Spongebob has gone so long under a different staff that it's sort of mutated into self-parody with extreme flanderization of its characters.
I won't say that you have to watch episodes past Season 3, but I did enjoy a fair bunch, being a mega Sponge autist. To name a few:

I like how they look a lot more expressive with the animations, but on the other hand sometimes they can look a bit too expressive to where it's just weird to look at.

I think nu-Spongebob's problem is that it doesn't fucking stop for a second to let shit sink in. It's just one extremely exaggerated facial expression after another. Plus, the comedy is mostly Ren and Stimpy-tier slapstick, which can work sometimes, but is far too rapid to be enjoyable.

I only ever played the GBA version of the game, so I actually look forward to the remake.
The live action bits look like they'll be fun in the cheesiest of ways, can't say for sure about the rest.

The special looks fine (Hasslehoff and BASED Kel are cool to have) but some of the visual gags in the trailer and the preview suck.

Yes, but how does that affect a game that came out during the classic era? The remake by all accounts looks completely faithful as well, so nu-Spongebob won't get in there. In fact, it will probably get as many actual VAs as possible, whereas the original didn't have the actual Mr. Krabs and such.

there's several reasons why they'd keep the original voices for DAH, the first being the voices are iconic to the roles and if they cant get the actors, they're fucked

the second is that DAH is one of those strange games from the original xbox era that have a strange tone, like Stubbz the zombie that updating the voices, wont recapture it as well.

Spongebob though would do well to get the original VAs if possible and reuse when they can't

The reveal seemed pretty adamant about staying faithful to the original, and the new content is either confirmed cut material from the original development or a simple multiplayer mode. Unless they add a brand new level that has noticeably worse writing I don't see how it will be fucked up, especially if they bring in more of the original VAs that the original game.

It's may be average, but some people kinda like their collectathon games that even if this game was average, it was fun while I emulated it.
