If you want to go even further, Divine Blessing 3 is great to have as it will also reduce the damage from the aura, it's hard because you have to fight against the constant damage he does just by standing there.
Health Boost is useful if you're not confident in staying alive
Remember to get Torch Pods whenever you can (one is at Camp 11). Shooting torch pods on the ground removes part of the mist that deals damage, AT Vaal has 2 different auras that deal constant damage so getting rid of one is always good.
His moveset isn't that difficult to deal with, although the tail swipe and running attack are probably his most dangerous moves as they are either hard to react to or unpredictable (he sometimes runs in a curve). Stay close to him when possible, especially when he does his laser as that move is one of the safest times to attack him.

Unless I’m using Imperial Shimmer, I can’t find anything useful in it aside from the helm’s Handicraft

zorahs LS does huge fuckoff raw damage while also having blast which is buffed by the set

Don't think so, it's a break reward. cap/carve in world only changes a few item rewards now.

I had only some basic buffs, the tobi kadachi gunlance and the anja set and i captured him without any effort.
