if you're not creative enough to make your own structure designs you can just download litematica and download .schematic files off planetminecraft
load them into the game with the mod then use it to replicate the build
it's quite comfy actually, it's like using the instruction manual for a lego set

A lava flow from a small mountain had set the forest nearby the most recently discovered one on fire and I was hoping it would spread to the mansion, but it seemed to not want to. Tried to get ray tracing to work but it crashed every time

I used to always love hoping into those RPG/exploration/vanilla servers and building these huge realms/homes/areas. They had to have building protection so people couldn't fuck with it. I remember one server I sailed out as far as I could. Created a small world. 4 different towns, each with a different feature/central piece/style. The "starting point" (where users would spawn into when they would teleport to the town) was a farm. I had set up shops in every location with different items for people to buy. Mainly common goods.

Created about 5 dungeons/PvE areas. One was a giant mountain with what looks like a small tree on top. But it was actually hollow in the center. It was a "maze" of leaf blocks. Near the back was the "witches" camp once you go through the maze. There were spider spawners for you to fight while going through the maze. Also had a undead/crypt area, "orc" camp, inside a volcano (jumping puzzle inside), and then a witches/rebel tower ontop of a snowy mountain. Spent months building it, would sell the homes I would build for players to own. Tried to create guilds by selling giant guild halls and such and trying to encourage players to create guilds through "guild quests". Also had a quest board where I would message out "Quest open". They would direct players to a dungeon to kill and retrieve an item at the end in the chest.

Sadly even though this was the most popular server at the time, nobody cared. Everyone just had their giant cube farming locations and wanted to mass pvp. People would cheat in quests by doing the lame shit that they bought with real money. People would form guilds, then never use the halls or do the quests. Most of the time the entire guild would go inactive after a day and only the leader would log on right at the end of the "inactive disband" rule I had setup. So they never lost their guild halls, despite logging on and off once a week.

I lost faith in gamer community. Its a job for most people, rather than fun/adventure

Yeah before that I would mainly just sell towns. One town I made I had pretty much the perfect location. It was along the coast with a mountain along one side, then two others space out from one another with a flat area between all three and the coast. Build a really cool fantasy town. Had a "Paladin" guild hall, alchemists, mage tower, a dark brotherhood style hidden encampment (under a ghetto district I had built OR you could go through the well in the middle of the town). Had an "heretic" area with a portal to the nether under it. A cool dock area with a boat and a big statue out in the water "protecting the harbor". Whole thing was walled off.

Had another that was just a small hamlet, but I spent a shit ton of time building the Inn. I had an "inn" phase where I would build different style Inns (Middle Eastern style, eastern style, etc).

Good memories, but I don't think I could do it now a days again. Just not enough time.
