Sleeper hit of the year?
Sleeper hit of the year?
It's pretty neat
I expected it to be mediocre like 6, but was pleasantly surprised. I am now re-hyped for Shin. They did a good job of showing Tojo slowly losing their control of Kamurocho. Should connect to Shin nicely.
Oh, a cat.
YAGAMI!
Isnt this just a more serious Yakuza?
No, but it's close. It's a spin-off where you play a detective. It's also got a good writer this time.
>
WHO DARES INTERRUPT MY FEAST?!
It's fun as fuck. Love the combat way more than zero. I'm a filthy secondary and that's the only other one I played.
It's just Yakuza.
Millions people die in the main story but you're busy catching panties thieves on side quests.
No it's Yagami.
>I'm a filthy secondary and that's the only other one I played.
You did good, that's probably the best way to experience it.
just finished it 9/10 for sure. fantastic ending, and the final fight was pretty fucking great
How could they get away with this?
definitely, i hope we wind up getting a judgement 2 somewhere down the line
There's an absolute ton of shit like that in all the other side quests too.
he will probably just appear in the new yakuza game, although judgement 2 would be great
FUCK PUYO PUYO REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
these japanese board/card games are impossible for a stupid gaijin like myself. koi koi makes no sense to me
I hate nip culture so fucking much, but I love their games. I wish we had games to export that those slant eyed fuckers wouldn’t understand, but they still eat it up. Like a game that required deep understanding of school shooting drills, tipping culture, clapping etiquette, and football if they want the platinum.
love it
kek
Yakuza games must be the most fun games to localize despite how difficult it can be.
Sega/Atlus's translation team is pretty funny at times.
so is the game actually good?
when the game came out, i generally saw people say the game was trying to be different but ultimately kept trying to just be a yakuza game.
>people say the game was trying to be different
they lied
This game is yakuza with detective flavoring, not that it's a bad thing. I find Judgement's combat to be the most fun and engaging yet, though.
It's basically Yakuza Noire.
I don’t know why so many people have said that, because it’s so fucking wrong. One smaller streamer I occasionally watch kept saying “don’t go in expecting a Yakuza game,” and I have no idea what he’s talking about. It’s Yakuza, through and through. In fact, the game is at its worst in the parts where it’s trying to be its own detective game (tailing, lock picking, searching for clues, etc).
tailing is the only annoying part
locking-picking and clues are fine
>watching streamers
They’re not fun, they’re not even challenging, and they only serve to interrupt what little flow the game has. Grind out some moonbucks for a few hours, and tell me how much you enjoy those thumb-turn bypasses.
>fun
Subjective. I like the lock picking.
I don't think they're particularly fun, but they're quick as fuck. Not much is sacrificed to make you pick a lock. Unlike tailing missions.
I doubt they'll pay for the actor's voice/likeness just for a cameo.
Pay attention to the backgrounds of the cards. That determines what will match with what. Aim for the red moon, the purple star flower, the red rose, and the red/yellow spiky flower. Also try to get the emperor or the bird in the pond if you want but they're for more specific hands.
The only other thing you really need to know is the AI will counter-pick you if you're trying to aim for certain things. So, for example, let's say you place a hill (To get a red moon off of a draw) the AI will most likely also have a hill and counter-pick your hill so you don't get it even if the next draw isn't the moon.
Oicho-Kabu is just baccarat with a cheating AI. The only goal is to get as close to 9. If you go past 9 it wraps around (So if you have 2 5 8 that means your card total is 5). There's also some specific hands like all of the same number or really specific stuff like 119 and certain banker-specific hands, but you can just look those up as they're not as important.
My point was that they’re not good. Nothing gamebreaking (although tailing is really fucking bad), but the game is at its best when it sticks to the Yakuza formula. Thankfully, that’s 90% of the game.
I've come across much worse lock-picking minigames.
No lockpicking minigame can ever be good, in this game it's just there to add Detective game flavor, and it serves that purpose without taking any large amount of game time.
I actually don't mind the tailing.
The friendships as well.
The only time the lockpicking or bypassing gets annoying is in the VR Salon and that's only because you're timed. Outside of that you rarely see either of them at all so it's not like they're an issue at that point, they fit the flow of the game during those moments.
