this but i don't think it will be too dystopian. basically by 2029 everyone will have a "streambox" that uses cloud-based GPU and CPUs and downloads games. that i'm okay with. the only thing i'm worried about is that games will head in the direction of music production software, ie you have to pay a yearly "fee" to play the game instead of ever owning it. the music production software people did it to further combat pirating.

The first house I lived in when I moved back only had at&t for an isp no other option. At their top speed plan the best d/u speed I could get was something like 22mb/400kb and it was like x10 than even the most basic speed in Europe.

I'm fine with streaming so long as my internet speeds can handle it. If anything I'd probably spend less on a game streaming service than buying new games. It would help with my hoarding problem as well considering I have enough games that I'll probably never play again once I finish them anyway.

The home console market is completely subsumed into the PC as it becomes cheaper and faster and endlessly expands its library.

The handheld market continues to hold on, tossing in some phone features but still clinging to some vestige of primary gaming console identity. Thanks to lolgimmicks and the inherent incompetence and greed of phone games, handhelds never truly fall. They continue to ebb and flow until something completely unforseen finally finishes them off well beyond one decade from now.
