What was THE most disappointing game of the 2010s?

wow so disappointing
Zachary Lewis
mass effect 3
Hudson Watson
The correct answer is mass effect 2, after it I had no hope for 3
Luis Roberts
tropico 5.
Dylan Jenkins
Sorry you couldnt see the writing on the wall
Lucas White
Adrian Moore
Resident Evil 6.
Ayden Baker
MGS:V
Dark Souls 2/3
Skyrim
All the reboots from Tomb Raider to Hitman
Far Cry 3 onwards
Assassin's Creed post Ezio
Dragon Age 2 onwards
It would be easier to name what turned out to be good.
Aaron James
No way, was still a blast to play. Best playing MGS game.
Easton Campbell
>he bought Skyrim with guns
Landon Russell
Cope harder drone.
Robert Cox
MGSV, hands down.
Blake Peterson
for a couple hours, and then the entire game becomes repetitive and trivial
Camden Rogers
This. I was 16 and the whole two years leading up to that game I was glued to every single piece of information and every trailer Kojima put out. I still have a folder of MGSV hype memes on my desktop. It’s been four years since I completely lost faith in the games industry.
Carter Richardson
oh yeah I love running around that bland open-world and infiltrating the same base 50 times
Jayden Watson
According to the vidya press FO76 is, their narrative is that people were actually excited for FO76 when it got announced and became disappointed when the beta launched. I don't buy that though, the view I saw everywhere about the game was people thinking it was shit from E3 on-wards.
Henry Allen
People were shitting on it before E3 even.
Henry Reyes
It's really baffling how they could fuck up the series even more... yet here it is.
Brody Torres
It's baffling considering how good 2 was. Reminds me a lot of Saints Row actually.
Austin Cook
i didnt even know just cause 3 existed
Brandon Morris
Why are 3 and 4 bad?
Gabriel Jones
part of me really wants the indoctrination theory to be real but it can't have been the creators original intentions
shepherds eyes are indoctrinated in 2 of the 3 choice endings
Xavier Hernandez
>wasnt even alive when mgs1 came out
>probably didnt even hear about the series til mid 2000's at the very earliest
You have no idea what loss is my friend but atleast you have good taste
Aaron Price
>shit engine
>shit city
>shit adult swim humor
>ruined characters
>awful gangs
>less customisation
>in 4 superpowers make vehicles moot
Elijah Bailey
Far Cry 5 was good though
Jaxon Long
If indoctrination theory was correct, it would no joke be the greatest vidya ending of all time. Fucking Einstein level ending and I wouldn’t be mad about the three colors
Angel Wright
Let's be honest: was 2 actually that good, or was it "Hey, this is a pretty fun game for $2.50!" good?
Elijah Roberts
John Green
Levi Flores
Fallout 4 was good fallout 76 most disappointing
Cooper Murphy
Who expected Fallout 4 to be good lmao.
>most disappointing game of the decade
Skyward Sword, OtherM, Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls 2, Fire Emblem IF, Thief reboot, Pokemon as a series, Hotline Miami 2, and Final Fantasy VSXIII
Hitman was good enough and a massive improvement on Absolution.
Lincoln Sanchez
I thought 3 was okay, just wasn't a big fan of the challenges or constant online that lead to longer loading times.
4 reamed it up the ass by plastering rings everywhere so you had to do them to complete locations, rather than blow stuff up. Didn't help that the graphical glitches made the game look ugly and the first handful of missions your greeted to are "hop on the vehicle while the shitty AI drives." The rings were the thing that made me refund it though, wasn't even organized challenges like 3... fuck that shit.
Jaxson Collins
One bad game being worse than another bad game doesn't make either game any better or worse, 4 was more disappointing than 76 because people actually had hope for 4, from the moment 76 was announced proper it was a complete and utter laughing stock and an obvious excuse for Bethesda to milk more money out of gullible saps.
Ian Barnes
theres so much evidence hinting at it like shepards eyes being indoctrinated. If you told me that it was a plot point in some of the original endings that got scrapped I wouldn't even be suprised
like anderson gets shot but you're the one bleeding from a stomach gunshot wound.
Kevin Nguyen
Indoctrination theory has been the worst case of COPE I've seen in the last decade or so of gaming, ME3 was a complete and utter disaster, 2 was actually supremely flawed too and a big step down in quality from ME1, from an RPG perspective.
