Planescape Torment have party style with groups of companions talking and banting for example.
According to mormons Jesus was american born and raised
Mormons are based
Companions in NV can have drastic effects on main and side story quests though, in fact you can basically skip entire sections of major quests with certain companions in your party. Plus they will defect from your party if they don't like the faction you're siding with.
I don't think the dialog from the kid is even real
>If you want banter in a wrpg you are looking in the wrong games.
Well I'm just comparing big titles in general and I don't play many WRPGs to begin with.
And JRPGs are just by nature mostly team-based, FF, Tales, Atelier, or DQ.
Even games with no party system like Yakuza give you a friend/bro for the narrative.
If big WRPGs like the ones I tried don't focus on friendship, I can safely say that friendship-related narrative isn't one of WRPGs' main trait.
it is
You're right and the dialogue from Joshua Graham is not RPG writing but a quote. They are intentionally false examples. I just saw the posts beside eachother and thought it was funny. For the record I like both New Vegas and Persona. Though if I was forced to choose, it'd be western writing which I find is, at its best, more profound.
Get ready for slavery, Esau
I used to be mormon. This isn't true, mormons believe Jesus was born in bethlehem and lived in Jerusalem (therefore jewish), but after he was crucified and rez'd he then visited the americas.
at the Temple was where he spent most of his days
