Some guy who either devoted his life to ruining the thread, or wrote a bot that could defeat captcha. The end result was a continuous stream of posts that would quote a random post from earlier in the thread, then paste in a paragraph or two from a random wikipedia article. This completely drowned out any actual discussion, and there would be thread after thread of gibberish. I haven't checked back in a year, but he was still at it last time I checked.
