This controller is honest to god fucking garbage. How the fuck can anyone stand using it?
This controller is honest to god fucking garbage. How the fuck can anyone stand using it?
Playstation and Xbox controllers are all perfectly fine.
Nintendo on the other hand
what's your favorite controller?
Fundamentally terrible post
Xbox has had the best controller since its launch, even including the way too huge one. Xbone easily beats PS4 and Switch controllers.
Mouse and keyboard.
Take out the Touch Pad and Backlight and then change the SHARE button to SELECT then change the OPTIONS button to START.
FUCK IT.
Just let me use PS3 controllers on PS4.
I thought it's fine, my only complains are the microusb port, the d-pad, the location of the options/share buttons, the trackpad I never use, the light, and the battery.
calling mouse&keyboard a controller is a bit rude to these devices
More durable than fucking Joy-Cons.
I always thought "start" was pretty dumb considering it's typically used either to pause the game or open a menu.
The ONLY time is make sense is during the whole "press start to begin" which is fine being "any button" (or removed entirely and just go ahead and show the title screen menu).
Yet somehow can't even come close to their battery life
Awww sorry your little manlet hands too small for the ds4? Probably should just stick with the baby x1 controller then shortie.
Joycons barely do shit, of course they have longer battery life. IDIOT
Joycons have gyro and hd rumble and a bunch of other shit Nintendo put in
Or at least enough to cut the pro controller's battery life in half compared to the Wii U model
It has an a ridiculous number of features that never get used.
>Make the best controller ever
>Next generation make a shit ugly one that is awful
Sony literally just had to keep the Ds2 style. It wasn't hard. Maybe make the dpad less smushy.
Joy-cons have constant connection drops even with newer models. I bought switch during christmas and the right one constantly gives me connection issues.
DS4 could use some work but its generally pretty decent. My only real issue is with the triggers. The size is nice.
Tbh I think the switch joycons are the real hot garbage. That Dpad is disgusting. And the triggers feel like they're cheap.
You use start to unpause the game and to exit the menu.
I actually like DS4, Xbone, and Switch Pro controllers. All three are bretty gud. I use my Switch Pro on PC the most just because it's the cheapest to replace after wear and tear.
Works on my machine
I don't think undoing actions should be considered when naming buttons. It's essentially cancelling what you triggered.
Extremely doubt you havent had a situation where inputs were dropped.
what a shit opinion. the mushy-ass dpad is the only problem with this otherwise-perfect controller
You're supposed to sit when you use it, dummy.
ds4 is great. xbone controller dpad is trash, how do you even play tekken on that piece of shit?
it's just a holdover from NES games where SELECT would actually select shit in the main menu and START would start the game
>nintendzoomer can't even spell fundamentaly right
kek
why isn't there isn't the issue here, it's that it's dumb and there's no reason to keep it
the whole "press start to begin" is just antiquated design from acardes if anything
Yeah. In retrospect the warning signs were there when Sony made the stupid fucking back-touchpad for the Vita which was used by all of like two games, thank god. PS3 controller was pretty much perfect, so hopefully the PS5 controller will be ok.
>implying I am buying a PS5
well then i guess it's a good thing PS4 renamed it "Options" and XB1 renamed them "Menu" and "View"
how do people like the DS2/3, i have normal human-sized hands and that thing sucks to hold
Sadly out of all the current gen controllers that's the best one for all around use. It's good for most genres, you can easily argue the Xbox controller is better for shooters but that's really the only place where it shines and
>console shooters
Swap the left stick for the d-pad and its a good controller
it's the only sony controller i've actually liked.
I'm an xbox fanboy and I don't even like the controller. My problem with it is the sticks length/sensitivity. There's like no resistance to them. Also I prefer the old rb/lb.
The only problem I have ever had with my joycons is that my X button was a bit sticky when I first got it, and that disappeared with use.
The d-pad sucks a fucking dick, but the rest of it is fine.
Kill yourself zoomer
It's perfect for my tiny gayboy hands.
This except the opposite. The Xbox One d-pad way better for fighting games.
Nah, just prefer ergonomics over shit design
Based but not truly redpilled yet.