I don't mind it when the tailing target actually does something exciting, as opposed to just an extra slow stroll of kamurocho
Is Judgment the videogame equivalent of the Ghost Stories dub?
In side quests, you could say that.
Main quest line isn't nearly as goofy as the screenshots would lead you to believe. Those are mostly side cases and friend events.
The reversible cover is pretty neat.
Version 1.07 just came out.
Only in the side content. The main story plays it straight and the only moments of levity are when Yagami jokes around with Kaito or the forced side cases to give you money. Besides that it takes itself pretty seriously. The side content on the other hand loves to do ridiculous stuff, befriending an American who believes he's a ninja that trained in an American university to be a ninja, chasing a hat around Kamurocho for a guy, a guy falling in love because of a woman liking his blogging about stray cats, pairing two people working together so they end up dating, the Ass Catchem thing, the perverted man in the Champion District, etc.
>final tailing mission
>"oh gee, the lab is in danger! i better hurry"
>guy proceeds to go around the same block three times
From what I could tell you get 5 Top Shelf Screws, 1 High-grade Plastic, 1 High-end Wire, and a Master Frame Blueprins. There might be more but that's what I noticed in my inventory that's new.
>reversible cover
Well, I'm sold.
>It's also got a good writer this time.
What the fuck? This is possibly the worst written Yak game yet.
>Farts off to Kamuro Hills twice, gets stuck on the stairs multiple times, and then starts running on the final stretch.
>If you run full speed he turns around.
Easily the worst tailing mission in the game.
You know that like 80% of PS4 games have reversible covers, right?
Did they? I thought it was the same series writer from before.
Nothing can top 3-5 in their ridiculousness.
>Nothing can top 3-5 in their ridiculousness.
Ridiculous is one thing. A guy that is supposedly an amazing lawyer and detective being shown acting like an absolute brainlet at every turn is something else. I've never been one to yell at the screen before but this game broke me.
Elaborate
Genuinely good action comedy tv show. The mole fights were ridiculous. It's just a VN-movie though, so I don't see a reason to buy it. It's youtube-core.
How much content density is there? I can get the game for $47 but I'm tight on spending money because of all the vidya coming out, and I dunno if I should wait on a drop.
On that note, is FotNS Lost Paradise worth $40? I completely skipped on it unintentionally
I don't have a PS4 but I bought a physical copy to support physical copies
wait for a drop i'd say.
also FoTNS isn't too great, so you should try find it for cheap.
This game looks like one of those 3d porn games made in Unity. Why do you gookphile weebs eat this shit up? I will never understand.
>only Kamurocho
This is stopping me from buying it at full price
5 had 5 open areas, it has been less and less since then, because they know players don't care
thanks for the spoiler, shitposter
I'm trying to think of things Yagami didn't pick up on and I'm drawing a blank here. Kuroiwa isn't exactly someone you would place as the Mole and even at endgame the explanation for him is pretty nuts, the Okubo case is suspicious but Yagami already gave him the benefit of the doubt and was betrayed so he didn't think clearly on the second part (Plus why would someone frame him twice when you don't have knowledge of what happened at endgame?), it took a ridiculous amount of effort to get to Hamura in the first place and it took an even bigger amount of effort to actually find the people he knows, and it's not like they could have done anything about Shono or Kido outside of what they did. Yagami didn't even have any evidence of anything for the majority of the game.
Honestly, the only dumb thing I thought he did was mess with Shintani's phone after the body fell out of his dresser considering that would be considered tampering with evidence and place further suspicion on you.
>How much content density is there?
Main story is about 20ish hours if you rush it (Took me 24 on Hard ignoring everything else in the game). There's 50 side cases (Substories), 50 friendships, 4 girlfriends, and a partridge in a pear tree. Bosses are reused several times though there's usually two fights per chapter, there's about three or four total gauntlets in the main story, the new minigames aren't too long and the 100% requirements aren't too bad barring Puyo Puyo. There's enough content to justify the money but if you want to wait $40's definitely appropriate.
Don't spend more than $40 for FotNS, try to get it for cheaper if you can. A lot of the content is just so-so and overall the game's pretty average, but it has good gameplay and boss fights.
>muh graficks
who cares have sex
honestly, kiryu's city was the only decent new city in 5
the others were beyond shit
>open a youtube link for a game you haven't finished
>wtf why am I spoiled?
