I genuinely believe that the PS3 has one of, if not the greatest game libraries of all-time. My friend thinks I'm crazy, and claims that the N64 has the best library.

Is it really an unpopular opinion that the PS3 has a legendary catalog of games?

Attached: itonlydoeseverything.jpg (500x310, 27K)

Nah, PS3 was suck. The real best library is the entire 6th gen.

Attached: Fancy_Eggman.jpg (102x125, 2K)

youre both wrong, especially your friend. if you count all the HD ports made for the ps3 as "ps3 games" then you have a better case.

its also really hard to say anymore what has the BEST LIBRARY these days since theres hundreds of ports and backwards compatibility of older games by default on other platforms. the ps5 could have 16 games and then get discontinued, and itll still have a better libraby than the ps4 because it has the ps4 library plus 16 games.

the wii had every nintendo library up to that point, so if youre a faggot then it has the best library.

What's crazy is we're over 5 years into the PS4 lifecycle and it still feels like it hasn't properly gotten going

>n64

How do we stop boomers?

people who were 5 when the n64 came out can be classified as zoomers.

I was wondering if I was alone in that, the console gen is basically over next year

Why do you think so op? Convince me

its a far superior console to the 360 or ps3.

you just dont like video games anymore. or you dont count games that have shitty console ports on pc as games because youre a blithering retard who cant remember that video games were video games before they bought a 2000$ minecraft and discord machine.

gen7 is an absolute juggernaut. this is the best time to start and/or get back into building a ps3 library.
for about the first 2.5 years though, ps3 had no gaems

PS3 had a dogshit library just like the PS4
The N64 definitely had a better library but it was still awful

PS2 did have the best library though. It's a shame Sony isn't even a quarter based as they were during the PS2 era though.

PS2 > PS3 > PS1 > PS4 > X360 > Switch > Xbox/Gamecube > Wii > N64

SNES had the actual best library of games

Nothing beyond 6th gen had a good library

Angry cope.

Is the PS3 worth getting? I can pick one up for about $60.

Mostly agree, although I think the Wii library is better than Switch, Xbox/Gamecube, and arguably ps4

Multiplayer has become the biggest juiciest grape on the gamer tree, seems like singleplayer games are on the way out now. So we're playing more of one or two multiplayer games, and way less singleplayer games.

Definitely, there are a ton of great games on it, although a lot of have been ported to PS4 if you have it

>gen7 is an absolute juggernaut

yeah if you like unpleasant console shooters for people whose point of reference for shooting games was halo 2.

or assassins creed where people were in awe over the ability to move your character without actually inputting anything, and killing with the press of a button.

and thought they were cerebral geniuses when they turned on the "blacklight that shows me the path towards progression" button and moved to the next cutscene.

gen7 did irreparable damage to the games industry. the most significant point being that they convinced most gamers that almost all games that matter and that you should buy are made by western cucks who will wow you with an EXPERIENCE.

the rise of farcry, asscreed, cod, etc was poison. and the rotten cherry on top is that LA culture now also owns indie and "unique cerebral games". say what you will about indieshit but yume nikki is a bit more interesting than fucking dear esther was.

I don't have a PS4, just a PC that I barely play games on anymore.

It's also the most successful of the current gen, so I guess they're doing something right.

Say it ain't so, chief...

>n64 library
there were some good games, and most of them have never been ported elsewhere making it a very good library, still worth owning today, but I have a hard time calling it the best. I can name the titles worth jack shit on both hands. The rest are subjectively good or bad, but objectively good games are pretty rare on the n64.

PS3 has a lot of games that ended up getting ported to ps4 at some point, and for that reason alone it's hard to say it's library is the best. It has a lot of games from early 360 times that timed exclusivity ran out on, like eternal sonata, that are just fucking 100 times better on ps3 because they've got all the content plus more, but again, still not realy worth saying it's the best.
If you want the best, as in, good titles to shovelware ratio, it would have to be GBA.

seething incel

Then it is absolutely worth it.

>GBA has best good titles to shovelware ratio

for some reason no system ever made, not even the ps2 or the fucking wii, have as much shovelware as the gba.

even if you factor ports into your equation as quality titles, the gba in particular overflowed with rancid dogshit. it was unreal.

PS1: A
PS2: S+
PS3: B-
PS4: D

Fully expecting the PS5 to get exactly 4 exclusives in its life cycle and all of them being basically the same 5 hour long 'blockbuster'.

It's absolutely true that the market supports Sony's decisions.
There's nothing to indicate there will be any change in the current trends.
>game streaming
Maybe it will take off, there are a lot of people out there who only own a phone, so maybe they'll want to play console games with their phones. I think that will reinforce the current market positions though, not lead to a shift in dominance.