I hate the xbone icons for those, I never know which is which since I've never actually owned a bone controller
What a fucking disgrace of a controller
I have loved to buy Xbox controllers but it doesn't have gyro for my Botw :3
>Pro Controller best of both worlds
It has the best d-pad and analog sticks in any controller I've ever used. The buttons are honestly near perfect and don't "click" that much like the switch pro and xbone's controller. If it weren't for the obnoxious backlight and using the hidden button under the touch pad as the new select button then it'd be pretty much perfect.
I use it on PC and have no problems with it really. Why do you say it's garbage?
I think it's fine. I like the longer design from the ds3. I particularly like the d-pad for side scrollers. I really don't like having to use d-pads on the bottom position. It's awkward.
been gaming for 25 years and it is without a doubt the single greatest controller I have ever used. I'm hoarding them for PC gaming even after the PS4 goes bye-bye in case sony fucks up their next controller.
t. brainlet
DS4 is my favorite controller fuck you OP.
How is it better for shooters?
i like the controller when i don't have to use the sticks. also start is hard to hit but at least it's mostly unused.
literally nothing wrong with it except for games not utilising the touchpad so it ended up being a waste
>How the fuck can anyone stand using it?
There's games to play with it. Same reason why people suffered through the 3DS' PSP-esque control scheme for button-heavy games.
Yea agree, I hate microsoft and Xbox but the Ps4 controller anologos are jackshit compared to Xbox controller.
not the same guy but it's more comfortable to have the left stick closer to my thumb than the dpad, and it's easier to "claw" the analog stick and push a dpad with your thumb than to attempt to claw a specific dpad button, should you want to move and hit one at the same time.
After another one of these threads, I decided to get myself an Xbox controller for PC after years of using a DualShock 4. Dude, it’s exactly the same thing. Triggers are slightly better, and it’s a bit more comfortable to have the stick in the upper position, but it’s still pretty much the same when it comes to muh ergonomics. I like the sticks a lot more too but then just a preference.
I got a faulty one though, and now I’m thinking if I should return and get my money back or just ask the store to replace it with a new one. Using the d-pad is definitely more comfortable on the DS4, but I don’t really play games where it matters that much.
...
It's fine solely because previous dualshock versions were all dogshit while this one is acceptable
I still haven’t tried DMC on the Xbox controller because I’m used to claw my left hand when playing as Dante. I feel like it should be easier to do on the DS4, no? I haven’t properly tried moving the stick with my pointer finger and using the d-pad with the thumb though.
How is it just acceptable? How’s the Xbox controller that much better in your opinion if that’s the one you’re using?
I really wanted to like this but the face buttons are way too damn small. They're more like beads than buttons and the two front shoulder buttons are made cheap as fuck and are way too stiff
well i am used to the 360 controller and moved to the ds4, but the idea is your thumb is accurate while your claw finger is harder to be accurate with. i find it easier to just hold the stick in some direction with my pointer finger and to tap the dpad with my thumb than the other way around. if you need to do precise movements with the analog stick using your pointer finger, it's probably harder but usually you can just move in a straight line for a small bit and hit the dpad
The only thing I'm starting to miss is the L2/R2 buttons from the ds1 and ds2 controllers.
the 3 and 4 feel mushy somtimes with how much pull it gives you.
>front shoulder buttons
Bumpers, user. Bumpers.
The back two are triggers
Are you fuckers serious?? The PS3 controller?? I have 2 of them and both are only working because I had to roll up electrical tape and stick it to the membrane circuit board inside the controller, so it would make contact with the buttons correctly. The Dualshock 3 is the most flimsy, cheap piece of shit controller I've ever owned. The PS4 controller is god-like by comparison. It is the absolute best redesign of a controller since Nintendo went from NES to Super NES controllers. Are you fuckers retarded?
The face buttons are fine. Just takes some getting used to. I agree about the bumpers not being good.
The controller has a lot of other nitpicks but that's a small trade-off for a controller you can play almost any game with.
Pleb filter
>best controller
>Sony
Ah, so you're retarded
And the low battery life
And the shit ergonomics
And the faulty analogs
And the creaky casing
Mouse and keyboard offer way better control than any controller ever could. Youre a literal subhuman ape if you think otherwise.
>using face buttons
you know you can rebind any button?
you know you can rebind the face buttons to right pad clicking?
you know you can bind a button so that other buttons uses are changed when that button is pressed?
you know you can have a button do 2 actions through long and short presses?