No shit you fight the game's villain.
do you think before you type stuff out?
Hunting village was fun
There are several times where misinterprets a clue as evidence. He then goes to the person implicated and lays everything out to them, not realizing that he has just given up the initiative and can no longer search for actual admissible evidence unhindered. I'm not sure why he does this. I can't fathom he's expecting a confession out of people that are implicated in murders.
Then there's the fact that it took at least 4 chapters and the wisdom of his meathead partner and some punk kid he just met to realize that the very people he's been trying to pin shit on had one hell of a motive to frame Okubo for Emi's murder.
They could have told the same story without needing to make Yagami seem like an idiot.
shinada's was cooler. also saejima's wasn't that bad, the snow and christmas lights made it stand out.
didn't need to open it
auto-embedded
fuck you
yeah that was cute
Turn it off, nerd boy.
Shinada's was fine outside of that pretty empty right half past the park. Only like one substory even takes place there, it's basically pointless to have. It gave off that nice seedy small town vibe. Tsukimino was pretty lame though, totally agreed. It's basically just a really long street with dead ends, and the encounter placements were by far some of the worst.
Keep in mind when he antagonizes Shono he's doing it because he hoped he would drop some more information and he still wasn't 100% sure it was him yet. They didn't even know about the secret lab or anything by that point and Shono was literally his only lead on anything. Hell, everything he said to him was basically a conspiracy theory with no verifiable evidence outside of hearsay.
Also keep in mind that he was missing the forest for the trees during that segment. Hell, he was still convinced Okubo had committed the murder and didn't even factor it into his train of thought because he basically wrote Okubo off.
Yagami was definitely not in the right mindset to think about the Okubo case during a lot of points in the game and even when he visits Okubo and apologizes he tells him this straight up.
what will itchybum's styles be?
i'm thinking a thuggish style that works similarly to kiryu's dragon engine style, and maybe a slugger inspired style since that april fools joke had him using a bat.
I want him to be Tetsuya.
i don't think the chef had any fighting styles
Fully expecting a red style that works off of the basis Tiger sets down but with far more Akiyama put into it (Meaning way more kicks) and far more unrefined. Yagami clearly has a handle and mastery of what his Tiger style is while I'm thinking Ichiban would be more reckless with it.
Who knows past that though I'd like to see some sort of green style but I'm not sure what kind of attacks that would consist of. It's just one of those auras we haven't really seen outside of bosses.
>Want to keep talking about this game
>spoilers are coming out and i've been taking the game slowly
abandoning ship
Stay strong, it will be worth it in the end.
LMAO
Tatsuya*
I always fuck that up.
doubt the story is anything special with it being a Jap game
Yakuza games are the exception.
a green style would work well, since it would stand out more due to him having a red suit.
i really hope he has short end animations like kiryu, since yagami's styles can feel slow because of the finisher speed.
no way. Nagasugai's tiny and barebones unlike Shinada's city
Gotta disagree with you there. Nagasugai was decently sized but felt big, and not only did it have several minigames to do but you had cars driving around all over the place and you had that really long street with all the hosts fighting you on. The outer border of it was also pretty neat to run around.
Shinada's city was small on the left half and only half of the right half amounted to anything, it always felt very cramped, and it was mostly small blocks linked together so it wasn't as interesting to run around outside of the park. The baseball area with the overpass was alright I guess but the lower half of the left side was pretty forgettable.
>same quests
>same gameplay
>same location
>same leveling up system
>same minigames
>but it has a slightly different story so 10 copies please Sega!
you negros are pathetic
what happens when cops arrive during a fight
what else has came out recently that's worth playing? bloodstained? mario maker? all shit judgement is just the least shit.
>ugly chink with animehair on box
>hit
You should hit up that dilation station
>same quests
Already wrong.
Thanks for stopping by.
basically the same
>talk to person
>go to find another person
>beat someone up
>return to first person
>quest complete
99% of quests
The fight just ends and you don't get SP for it. Can't remember if they take some money too or not, but the fight has to last like two minutes or so for them to even begin to arrive.
omg bros this beat em up game features a lot of beating people up wtf guys i want my money back
can you change time of day on the fly?
Near endgame they let you, you just go to the couch and sleep on it. Can't remember if it's only in the final chapter or also in the one or two before it as well. Premium Adventure also lets you do it of course. The final mission even has a "Go speak to this person (Daytime)" thing on top of them telling you if you talk to the person the endgame begins.
