He only actual consistent thing you notice about the soul games is that they're all games that came out when people who are currently 20-30 we're children. Filler enemies were added to the game as a placeholder of time in the game.
When you realize it in oot and mm the enemies move 1 for 1 in tandem with link and the player. For any novice who plays this game the enemies are more receptive and have the ability to fight back.
After mm NO zelda enemies do this and they all get mowed down.
THIS makes the game even less of a point when LINK can fucking upgrade all of his abilities and enemies Already don't do any shit.
For all my upgrades i got i was hoping for big bad nintendo to drop upgrades on to all the enemies but litterally 90% of the game enemies mean nothing.

World 5: A gorgeous lake with mermaids living in a giant fish bowl where you play as a fish.
World 6: A colorful jungle where you have to pass over perilous acid filled chasms as a cross between an accordion and a caterpillar
World 7: A realistic looking city with realistic proportioned humans where you control a tank. At the end you do an incredible 2d section as a throwback to the original donkey Kong.
World 8: A beach level inspired by Mario Sunshine with a copy of the fludd system.
World 9: A Bavarian style snow themed level where you race as a bouncy fat seal.
World 9.5: A fight with a fucking realistic bloodborne looking dragon.
World 10: The typical volcano level except now everything is made of food and the lava is soda? or tabby or whatever.
World 11: the typical browsers castle level... except this time it's a Japanese style fortress and you play as a woodpecker ending in an incredible boss fight.
World 12: the typical bowser fight, except then you PLAY AS BOWSER and have to run and break your way through to escape a collapsing cave while a 90s style pop song plays.

I have seen many threads about "soul". I have seen many references to Mario sunshine and only one reference to Odyssey (this thread). I use it to highlight that new games get overlooked while old ones get undue praise for "soul." Its not specifically about these two games but about the bigger issue where new games are given no credit.

Friendly reminder that soul doesn't mean old or nostalgic. Current games can have soul. The reason a lot of old games are considered soulful, is that sometimes it takes time to really appreciate the effort that went into making these games.
When you're here and now in the moment, you can be dazzled by graphics, even if the soul isn't there. Or you can be disappointed by jank, even though the soul IS there.
In many cases, it takes us time to evaluate what has soul, and what doesn't. But soul isn't limited to old games.

Sunshine has some of the best individual stages in the entire series, especially in its secret levels, even though it also has the lowest average stage quality and the worst progression system by far.
