Do you guys think they'll have gay marriage in rf5? I'm hoping they don't but I can tell there will be a shitstorm if there isn't since stardew did it. They could always just have the change portrait thing in it available from the start if they had to

I feel like marrying and starting a family are too important themes to simply abandon, going back to Harvest Moon as well. The portrait thing is clearly just for fun since it doesn't fully work the way you'd expect it to, and you can choose from any model in the game.

One of the things I'm hoping for in rf5 is more development on the kids, like having them able to inherit features from their mother or being able to teach them how to tend the farm (sorta like what they did in a harvest moon game with the dog)

I still didn't. I need to go back and do it but I haven't played for a few months. And now I'm wondering if I should just wait for the Switch version. But that means re-doing all the stuff I already built up, which was a lot. And Hard mode, so it wasn't a walk in the park or anything.

You know that's not true. There's always an unmarriageable bachelorette in these games like Evelyn in RF3. It's a staple trope in these games.

I'd expect little out of 4s. It's still just an upscale port with some tacked on features.
Our silver lining is that 5 is already safe even if 4s does badly and 5 is the one with the potential to break Rune Factory into a bigger market.

If it was really that important for the protagonist to have a biological child, they could just say "Yeah, magic lets you become pregnant as a man/impregnate as a woman". Or just do another timeskip and not even acknowledge it. The series has no standards as far as random magic goes anyway.

I don't agree, but even if that's the case, the large gap between RF4 and now is probably long enough for the character designer to have come up with lots of cool ideas for designs.

Rune 5. I want it so that how you interact with your kid actually shapes them. You can dress them how you want, get their haircut and colored how you want. If you take them fighting, or tending to the farm, or just neglect them, it changes their personality, which affects their dialogue and their fighting style and certain events you can get with them.