Sebastian Bell
Zero Time Dilemma
MGSV
Matthew Thompson
>Fallout 4 was good
ahhh summer
Evan Gonzalez
The fact so much of nu-Yea Forums adores ME2 is probably a sign I should have left this site like a decade ago at this point. ME2 was barely an RPG and yet it got lauded as one of the best in the genre, I'm glad the nonsense hype has died down since then and people can now see it for the shallow rooty, tooty point and shooty trash it always was.
Joshua Scott
All they do is pallet swap the location tho its still the same buggy unpolished combat from 2010
Bentley Bennett
Yeah but I liked the Montana setting the most out of any of them and the Seed family were cool antagonists
Jason Bailey
>disappointing
>2010's
I'm incapable of being disappointed these days. Last one was probably Dragon Age 2.
Christopher Anderson
Mass effect 2 was a solid game, but an RPG it was not. More a shooter that you level up. Even mass effect 1 was barely an RPG, but the weapon system at least kept it interesting progression wise
Joseph Rivera
Yeah there’s a whole documentary on every single part of the ending that’s consistent with indoctrination. Even the track playing in the background is titled “Wake up”
If it’s false, I can’t explain how Shepard wakes up in concrete rubble.
Adam Gomez
I wasn't personally part of the MGSV hype train, but I could so why people were disappointed. You were supposed to have decades of lore being tied together, but instead you got more weird Kojimbo shit and an ocean of unnecessary loose ends.
Bethesda, on the other hand, had been very consistent in their games getting progressively shittier over time, so you only have yourself to blame if you thought F4 was going to be good.
Jordan Adams
you wish you could be a critic lol
Alexander Rogers
Dark Souls 2 is up there.
Anthony Parker
I think one of the weirder parts is that the starchild slips up and says "us" when referring to the reapers, implying he was a reaper in the original ending
Liam Cook
overwatch and its not even close
Caleb Fisher
>Fallout 4
>Skyoshock
The latter one still hurts to this day. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so cheated ever since, and it honestly foreshadowed where the game industry as a whole was going. Fuck you Ken Levine.
John Perry
If by disappointment you mean didn't live up to the hype and expectations, there is nothing worse than Mass Effect 3, shit disappointed on every level from combat to role play, world building, the fucking graphics and art direction, the god damn endings, it is the definition of a ruined orgasm.
Next up is FO4, fetch quest galore, all the features that were supposed to make a comeback removed, all the definitive RPG elements that were in 3 and the ones Obsidion introduced in NV gone, voiced protag because Todd thought it was cool, baby's first dialogue system that the game could've been with it removed completely, buggy and slow af on release and still is, and Bethesda still has the gall to milk it dry with shitty Creation club content that the modders are offering better and for free.
A close third would be DaS2, I mean I love SotFS and still think it's a 9/10, but by god that game was such a fucking mess on release and such a let down, coming from DaS, not to mention the gutted lighting system.
Zachary Ramirez
Fallout 3 was passable and NV was a major step up. People thought that, at worst, we’d getting another fallout 3, and at best, BGS would take notes from Obsidian
Instead we got a literal pile of shit
Michael Perez
Most people with a functioning brain saw it coming a mile away but Fallout 76 disappointed a lot of people. I actually see casuals shit talking Bethesda! I never though I'd see people actually rake those lazy greedy fucks over hot coals. All because of a half assed attempt at chasing a trend that fell out of vogue months ago.
Mason Campbell
Just Cause 2 was such a great game. I disagree with the hate for 3, though. I'm playing it now. It's quite a departure from 2 but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Plus, it's so much fun to glide over the towns and countryside with the wingsuit.
What they do have in common is that you have a ton of stuff to do. Also, I like the islands better in 3.
However, how did Rico end up being Italian? I have no problem with but it's weird. He doesn't have an Italian accent; he has a Spanish accent.
Ayden Gray
It's too bad Konami didn't hop on the BR train when they were primed to take it oh well at least they're selling office furniture now.
Brayden Ortiz
Bioshock infinity