There's a chance for a cute female cop to arrest you sometimes instead of the normal cops, but getting arrested enough times to get one to show up is too tedious.
oh I thought you could do it during the entire game in this
The tutorial message is misleading, in the main story the only time I personally noticed I could do it was within the final chapter or two.
I am enjoying it. I love how they mix Yakuza gameplay with LA Noire, and Phoenix Wright and turned out great.
I'd be down for Judgment 2 and hope some characters from Yakuza show up in the sequel either as cameos or play specific roles in the story. Kiryu teaming up with Yagami would be awesome.
Kino
>Kiryu teaming up with Yagami would be awesome.
Not possible unless Kiryu just ends up being some random nameless bum who teams up with you wandering the streets and only in some random Side Case, it wouldn't happen in the main story. Date, Tanimura, and Akiyama are the ones that make the most sense running into him.
Anyone else bothered by Yamagi's design? I don't know why but I think he is cringy as fuck, literally did not buy this one because of that.
Can I play this game if I haven't played a Yakuza game? Is it a good place to start with the series?
doesn't matter
It's basically a new IP set in the same universe, so yes to both questions. The references to the mainline games are incredibly minor like a baseball player standing around in a jersey from Yakuza 6 or some random offhand jokes referencing older games.
>tfw finished it yesterday
>that finale
I didn't want to get off this ride
Judgement actually sold alright in Japan despite the series generally selling less and less with each new game for ages now over there, I reckon they'll try to milk it. After Ichiban's game we'll probably get Judgement 2, and then go back to Ichiban and vice versa.
>reversed cover Has no console branding, makes it stick out awkwardly on a shelf
>the western cover is surprisingly better anyway
Saejima's was nice to look at, the amount of arbitrary invisible walls everywhere in it was ridiculous though
With the re-release of 3 with a new actor, do you reckon we'll see more of him in the series or will he remain this weird Chirs Benoit-esqe character who's never mentioned (I think the only time he's mentioned outside of 4 is the Amon battle in 5)
He's mentioned in Dead Souls as well during Ryuji's segment by a kid in Little Asia.
I feel like we might see him again considering they have a new actor and VA which they seemed to take pride in with 4 HD's release. It would make total sense to see him in a Judgment game and he still fits the world. Hell, even seeing him in Shin would probably make sense. Plus he could explain how he feels about Little Asia changing so much or you could go on a substory to help him out there. Then again, this is the series that pretends Tatsuya, Kaoru, Nakahara, and Mikio don't exist so who knows what's going through their heads.
how2gitgud@droneRace?
Drone races are easy though? What are you having trouble with, your reflexes?
I can't it it up.
He's mentioned in Y5's Amon battle as well, albeit off-handedly
>Amon: Hey you're missing one of your guys
>Kiryu: Have you heard from Tanimura, Akiyama?
>Akiyama: I tried calling him but he wouldn't pick up, maybe he's laying low?
>Kiryu: He's a smart kid, I'm sure he's fine. Anyway Amon, we've brought this guy in his place today.
>Shinada: DUDE BASEBALL LMAO
>Amon: uhh ok
The conversation was basically something like that IIRC
The guy mentioned the Amon battle which is why I didn't say anything about it. That part was great though. Shinada losing his mind that he's going to have to fight a hitman when his only fighting experience is a bit of street fighting is hilarious. It's even funnier when Saejima is up to plate and Shinada is panicking asking him how he can get away before Saejima tells him to buckle up.
>this apparently was completely fine according to sony
so they just hate pretty women at this point, right?
*ruins your fun in the second half*
wat
Kiwami 2 came out at the peak when they were censoring every new japanese game release at a fast pace and that game was full of live action titty
Ugly women are among the most hate-filled and jealous animals in the galaxy. Beware when they get into a position of power.
Post your Saori's
just stupid looking anime cow tiddies
she looks like she fucks old fat bald men for money
I’ve never done NG+ on a Yakuza, I always feel done at the end of the game, but Judgment has me hooked. I’m on Chapter 9 but still going strong. I doubt I’ll platinum, but I think I’ll try getting the trophy for legend difficulty. What all carries over for NG+?
Eh, it's like Yakuza except not as good.
