Japan is still the worse offender when it comes to that, hell putting gacha literally everywhere is more frequent in Japan than everywhere else. As for DLCs/Season pass, both the west and the east are just as worse, you have countless example of games with long list of paid DLCs. I guess the only thing Japan has for itself now is not adding stupid political shit into their games and character design that's still somewhat appealing.

Well they do that too. Many games have extra missions that are paid DLCs. Music games have cut content and release with fewer songs to sell you packs afterwards which usually double or even triple the base price of the game. All shitty business practices are global really, companies like Konami, SQEX or Capcom are no better than EA or Ubisoft at this point. And they're all making most their cash from exploitative gacha games.