WRONG.
Controller is the patrician's choice. Keyboard is for typing, retard. Controller is made for vidya.
Not for every game, you fucking mouthbreather.
Look at these retarded monkeys. They think they're people!
dpad suxxx
Cringe and bluepilled
great points. Why even have the face buttons at all then! *rolls eyes*
>Joy-cons have constant connection drops even with newer models
With the newer versions they fixed that actually. The only problem now is the dust one with the analogs.
name 1 game where controller will perform superior to m+kb
extra button presses for games that require them. like arma. or just for extra options. the steam controller is all about customizability.
The switch pro controller makes both look like utter garbage.
Plus it has 60 hour battery life.
It's good but I will NEVER get used to the option button's position.
they should have just let you press the touch pad on the left and right side for what used to be select and start in previous dual shocks
>switch pro controller
That horseshit is even worse than the steam controller. The absolute bottom of the barrel this gen. You are better off buying some third party controller from Trust.
So what you're saying is that you've never used one.
He never said anything like that.
Of course "he" did, when he went into full shitposting mode rather than saying anything of worth.
The absolute bottom of the barrel this gen is the Xbone because it doesn't even have gyro.
I actually like the ds4 a lot. It fits my hand perfectly, the general shape is a step forward from the previous DSs, but the trackpad, share and option buttons are shite.
t. Dont own a ps4, but have a DS4 for my pc when i need it
Too bad the rumble is kinda shit. It feels like holding a jar of malnourished bees.
Other than that, it a cross between the size of an Xbox and the gyro of a PS4
Eh, even without gyros its a pretty good controller from an ergonomics standpoint.
I'd say bottom of the barrel this gen is the ds4, it's hard to find a single good thing about it.
i like it and the design. feels natural to me
Not that user, but most fighting games and all racing games.
The keyboard is the ideal controller for fighting games. A Hitbox is just a keyboard with all the unnecessary keys removed.
No.
I bet you are fucking shit at fighting games.
This. DS4 is my favorite controller but it's far from perfect. Hope they remove the share button, the stupid light bar, and the touchscreens for the DS5.
>The keyboard is the ideal controller for fighting games
Are you retarded
.. Whats wrong with it?
Its barely any different to a xbone controller but the d-pad is actually functional for fighting games.
Try landing a few ewgf in a row on an xbone controller or a switch pro.
Good fucking luck.
user confirmed handlet
Go ahead, prove me wrong.
>The keyboard is the ideal controller for fighting games
Not really. Maybe 3-button fighters like Melty, which DOES have a strong keyboard player-base, but otherwise, no.
Show me a video of someone winning evo with a keyboard..
I'll wait.
I hate how shitty the battery is the most.
>leave control alone for a week
>come back to it
>battery is either dead or nearly dead
Meanwhile, I have other game controls that I have literally left alone for a month and the battery was at near full health.
Show me a video of Evo using PCs.
All dual shock controllers feel like cheap shit made in China, not even Nintendo at its lowest with the wiimote was that bad.
Just take the fucking GBA d-pad and replace every shitty console d-pad with it already. Holy shit. Why do they keep fucking up this bad over and over again when the answer is right fucking in front of them?
Super Meat Boy, Dustforce, Overcooked
I hate how battery life should be the MOST important aspect for video game companies to focus on for controllers, yet it seems only Nintendo does what with their 60 hour pro controller.
>All dual shock controllers feel like cheap shit made in China,
That's because they are. From what I remember at launch the things cost about $30 total to make.
Err.. keyboards plug in to PS4s if you didn't know.
>implying sonyfags know what their systems can do
But do the fighting games support them?
it feels better than the earlier sony controllers. Everything works okay.
My Steam Controller lasts about 80 hours.
I had a hard time with keyboard on Megaman Zero years ago
That's great then.
nice opinion.
It's honestly fine but
>shit battery life
>option and share positions are ass
>share being universal, you can't change it into a game-relevant button
Still better than the fucking XBox Controller light pointing directly into your eyes
Seething Xtranny
i've used my friends xbone controller and it just feels stiff and uncomfortable
ds4 > 360 > xbone
The point is to look at the game, not the controller