I remember the hype. Then I played the game when it first came out first thing I noticed, voiced protagonist, gutted the dialogue system, then came the settlements then came the repetitive radiant quests.. what a fucking disaster

Yakuza 6 for me on a personal level.

>no Colosseum
>barely any minigames (but the few are damn good)
>lowest amount of submissions
>100% completion is gone. It's now a check-list
>unlocking Amon doesn't require a 100% completion anymore. Just finish all submissions
>performance issues up the ass
>trainers are gone
>literal who antagonist
I still liked it, but it was the second worst yakuza I've played, and I own and 100%'d all of them including spin-offs
Colton Foster
that looked like ass from the versus days get some taste
Landon Clark
>100%'d all of them including spin-offs
I'm sorry for your autism.
Evan Russell
People made fun of the hover hand before. Now it's a necessity, especially in Hollowood.
How sad.
Eli Watson
you don't finish your games?
Ethan Anderson
>best writing
>2nd worst
Robert Edwards
100% =/= finishing a game
Jaxson Bailey
hell even narratively, A million Reapers wake from slumber. And now we’re right back where we started at the end of Mass Effect 1: The Reapers might be coming, we don’t know when they will strike, we don’t know how they’ll reach us, and we don’t know how to stop them. We have a team that might be all dead and a base that might have been blown up...great worldbuilding and character pieces, but ultimately didn't serve the larger narrative
Jace Hill
0 has the best writing because it used a script from Y1 and Y2 and made a prequel out of it. Basically a fluke
6 wasn't as bizarre as 4 and 5 but it was just nothing interesting. The music's one of the best in the series, I'll give it that
Food analogy time. Are you the kind of retard that eats chicken but never finishes it to the bone?
Zachary Cruz
It was a pretty awful prequel that focused more on Majima than it did Kiryu. Judgment has a far better story.
Connor Gonzalez
Finishing a game like Yakuza is eating the chicken. 100%'ing Yakuza is eating the bone.
Joseph Cox
I don't think he's talking about Platinum, just the game's own 100% requirements.
Blake Garcia
mario odyssey
John Hughes
>second worst yakuza
damn that's harsh
post tier list pls
Isaiah Powell
Oh now you're just being a faggot
The game gives you more content if you do it 100% and many of them even gives you a damn good end-game boss. Come on now
nah I'm talking about 100%ing. You get the plat anyway when you do it.
Zachary Lopez
>Oh now you're just being a faggot
Literally not a fucking argument.
Kiryu gets fuck all development in 0.
Isaiah Peterson
>You get the plat anyway when you do it.
Not for every entry.
William Perry
Fallout 4 was a mediocre game and a terrible fallout
James Baker
>lowest amount of submissions
There are 50 side cases, 50 friendships, and four women you can date with their own storylines so I don't know what you're on about since each friendship is essentially a short substory.
>unlocking Amon doesn't require a 100% completion anymore. Just finish all submissions
Except that's how it's been since the start of the series. You've never needed anything else, just all substories (With the exception of in 1, 2, and Kenzan needing "Completed" rather than "Finished" substories and I think 2 needed all the moves unlocked if I remember right). 6 is the only one where you only needed to beat Saejima's guy from 4 and Saigo to fight Amon. Also, you need all friendships as well as all side cases to fight Amon in Judgment.
>It's now a check-list
What do you even mean by this? It's been like that since the very first game. Do you mean the rewards from getting 100% aren't there anymore? Because yeah, it's a shame they've been getting rid of them with each new game. I can't remember if FotNS even had anything for clearing stuff on the list and K2 only had that useless fireball shotgun.
Parker Edwards
you only get amon who is a superboss
Lincoln Thomas
>hammock composing
>three separate narratives for the antagonists
>three separate regions
I enjoyed Far Cry 5 way more than I should have.
John Reyes
Did anyone actually see this, and the other 343 games for that matter, as anything more than soulless cash grabs?
Cooper Price
>You were supposed to have decades of lore being tied together
Nah that was 4, we didn't even need V
Kayden Carter
>fallout 4 was good
people wanted it to be good but it wasnt
>fallout 76 most disapointing
everyone knew 76 would be a huge steaming pile of bhramin shit
Nolan Murphy
>God-tier
Y2, Y0, Ishin, Y5 JP
>Great-tier
Kiwami 2, Y3, Kenzan, Y4
>Ok-tier
Y1, Y6, Dead Souls
Now that I think about it, Y6 is the third worst because I got reminded of Y1. Honestly all the games are great and I don't remember being off-putted by any of them. It's a great series. I haven't tried HnK, PSP games, and Judgement cause I got other games to play but I really need to get them.
It's been a while but yeah Y6 was a bitch to plat due to clan creator.
When I say 100% I mean actually 100%ing the game (do all heat moves, minigames, hostesses, submissions, collectibles etc.) but nowadays its just a checklist that feels like 75% of the game's completion. As for Amon, yeah you're right, my memory's fuzzy on that.
You get heat regen amulet for 100%ing the game. Shit reward compared to other games, but its there
Damn I should get Judgement. I hope Ishin gets a port cause its a masterpiece and has the best gameplay which is cheating
Dylan Stewart
any answer other than Spore is wrong
Owen Bennett
Oh and just for those that didn't like Y3, I jumped from Y2 to Y3 when I first played this series so it really felt good with the combat improvements, graphics, and content. Shame about the fact that it jumpstarted the bizarreness of the story. I mean look at this webm what the fuck
Anyways I'm taking way too much space in a non-yakuza thread. I'm sorry
Brandon Kelly
I'm a retard, I thought was about Judgment. I'll see myself out.
Isaac Adams
Now I'm fucking angry because you spoiled me, dude
Parker Reyes
I knew it was going to be shit, they showed off the voiced protagonist and radcraft:tm: at E3 to thunderous applause.
Logan Moore
my bad
Owen Cook
the most annoying thing is how so much attention is focused toward the shit-tier ending, that people begin to think that the rest of the game besides the ending is actually good. In reality the ending is just the capstone to an entirely mediocre game with a completely fucking retarded story through and through.
Even so, I don't think it was the most disappointing game of the last decade. Just because, while I enjoyed ME2, it was clear what direction bioshit were taking things.
Gonna have to go with this one. I was hyped for years for MGSV, and what I got was the barebones skeleton of something with potential. Good mechanics and concepts, but the game does fuck-all with them due to the shitty open world, the bad level/world design where most places are just open areas with guard posts consisting of a few shacks with some target to extract, the unbalanced gameplay that gives more incentive to just play it as a run-and-gun rather than a stealth game, the shitty mother base grinding, the terrible "not-even-a-real-plot" of the game, the terrible way the shitty non-plot is told through lazy audio tapes, the complete lack of an ending, and so on.
If they kept a tight-paced MGS-style plot instead of whatever the fuck we ended up getting, and instead of bland open sandbox worlds, the game was instead set up as level-based with different small-sized hubs like the one in Ground Zeroes, it could've been something good.
Adam Reed
It's the worst possible send-off for Kiryu, and I'm still mad.
Leo Gomez
>it was clear what direction bioshit were taking things
I remember seeing Mass Effect 3 at E3 in 2011 where they shown off the Rannoch trailer. It looked odd then with the auto-dialogue and pew-pew action. I knew I wouldn't like ME3 based off of that trailer and the demo.
Asher Wood
spore was 2008 dumb dumb
Christopher Harris
Not saying it's the worst of 2010s, far from it. But it is the most I've been disappointed in a game.
Christopher Robinson
this by a longshot
Jacob Perry
Your some shit head sooner I have been playing games since nes it was good didn’t say amazing there have been many more shit games keeping sucking the Chan dick you non own opinion faggot