Why are you talking shit about best girl doing undercover work?
>except not as good
Elaborate further.
Everything but Side Cases, friendships, and certain key items. I think some disguises go too.
Do you know if my free pass voucher will carry over? Or should I stock up on some yen before starting? I’m guessing the VR difficulty goes up as well, so farming could actually get dicey?
>the title judge eyes suddenly makes a lot more sense at the end
based
That I'm not entirely sure of. VR difficulty does go up, when I was on Challenge Easy doing the sword challenge I got killed in two pistol shots with tier 2 health just as a very quick example (One shot did 60% of my health in mortal damage and dropped me to half of the bar I had left). Regular fights and Honda fights get very dicey as well, I'm taking chunks of health from virtually any attack, Honda deals some hefty damage with his regular punches (Like maybe a seventh of my health a hit). You'll have an easier time since you have endgame stuff, but I'm doing it from a clean save so I'm not as bulked up. The damage isn't as bad as Ishin can get but it's up there.
the main character looks like a tool
is there anyway to change his looks ? hair ? outfit ?
No, and it sucks. Yagami’s such a cool protagonist, but he dresses like a fucking fag. Only thing that’s good is the way his jacket moves when sprinting.
I wouldn't mind Kamurocho so much if they gave us more shit to do. Like double the amount of buildings to enter and double the amount of minigames, that much would satisfy pretty much everyone I think.
Judgement's story is nice, but the game as a whole feels so lackluster and empty. Hopefully they knock it out of the park with Shin.
seething incels
Yagami >>>>>>> Kiryu and his NANI?!? x1000
wtf.
well ill get it if it comes to PC and modders fix this.
there is no way im going to paly taht fuccboi looking idiot
>but the game as a whole feels so lackluster and empty

>Sleeper
Couldn't have said it better
>reversed cover Has no console branding, makes it stick out awkwardly on a shelf
it looks like empty box
kenshiro game dont have this problem...
The good porn games or the bad ones?
Waiting for 6 and this on PC. Actually I bought 6 on PS4 but the framerate is fucking garbage.
epic
simply epic
They did do that with this game though. There's tons of new restaurants and buildings you can enter, several new minigame areas, several random alleyways or ones that have become used now compared to 6 and K2, and you go to several new areas for gauntlets. I'm with you that it would be great if there could be more though, always fun to see new changes to the city. Agree on the minigames though, there's some good new ones but I'd like them to bring us back to at least the regular amount we had before considering they cut two gambling games from western and Japanese styles, not to mention karaoke.
>there is no way im going to paly taht fuccboi looking idiot
Yakuza-esque Man please.
stop replying to shitposters Moose
they all look the same with that weird ass lighting
wait the devs acknowledge it themselves ?
why not make a cooler looking main character then...
this smells like marketing department forcing them to appel to the current retard demographic. this is how evry turk runs around here in goimany. yikes.
go back you brainwashed monkey
why the fuck did they make the sensitivity so fucking high for baseball
>you
His personality is mostly fine. But he's a guy in his mid-30s (?) wearing super-skinny jeans and 'I am so rebellious and street' leather jacket.
It's Japan.
Look at Nomura. He's a fucking 50 year old teenager.
they should've left the name
>le epic wojak meme xddd
go back
>darts in the new engine
:)
>darts in the old engine
:(
lel
How’s the OST?
It's more on the forgettable side. Occasionally you get a good fight theme and some of the boss fight themes are good, but overall there's just nothing really memorable that stands out.
It's good, but nothing amazing. Also, the music is pretty soft.
Is it on the shitty 15fps Dragon Engine or the based one they used on 0? Is the combat still outrageously over-the-top or did they tune it down?
>exact same map for 8 games
It's literally ok when Japan does it
Why would it be on the old engine, brainlet?
>tune
tone*, and no it's much better than in 6 & K2
implying you can't be creative from a fundamental level.
>beat 'em up in a sandbox
>exact same map for 8 games
Has there ever been a game series like that at all?
KimuTaku is so hot
The old engine is objectively better, since apparently we don't have the technology to properly utilize the new one without sub-30 fps.
blackjack is always so fucking rigged in these games
I get 60fps in K2 on my PC.
Sounds like a (You) problem.

You may as well fold because the one underneath is 90% of the time going to be a 10.
