Dayum G, look at all dat cheddah.
Aaand I'm out.
I never played Poker Night 2 because the characters seemed like such a downgrade compared to 1. Was I right to skip it?
subjectively better promo items
I never played Poker Night. Was I right to skip it?
It's weird that they didn't just use Jerry to voice Tycho. They're literally the same guy
All I got is this WINNING HAND!
>Brock Samson
>a downgrade
>In both games, the best character sat on the right end of the table
>the worst character (besides the dealer) sat in the second seat from the left
I'm more talking about Gearbox's Rabbid and Glados.
Poker Night 2 is worse in everyway (except Omaha)
If you like poker or want to learn poker, Poker Night 1 is a good place to start.
Though I don't like the Tycho voice casting, Jerry isn't a VA
>There won't be a Poker Night at the Inventory 3 on the Switch
god damn it literally the only good thing telltale ever made
>People go on about how Claptrap is annoying
>Nobody mentions how actually fucking obnoxious GLADOS is by interrupting the game constantly
Claptrap sucks, but this reeks of Yea Forums's Valve drone bias and how they could unironically love such a shit character - seriously, everytime she sticks her head in she's like the studio audience APPLAUSE sign to remind autistic Valve fans when the funny happened, it's so fucking lame. (And killer robot jokes? I'm pretty sure Futurama was more than a decade old when this was made.)
Oh and Poker Night 1 > Poker Night 2, not even up for debate. Unless you want to play Omaha poker (which is a good addition, not gonna lie), the annoying characters and dialogue that literally stops the game from progressing (claptrap, glados, even good characters like Sam do it) stops it from being good, even if Brock and Ash are well written and charming. The first games cast doesn't get in the way with annoying, stupid voices, seriously, did they even consider how annoying two robot voices with a filter could be? Poker Night 2 just feels like the louder, dumber sequel that's in love with itself
Brock, Sam and Max are all based
Ash is okay but what's the point if you can't get Bruce?
Glados is fine
Crapslap is cringe
>What is Puzzle Agent
>What is Sam and Max
>What is SBCG4AP
>People tell me how good this is for years
>Finally play it
>It has a couple of dialogues that repeat over and over and is just a basic game of Poker
After beating it and getting my TF2 items, I feel like the game was more of a marketing scheme you had to pay money for rather than a real game
Now that these games are gone, I realise there are no good poker games on Steam
>Brock, Sam and Max are all based
Max adds another character that takes time away from poker
>Ash is okay but what's the point if you can't get Bruce?
Except the impression is spot on you homosexual
>Glados is fine
No she isn't you shit taste having Valve fanboy
>Takes time away from poker
Mate, the entire point of the game is that its poker but you're playing against famous characters
If you don't like playing against the characters and just want to play poker, then just play an actual fucking poker game
>Takes the time away from poker.
The character banter is the whole point of this shit, dumbass. And it isn't like it ever stops in the middle of the flop for one of them to give monologues.
Nintendo making their own version of poker night using the backdrop of Luigi's casino in Mario 64 DS would be great
The first game does the character banter better (as you can skip it) and is a fun poker game
Poker Night 1 even lets you turn down the amount of quips on top of being able to skip them, but I didn't feel the need to just because the games pace never forces you to sit and listen like they do with Poker Night 2
The fuck is this game? Is it just poker with some random fan favorite characters from games and media? What's the appeal?
Who would be in that though? A lot of Nintendo characters don't even talk. Mario and Link just go woohoo and aaah. Not like they would be that funny anyway.
>poker with some random fan favorite characters from games and media
You answered your own question. Also TF2 items.
Outside of Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 (both on consoles), there's no good texas hold 'em poker games
>this fucking autist is STILL at it
holy fuck
Claptrap is as bad as you imagined. Ash is unfortunately kind of boring. Sam and Brock are good. Mixed bag.
>Ash is unfortunately kind of boring.
I'm sorry he didn't do le ebin violent threats like Brock
Look. His performance was just no Bruce Campbell. Can you even argue this?
Am I supposed to just not post when it's convenient for you, faggot?
Am I supposed to think he'll do the character forever?
Replacement actors for characters aren't necessarily bad (unless they are bad)
you never posting would be nice honestly
How do I learn poker from square one?
I only know how to play japanese chinese poker
His "replacement" wasn't up to the task, and it was a boring recreation. Maybe you think you're supposed to lap up everything "Evil Dead" but you can actually evaluate the efforts on display.
*pulls in chips*
Just keep folding to me.
>How do I learn poker from square one?