>some adults remember it
>this summer the story continues

Xavier Watson
Fallout 4 is not even in the top ten.
Ian Davis
ME2 was incredibly disappointing because it felt like right when the story was picking up, the game fucking ended. Only other game like that was fable. 20 hour "rpgs" are fucking bullshit. It seemed extremely lazy to me.
>Fallout 4
I was already jaded after oblivion and then skyrim. I had no expections for FO4 and yet it was somehow worse than I imagined it would be.
Sebastian Adams
Obsidian shill with the revisionism.
Fallout 3 was overwhelmingly praised on release. New Vegas had underwhelming sales and was broken on release.
Andrew Ross
Easily mgs5 ive been playing metal gear games my entire life and i didnt even make it halfway through that piece of shit. If you were disappointed by fallout 4 you are a fucking retard it looked like shit from the second it was announced and bethesda hasnt made a good game since oblivion arguably since morrowind. That being said skyrim was also a huge disappointment and cemented bethesda being a bunch of hacks for me permanently
Brandon Howard
Adam Carter
You have shit taste.
Dominic Turner
>hrrrrrr you dont like the same games I do, you must be a summerfag hrrrrrrrrrr
Benjamin Flores
I really think it might be RDR2. Beautiful game, decent enough gameplay, great atmosphere, etc., but ho-lee-shit their mission design philosophy (and particularly the lack of freedom during mission) is 100% fucking ass.
Blake Allen
Is this the IQ required to enjoy Fallout 4?
Jason Ortiz
it's "hurr" you dumb summerfag
Logan Bennett
i hope all the right holders come together one day and make fable 2 (2)
Carter Gray
Hell no, it was boring af.
Blake Peterson
Bioshock Infinite
I don't even know why critics sobbed on Ken Levine's nob over a generic Disney princess and a babby's first time travel paradox
Thomas Fisher
This thread is full of zoomers.
Leo Allen
76 wasn't disappointing
to be disappointing there would have had to be positive expectations for the game
which there wasn't
we all knew it would be bad, even as glitchy it would be because its bethesda

Did anyone have any hope for this game?
Jaxon King

Matthew Howard
Goddamn this was fucking awful.
Blake Perry
Sleeping Dogs as the decade's most disappointing game? Was there a shit ton of hype leading up to it or something? It's a pretty fun Chinese GTA with a decent story and some nice rain effects, were people expecting something else?
Easton Bell
Sleeping Dogs was pretty fun, but it was nowhere near as hyped as other games.
Now something like all Dead Rising games after Off the Record, Aliens Colonial Marines, FEAR 3, those were more disappointing I feel.
Nicholas Reyes
Yeah maybe remove that one
SimCity
Mighty No 9
Mass Effect 3
DmC reboot
Jose Thomas
>Not FO76
It's ME3, but how could you put FO4 before FO76? I know expectations were low as fuck for it but it feels like it killed a classic series.
Daniel Young
>You must wait 4 hours for this upgrade to complete
>And you can't close the game either : ^ )