It can't be proven what the best console library is, but your friend is right that 5th gen had the best video games. PS3 is one of the worst consoles ever made. PS1 was Sony at their best.

>besides what it offers, if doesn't offer anything!
great insightful post, thanks

Attached: 7563737.jpg (512x288, 31K)

PS2 is frustrating because so many cool smaller games never got translated from Nihongo to Anglais

>N64 better library than a console with digital backwards compatibility and multiple compilation games
I think your friend is insane.

>Is it really an unpopular opinion that the PS3 has a legendary catalog of games?
I mean, it's an objectively false one. The PS3 had like two good exclusives period. It's comparable to the Atari Jaguar.

>I'm angry that you own a PC and it diminishes the value of a PS4 to you
Snoyfags lmao

>jokes on you i love eating shit

you have to be 18+ to post on Yea Forums

You claim legendary, yet list nothing.
Its a bunch of meh games that could be played better on pc or another console at this point.
The only one thats stuck there is mgs4 until emulation fixes that.

people who start to talk about consoles and say they have no games and forget to mention that they have a pc which essentially has an xbox in it already are stupid and its why no one tolerates you people outside of Yea Forums and reddit

>PS3>PS1

This is the opposite of based.

>ONLINE BAD
>SIXAXIS BAD

Attached: 4jh42j3jxau21.jpg (960x960, 91K)

>PS2: S+
PS2 was a barren wasteland for most of the generation, then around the end, it started getting JRPGs left and right. It breaks my heart that stores like K-Mart never had discounts on all the late release JRPGs, and they are probably wasting away in some crowded warehouse.

Maybe due to the being the only mainstream console of that generation that was still doing 2D graphics as its primary visuals, and being the last mainstream primarily 2D console.

>I genuinely believe that the PS3 has one of, if not the greatest game libraries of all-time.
You're retarded. The PS1 and PS2 are leagues better. Hell, I'd even take the fucking Vita over the PS3s library.
>My friend thinks I'm crazy, and claims that the N64 has the best library.
Your friend is even more retarded. The PS1 and (Japanese) Saturn libraries completely destroyed the N64.

theres like 4 games on the ps1 that are actually decent the rest were simply "cool" shit games because 3d models with an over the shoulder camera was all it took to appease mouthbreathers back then

I remember the first SIXAXIS controllers secreting some sort of oil from the thumb sticks.

Disagree big time. It has the worst library out of the sony home consoles. Best libraries are PS2, PS1, and then SNES.

Based

PS4 library is better. Stop being an old nostalgia fagging boomer.

I remember when Uncharted 2 came out and all the game review establishment were cheering it as the arrival of the killer game for PS3. Really regret that purchase.

>People that say consoles have no games because they have no games are stupid

>God Tier:
>Demo for game that never came out
>Great game
>Disappointing game
>Tetris

Wait a minute top tier is no better did I just get tricked

>did I just get tricked
yes

What are some good RPG's to pick up for the PS3?

*crickets*

The PS1/2 classics on PSN are also neat for the few standouts that didn’t get HD remasters

The PS3 was cool if you wanted the objectively worst versions of every multi-plat from that gen

Is your ps3 bc? Maybe buy some of those digital ps1 or ps2 on ps3 games?

It has the best library of all time if you had the backwards compatible early model. Exclusive-wise I think the PS3 was kinda meh

PC and are the only right answers

Agreed. 7th gen was plagued by shovel ware and ports abound,

>legendary catalog
>Demon Souls, Catherine, Sly 4, and ???

The PS3 library is as shitty as the WiiU's.

fpbp

Also, that "It only does Everything™." slogan is right, it has tons of functions that the PS4 is disappointing in comparison since it removed a lot of these extraneous functions which were great.
For example: The PS4 can easily handle PS1 and PS2 software emulation but it had zero backwards compatibility.
The PS4 is seriously gimped in features compared to the PS3.

console =/= game
I bet you think publishers make the games too

The Rareware 64 has a terrible library. 1 Mario game, 2 Zelda games(1 of them is 50/50 for some too), smash, and then the rare titles except donkey kong. That thing was ass compared to the ps1 and saturn

Weirdly enough, the PS3 port of GTA V is the best one of all consoles including the next gen ones

Pick a console, coward

PS3 library is shit.
assblasted

>2008
nah the HD era games have much more depth to their core mechanics and control than any of the HD era.

***HD>3D hurrr

You can most of the good shit on the PS3 so I'd say that claim is fair

I can't tell if this is a parody or not

SPBP

>PS3
look at this dude
>N64
oh nonono