Unironically just playing a game like Poker Night and paying attention to what hands win.
They explain what hands mean, and if you have an ounce of logic you can probably figure out what's good, like multiple of the same card or straights.
I prefer this interp than how the show kinda made him seem pathetic.
Mario could talk it's a spin-off. I'd like Falco and Wario play each other.
The most recent show? I haven't actually seen that. Some self-depreciation humor is pretty par for Bruce Campbell stuff though. It's hard for an aging guy to unflinchingly forever be the badass I suppose.
Well that stuff's really only the surface, isn't it? I already know the hands and what beats what, I just have no clue when to push and fold and how to bet against people.
Luck is how you win in all scenarios. But I mean, if you want to get into the nitty gritty of odds of completing a hand, good luck. That's more involvement than I care about. I just bought the game to unlock some TF2 items.
But I'm not sure what you'd want from an Ash playing poker
That's all player preference and at that point we're talking about how you know how to bluff which should be on you
Like if you have two kings, it might be time to raise, but if you notice there's a strong suit or a possibility for a straight, you might need to fold (but at the same time you might not, it's a bit of luck and guessing)
>Tycho
>The best
>Strong Bad
>The worst
That's some powerfully shit taste.
>Wario
>Doc Louis
>Falco
>Daisy
>Gary Oak
>Characters like Funky Kong, Inkling, Game and Watch are periodically in the background doing shit
>But I'm not sure what you'd want from an Ash playing poker
Charm? Charisma? Witty references? Something that feels authentic? Honestly, they just missed the mark on all accounts. Maybe it's because he didn't bounce off anybody there particularly well.
I'd rather have a table of Claptraps than have Tycho anywhere around. I'm just glad Strong Bad and Heavy used him as the verbal punching bag.
Yeah that guy is wrong - Strongbad is 10/10 and the fact that Claptrap is in his seat is an actual unironic insult
>The impression was spot on
How the fuck did Telltale always manage to find good impressionists, the guy they found for Marty McFly in their BttF game was a dead ringer too.
>This post again
>than have Tycho anywhere around.
Stop being a self hating nerd, he's fine - unlike Claptrap
Ash should have been the tough guy, but Brock supercedes the tough guy needs immeasurably
>I'd rather have a table of Claptraps than have Tycho anywhere around.
You can't mean that. You can't possibly actually mean that.
penny arcade blows cock
Who are the best characters and why are they Sam And Max?
Yeah. Having Brock and Ash at the same table was a clear mistake.
>says nothing funny
>has actually competent AI
why did they do this
They're just so damned lovable.
Strong Bad == Sam and Max > Heavy > Brock > Ash > Glados > Tycho > Claptrap
These are the official power rankings.
The time I've spent with Borderlands has helped deal with him, and suffering through TPS playing as him makes most of his dialogue flow in one ear and out the other for me.
Tycho had very few redeeming qualities, I only wanted him to open his mouth so Strong Bad could insult him.
>strong bad
>sam and max
Fitting that they're the best, as they also had the best telltale games.
>Glados > Tycho
Valve fags please fuck off
Her cadence absolutely ruins 2 (not to mention how unfunny she is)
Tycho's interactions with Heavy were really awkward when it wasn't just him asking Heavy a question. Heavy carried the hell out of those scenes. Strong Bad shitting on him and Max basically sandbagging everything he said was good though. The only halfway-interesting thing he contributed was his weird bestiality fetish lines just because of how out-of-left-field they come from and how disgusted the rest of the table is by them.
Heavy is such a fucking joy in that game though. Every time he gets to just monologue or talk about his personal life is 10/10.
>That story about torturing and killing a BLU Engineer with graphic detail about how his screams for his mother were muffled by his own disembodied fingers shoved down his throat
>"Is this not the funniest thing?"
unironically, play poker night in the inventory to learn the mechanics of the game. after you've got a hang of it, watch poker games online, watch poker strategy videos, read articles and play against other people.
She was better in Portal 1 for sure, it was a tough call between them but Tycho is just a tad unfunnier imo.
sometimes I still fire it up to try for a straight flush for the 100%
The only redeeming thing about Claptrap is that all the other characters hate him as much as you. He's the designated shitter at the table nobody likes.
Except how Sam randomly wants an action figure of Claptrap
Poker Night 2 is so sloppily written
bump
In Strong Bad's case it's relative
Tycho > Heavy = Max > Strong Bad
>no Poker Night 3
goddammit Telltale, you had all these nice IPs and threw it all away somehow
I never played Poker Night 2 specifically because it had this fucker in it.
